Spain just couldn't evolve, their tiki taka ended up being meaningless instead of trying to move the ball forward as a team, resulting in their flop of a campaign
But Spain was washed up
Mourinho had already broken down the tiki taka with his Inter team back in 2010. And this was PRIME tiki taka with young Messi. Spain failed because most of their players fell off after 2010. Puyol was no more, and Torres and Villa were past their prime. Holland at the time had one of its best squads in YEARS with Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder all in very good form. Same went for Chile with a lethal Alexis Sanchez in his prime.

A lot of teams have finally conquered tiki-taka especially Brazil in 2013, Spain just couldn’t keep up with what made them so dominant, all good things come to an end.

Nah the Tika taka style was out of favor by 2014. Quick pressingr of bayern and dortumnd dominated.also Spain doesn't have all of the grea players to move Tika taka forward like messi so it fails

spain in 2010 had puyol, iniesta, xavi, ramos, alonso, casillas. It's just the aging and rotation of players, spain have actually never been a "powerhouse of football". They have legends but mostly club wise, nationality is lacking for them,

Spain has been shocking for a while now.
Their 2022 campaign was awful too, like if you’re an insomniac person put on Spain vs Morocco in the round of 16 of that WC. Absolutely terrible game from them, they did like 1000 passes and it all lead to nowhere and even in the penalties they’re still trying to pass the ball.
What astonishes me the most is that they progressively got worse as the matches went on, first they crushed Costa Rica 7-0, then drew 1-1 with Germany and then lost to Japan, and then topped it off by being unable to score against Morocco.

As a Chilean I remember the reactions to the draw, the memes and the way they said that we were doomed, but I knew that Spain was easy to beat because we had had two previous friendlies that we not win because spain robbed us badly XD, this because Chile had a very direct way of playing and Spain, on the contrary, was a bore of passing, for me victory was immediate although for my friends and family it was more of a joke, and so it was, I also thought that the Netherlands was going to be the leader of the group since they had a lot of offensive play against the poor defense of Chile and the lack of effectiveness of Spain, in names everything was good but in the collective game I always knew that Spain was easy
