Screw the oscars, my man Bob Odenkirk deserved an emmy for Saul Gone. been robbed so many times now (in acting)
For BCS anyway. Bob won two Emmys for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series/Special in 1989 and 1993. It's like how Ellen Burstyn was nominated for an Oscar for Requiem for a Dream but since she already won in 1974 it was safe to snub her.
@@FragglevisionReturns yeah, i meant for acting. i'll edit it
It was always baffling to me how BCS was always snubbed at the awards despite most people agreeing its the same quality as breaking bad
I would’ve loved to see Tony Dalton land an Emmy, he absolutely nailed the portrayal of Lalo
@@joshevans3421 i personally even prefer BCS over breaking bad, both are fantastic though.
Without even watching the video, I’m saying Bryan Cranston! Dude went from “haha! He’s so comedic!” To “holy crap! This guy is serious!”
He's definitely got the talent and the range, but schaff has a point that he's not really getting the academy's attention.
e
He’s done very little of note film-wise since Breaking Bad, and he said recently he’s gonna “take a pause” on acting when he’s 70 (he’s 68), so idk if that’s a safe bet
@@tonydub98 fair point
So did Odenkirk, to an even bigger extent
Rhea Seehorn from BCS is also seriously underrated as Kim. She mostly sticks to TV, but she has the best chance between all of the female actresses.
Best chance? Why not Kerry Condon, the actress that played Mike's daughter-in-law? She got an oscar nomination last year.
@@gyronutz3043 WHAT
@@elijahgilleanrodriguez9242 The Banshees of Inisherin, she was nominated for best supporting actress in that, but lost out to Jamie Lee Curtis
@@gyronutz3043 I suppose, but to be honest, Mike's daughter in law is a very minor character
@@officialmonarchmusic Not that it matters, but she appears in all seasons and has a decent amount of screen time, I wouldn't say she's very minor.
Aaron Paul is seriously underrated, the guy legit gave some of the most emotional scenes in the BB, bro is always on top, but Bryan Cranston is most likely winning this considering the guy is a major hollywood actor as well

Jessie Plemons is managing to fill a lot of character roles that have been left vacant in movies since the passing of Philip Seymore Hoffman. He's really good at portraying the humanity in any character he inhabits, even villains, and I think he's a natural pick for the sorts of dramas that do well in the oscar season.
Yes!! I hadn't seen this take in the wild yet, but completely agree. Like Hoffman before him, if Plemons shows up in your movie you know shit is about to get dark.
Jesse Plemons playing PSH’s son in The Master was such a perfect casting
Before watching the video, for me it’s 100% Bryan Cranston. He is probably the most talented member of an all-time great cast and he is loved throughout the industry. If he is given the right role, he would 100% pull it off.
e
Shout-out to Giancarlo Esposito's roll as Buggin Out in Do the Right Thing.
When I watched that movie for the first time with no real background knowledge on it, I was so surprised to see Esposito act in a way that’s so radically different from his usual type castings in present day. I’d love to see him do more stuff like that.
Yo Sal? How come there ain't no brothers up on the wall?
Italian Americans only!
I don't think many people realize just how great Bryan Cranston is as the dad on Malcolm in the Middle. The way he's able to look so jovial while simultaneously looking like he's about to snap and kill everyone in the room. 😭
Bryan Cranston just has that fatherly voice
You need to watch Malcom in the Middle! Seriously, it is so good, not just Bryan Cranston but the whole cast is sooo good!
Malcolm in the middle is great! Plus it ties into the theory that the entire plot of BB was a hallucination by Hal on one of the episodes
@@kdusel1991 That's not just a theory, they FILMED that ending with Hal waking up in bed and telling Lois all about his breaking bad dream. CZcams doesn't like dropping link, but if you look for "Alternate Breaking Bad Ending (Malcolm in the Middle Edition)" you'll find it.
Jane Kaczmarek as Lois is fantastic too.
@@AtlasBlizzard she's so funny and believable on that show!
yes! hal is easily my hands down favorite take on a sitcom dad.
i love that he genuinely loves and cares for his family and especially his wife (what he and lois have is so special!)
and hal isn't like 'stupid' really at all, he can be a bit childish but he is emotionally intelligent and loving. it's so hard to hate him/not root for him, malcolm in the middle is one of my favorites :]
Gotta love how schaffrillas always does the most unusual videos for the most popular pieces of media
Giancarlo is actually a massive musical theatre nerd having gotten his start as a bit part in the original broadway production of Merrily We Roll Along, along side George Costanza himself
The thing about him is he's always been typecast as a villain cause he's just so good at playing one. Gus, Moff Gideon, need I say more?

