@@nicholasemerson9852 great question... intermittent fasting could mean either: 1. Skip breakfast and start eating at 10am and only eat in the 8 hour window (so that means 10am- 6pm) 2. Another way to I.F. would be to eat at 7am then stop your last meal at 3pm and not eat until the next day at breakfast. 3. 3rd way is to pick 18 hours or longer (to achieve autophagy) and sleeping hours count too, so there is at least 8 hours you're *not* eating, to boost I.F. 🦋🌱 4. You can eat once a day 2 or 3 times a week and boost the body to recycle old cells and heal from within (aka autophagy). I've been doing forms of I.F. from 2015. I hope this helps🍉

I think you said you currently eat when you're hungry (I did too). The idea is to not stress the body, at first, so eat your meals but in an 8 hour 'eating window' only. Try that for at least 3 weeks before you take a meal away. Drink *more* water when you take a meal away, autophagy uses alot of fluids to regenerate and recycle cells. Some people like to push breakfast back, others just start the I.F period starting at 4 or 5 pm. You choose *:)* Slight adjustments incrementally will help you *not* feel deprived or hungry, for that matter. It took me 2 years to get my body to accept 1 meal/day (OMAD). But I have altered that yet again. I am eating 2 to 3 meals/day. Shock, stress and sudden changes hurt the body by releasing cortisol and that is a set-back we do not want. Be kind to yourself, go slow until your body accepts each stage you select🍉

I’ll tell you why I agree with this. I recently started stretching my legs everyday when I wake up and go to sleep. Compared to before, whenever I play sports I don’t feel sore afterwards like I use to. It’s just about making it a daily habit is what he is saying.
To be fair, this is working for me and my brother since we started training. Im not saying that this is the right way, or that it works for everybody, but it works for us. The thought was, what if we were in nature and had no time to warm up, your body should be always ready. Go to the gym, start with lifting heavy, no injuries. Happy to see that we are not the only ones that are always ready.

@Michael Higgins I was super lucky enough to meet Laird and Andy Irons at Pipeline as a little kid. I still remember how amazing his lines were. He must have signed a million autographs that day but he gave me and my dad time and was really just the sweetest dude.

He trains with these methods and tries these different things out for himself (like exclusively nose breathing) and he shares it because from his own experience he can tell its true. Man I'm not mad about what they said about mental health..Im sure some people will be. But man I take medication, exercise, go to therapy, and eat balanced. And it is a struggle for me to walk outside every morning because of my dumb anxious mind. All the medication does is simply help cope a little bit. Yall basically said depression and anxiety are only caused by lack of exercise and a healthy diet. That could be true in some cases.. but not all. There's a lot of people out there listening to your show right now who are probably in a very dark place and need medication. And I think it's dangerous that y'all are basically saying you're fat and lazy that's why you have anxiety or depression and that's the bottom line.. so someone might hear that and say okay I I trust Joe. So I'm not going to go to the doctor like I should and try to work out and eat better. And maybe they fail and it's their last straw and they do something drastic.. when you don't know what it's like to be in that deep dark head space I don't I don't think you should speak in absolutely certainty about the subject like y'all are. It’s important to understand the difference and it’s important that regardless of which kind of depression one has, focusing on your physical health can only be a good thing eventually.

3 years ago. I started standing outside in my briefs in winter for 5 mins at a time. I do it right before bed. Once you warm up while laying down. It feels like a calming relaxed opium feeling. It also soothes knots in my muscle fibers and takes inflammation away in my joints. Try it once... It works.

Heya zack. Yes it's called riding giants about the history of big wave surfing. From the teenagers who went and lived on the north shore of Hawaiian in the fiftys right up to laird pioneering tow in surfing. I believe it was made by stacy peralta the skate boarder who made a few great documentaries the other im aware of was dog town and the z boys about himself and the crew who helped popularize modern skateboarding styles in the seventies by skateing empty pools. Both are definitely worth a rewatch. Hope this was helpful buddy. Enjoy.

I had 3 surgeries within a month and stayed awake for the 3rd due to anesthesia recovery problems. It took me 8 months to get my brain functioning and thought processes clear after all the anesthesia. Bad stuff!!

I’ll tell you why I agree with this. I recently started stretching my legs everyday when I wake up and go to sleep. Compared to before, whenever I play sports I don’t feel sore afterwards like I use to. It’s just about making it a daily habit is what he is saying.
To be fair, this is working for me and my brother since we started training.
Im not saying that this is the right way, or that it works for everybody, but it works for us.
The thought was, what if we were in nature and had no time to warm up, your body should be always ready.
Go to the gym, start with lifting heavy, no injuries.
Happy to see that we are not the only ones that are always ready.

He trains with these methods and tries these different things out for himself (like exclusively nose breathing) and he shares it because from his own experience he can tell its true. There is science behind it and he does know some about how we are supposed to breathe through our nose not our mouth.

When I was picking up surfing when living on Oahu in the late 90’s and early 2000’s everyone was just calling Laird, “Lord Hamilton “. He is just on another level of intensity. Pretty inspirational.
Man I'm not mad about what they said about mental health..Im sure some people will be. But man I take medication, exercise, go to therapy, and eat balanced. And it is a struggle for me to walk outside every morning because of my dumb anxious mind. All the medication does is simply help cope a little bit. Yall basically said depression and anxiety are only caused by lack of exercise and a healthy diet. That could be true in some cases.. but not all. There's a lot of people out there listening to your show right now who are probably in a very dark place and need medication. And I think it's dangerous that y'all are basically saying you're fat and lazy that's why you have anxiety or depression and that's the bottom line.. so someone might hear that and say okay I I trust Joe. So I'm not going to go to the doctor like I should and try to work out and eat better. And maybe they fail and it's their last straw and they do something drastic.. when you don't know what it's like to be in that deep dark head space I don't I don't think you should speak in absolutely certainty about the subject like y'all are. Maybe try and understand. Anyways that guy definitely looks exactly like Will Forte lol good podcast Joe ✌️⚡

It’s important to understand the difference and it’s important that regardless of which kind of depression one has, focusing on your physical health can only be a good thing eventually.

Heya zack. Yes it's called riding giants about the history of big wave surfing. From the teenagers who went and lived on the north shore of Hawaiian in the fiftys right up to laird pioneering tow in surfing. I believe it was made by stacy peralta the skate boarder who made a few great documentaries the other im aware of was dog town and the z boys about himself and the crew who helped popularize modern skateboarding styles in the seventies by skateing empty pools. Both are definitely worth a rewatch. Hope this was helpful buddy. Enjoy.
