Despite the pros and cons of WC , it's this guys attitude that's a turn off. Yeah the fish might be treated as a commodity, but they still deserve some sympathy, and no one needs to be so delighted about forcefully relocating them LOL

Also 99% of the freshwater fish are captive raised

Why is this guy proud that his fish were swimming in the Amazon a week ago....
Yeah, it's cool, but it also decimates local ecosystems. If they were wild, bred in captivity, in the Amazon, and then replenished the local population while providing nice specimens to us in other countries, then that would be okay.
Fish caught in the wild can also help to save them.
Check out project Piaba. Harvesting some fish will actually protect the Amazon. The biggest threat is not over harvesting but habitat loss.

Goodness, I saw some Pecos that I've never seen before, here I thought the ones were what you saw in pet shops. Oh and I was the same way as the guy that said he started with one tank then chose to get another and so on. I had 35 tanks in a double trailer and the only reason I stopped is I ran out of room. I love all kinds of fish, and it seemed back then I could never have enough. Love going along with on the tour, thank you for sharing this.

Plecos are my favorite fish tbh. I'd love to own more varieties some day but currently I've got two commons (Jekyll and Hyde) and a dwarf clown (Carny). Honestly it hurts knowing they're probably the most abused and neglected fish in the hobby. They're all so pretty and its neat watching them scoot around.
I just struggle with Jekyll cos shes sassy and gives me a hard time eating her veggies but shes my precious lil orc

So many WC fish, seems such a shame when there are amazing farms producing healthy, parasite free fish, without affecting the natural population. I know during the 50 days challenge George was very pro-aquaculture, however this store clearly isn't. I've never understood the appeal of taking an animal from it's home. Maybe someone can educate me further on the pros of WC?
It's the scarcity, the rarity makes it compelling. in saltwater you'll hear people bragging about captive bred fish because to them those are rarer.
also sometimes fish like plecos are invasive so it's good for the environment to capture them wild.
Finally some fish can't be bred in captivity like altum angelfish and lastly, often wild fish look different from their captive bred counterparts like the discus.