"Academy Awards are sponsored by... Squarespace"
Man, they'd have to do some major modifications to accomodate a giant crab
There will be no disrespecting animation with him as the host. Make it happen!
@@vitorus8385they can have him on a call idk
Right after the line “the main man himself…”, CZcams cut into an ad with BRYAN CRANSTON. Perfect timing lmao
If you want to see Giancarlo Esposito in a role unlike any you've likely ever seen him in, watch Do the Right Thing from 1989. One of Spike Lee's most well known and well regarded films, and one that has as much relevance now as it did 35 years ago.
Schaff did write a review for Do The Right Thing on his Letterboxd (he gave it 4.5 stars)
Michael Mando should really get some more attention. His performance in Nacho‘s final episode of Better Call Saul was absolutely phenomenal!
I was looking for this - Mando is a real talent that gets slept on cos of his relatively minor roles in comparison to his co-stars, but his performances are always fuelled with such tangible emotion, whether that be anger, sadness, joy etc. Loved him as Vaas Montenegro and loved him even more as Nacho.
I can't help but feel we'll all be looking back at this video in a year or two laughing in shock at how wrong you were. No idea what that would be, it just feels like a certified Scahfrillas thing to do.
Who could have predicted the Oscar would go to the “oh shit” guy from the Sopranos?

_He gave the world his own rendition of "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE" and won a goddamn Tony for it._

I find it funny how right as you where saying "but can he win against the main man himself, Bryan Cranston" an ad with Bryan Cranston popped up before the part where you said his name.
I still want Rhea Seahorn to get some recognition. That bug in invincible was top 10 performances of all time.
"Schaffrillas needs to see Malcolm in the Middle" button.
Shout out to the CZcams ad department for airing a commercial with Bryan Cranston literally right after you finished introducing him but before you said his name! If that’s on you, even better! Chefs kiss
I genuinely love how unique your ideas for video essays are.
This is probably the most random thing for Schaff to come out with but you know what I’m here for it lmao
This is the same person who did a “Game theory - styled” video on Free birds and undertale.
Let’s just say.. he’s that person.
The guy who is really passionate about the most random topics.
Glad that Schaff dared to ask one of life's greatest questions, thank you!
It always makes me happy when you post, thank you Schafrillas
I just got an ad before the video started with Bryan Cranston, so maybe a bit for foreshadowing?
Bravo Schaff! You could not have timed this upload better. I am just finishing my second watch of Breaking Bad (even better than the first watch).
I love how i was just watching his videos and suddenly boom, new video lol
Honestly a really cool idea, don't really know much stuff about breaking bad, but I'm still gonna watch it cause it's a schaffrilas video, so I know it's gonna be a banger
I am glad you are taking easy with a video that is not related to a video you did in the past
while not speaking of oscars, Jonathan Banks 100% needs to be the main actor in a movie at least once. I wanna see him perform while all the lights are pointed at him
Schaff I swear you be coming up with some random topics… and it’s incredible.
Nice timing, I just finished rewatching Better Call Saul yesterday 👌
bryan cranston should win an oscar for his performance as li shan in kung fu panda 4
Bless you, loyal fan and your sweet naivety
Except KFP 4 was mid. So no, he should not win an Oscar for that.
@@PenellopeSweetz I agree.
except the film was horrible
y’all are wrong, kung fu panda 4 was amazing
all of the movies have a recurring plot where po’s experience, training, and failures pay off, which happens once again in this film. the theme of the movie is what po told zhen, “it’s never too late to do the right thing.” it applied not only to zhen and tai lung, but also to po
it started with the same formula of shifu telling po he has to step out of his comfort zone and learn something new to better himself, but just like po, the movie changes. po has advanced in kung fu, inner peace, and chi faster than anyone, even oogway himself.
shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. but on his journey he took his own advice and decided to do the right thing and choose a new dragon warrior. and he had amazing character growth along the way
oogway could have defeated tai lung at any time. but instead, he let po, his successor, defeat tai lung. in kung fu panda 4, we find out po could’ve beaten the chameleon any time with the staff, but instead, he let zhen, his successor, defeat her (or at least get a good hit in)
but after po revealed he could’ve broken out and beaten her himself, he gets the final blow and returns the kung fu to all of the masters she stole it from. this movie was po’s movie, he got more time to shine and prove that he was a more than worthy successor of oogway.
like i said, shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. in the first kung fu panda, shifu was mad about oogway’s pick for the dragon warrior because nothing about him said dragon or warrior. po’s pick as the next dragon warrior had the same affect on shifu.
like oogway says, “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” po went on an adventure with zhen so he wouldn’t have to pick a new dragon warrior, yet on this adventure he realized that zhen was destined to be his successor and the next dragon warrior
as for the lesson that po taught zhen, it went perfectly with the theme of this film. people can change. po changed, zhen changed, the villain changed a lot, and even tai lung changed. this is one of my favorite plots from the entire franchise.
po of all people would know it’s never too late to change, because in the first movie, he was a nobody. he even told shifu “every time you threw a brick at my head, or said i smelled, it hurt, but it could never hurt more than it did every day of my life just being me.”
po thought it was too late for him to change, so he tried to escape the jade palace explaining why he stayed, “i thought if anyone could change me, could make me not me, it was you.” and shifu was able to change him and even put him on the path to being equal to oogway.
this is not how it was for chameleon, who i thought was a great villain. hear me out, chameleon is basically the reverse of po, people thought po was too large to do kung fu even though he wasn’t, and people thought chameleon was too small to do kung fu even though she wasn’t
despite being beaten and rejected so many times, po pushed through and became a legendary kung fu master, while the chameleon took rejection too personal and went on a rampage because of it because she most likely didn’t have someone like oogway to inspire her
po is all about being himself and doing his own thing, which was made very clear in the first movie. but the chameleon is all about being jealous of others and doing other people’s things. tai lung, lord shen, and kai all committed genocide, but not chameleon
the worst thing chameleon did was push someone down the stairs, which shifu already did to po. all the other villains did their crimes out of hate, but chameleon did her crimes out of jealousy. so she could have changed when po told her it wasn’t too late.
she knew what po was capable of but she didn’t care. he was nothing to her but the final test of her strength after she stole the kung fu from all the other masters, so she gave po the staff that way she could fight the dragon warrior at his best. she’s like no other villain
the first villain was a student, and the villain of his teacher, shifu’s past, the second villain was the villain of po’s past, and the third villain was the villain of oogway’s past. but this time, the villain was the teacher rather the student, and the villain of zhen’s past.
speaking of zhen, her dynamic with po was truly special. her redemption arc was conspicuous yet satisfying, as it brought po’s wisdom from kung fu panda 2 to life. her and po seem incompatible since she’s a thief, yet they make a great duo, and zhen makes a great successor
the “dragon warrior” title is an idea of taking nothing and making something out of it. like how shifu made a great warrior out of po and po made a great inspiration out of a blank page. zhen was nothing before she met po because she was a thief and a cheap, lying traitor.
zhen was raised by an evil villain and betrayed everyone who loved her, yet po was so pure of heart that his kindness helped her get on the right path, and genuinely made her care about po. before this, zhen was given “rules” of the street by the chameleon
zhen recites 2 of these rules to po after betraying him. but after the chameleon pushes po off the edge, zhen is upset by this and the chameleon tells zhen about a third rule of the street, which was “nobody cares about your feelings.” and it’s the first time zhen heard it.
the reason why zhen never knew about that rule up until that point was because she never had feelings for anyone or cared about anyone else until she saw the chameleon hurt po, which is why the chameleon never had to tell zhen that rule until then.
but po was saved by ping and li shan, who went on a journey to help po. in the first 3 movies, the b plot was ping being afraid of losing po, but they switched it up this time. i think everyone can agree that the b plot in this film is the best b plot in any kung fu panda movie
li shan pretending to be a master of kung fu to scare the thugs, while they’re only scared of him because he’s fat and could make the building fall, yet he thought they were scared of him because he thought that they thought he was a kung fu master. it was genius.
in kung fu panda, po strengthens his body by learning kung fu, in kung fu panda 2, po strengthens his mind by finding inner peace, in kung fu panda 3, po strengthens his spirit by mastering chi, in kung fu panda 4, po strengthens his heart by letting zhen in it after she hurt him

Can’t wait to see that video where he ranks every Animated Feature nominees and winners
But it’s probably not gonna happen since he talks about the majority of the nominees in his ranking and analysis videos.
trust me, you need to see malcolm in the middle. hal/bryan's character in that show is rly great.
he uses a lot of similar techniques (especially with the facial expressions) to what would become walter but hal is kind of the opposite- where people appreciate walter for how subtle and reserved and nuanced his character, hal is loud, bombastic but extremely loving/charming.- it's really no wonder why that was his career defining role b4 breaking bad.
he's probably my favorite take on a sitcom dad ever because he genuinely loves his family (and especially his wife- they both love each other very much), and bryan made it clear how important that was to his character when he talks about hal.
this video idea feels like you had a conversation with a friend and the conversation was real nice so you made a video about it
I think Battleship star, Jesse Plemons is a great contender for it .
Jesse Plemons is good, he's just not been in a lot of movies. I see him more as a tv actor than a film actor
The squid game over saul snub really bugs me.
No one ever thought „this actor really makes this series“ for squid game; it is popular solely for its interesting plot.
Bob Odenkirk MADE BCS. He put his heart and soul into acting one of the most iconic characters of the last decade of tv shows and made BCS one of the best tv shows ever.
YOU NEED TO WATCH MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE!!! Every episode is just so fun and Bryan does a great job playing the role of a fun father. The show is my childhood and I still watch it till this day!
Now see this is the reason why I subscribed to the channel
Breaking Bad is an American crime drama television series created and produced by Vince Gilligan for AMC. Set and filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the series follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), an underpaid, dispirited high-school chemistry teacher struggling with a recent diagnosis of stage-three lung cancer. White turns to a life of crime and partners with a former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), to produce and distribute methamphetamine to secure his family's financial future before he dies, while navigating the dangers of the criminal underworld. Breaking Bad premiered on AMC on January 20, 2008, and concluded on September 29, 2013, after five seasons consisting of 62 episodes.
