I like the little touches that show your quality and wanting it right. The spraying of the insides of the subframes with anti-rust, using quality seam sealer, using good equipment, taking time when working to make sure you don't miss anything and carefully choosing replacement parts like makers parts where critical. Too many shops will do a half-arsed job, cutting corners, to save a few quid/dollars/euros. I also think you have a good reputation you want to keep and for your own peace of mind to do the jobs right or not at all. I presume a VW dealer will have to reset certain components as such a new vehicle and the only ones who can do it.
Rob you and Chris need a mask for that dinatrol it’s really bad for you it can mess with your central nervous system have a little read on the can !!! I use that stuff offshore in the open air and I still wear a mask. Cracking job btw ✅
In the US I have seen a professional car repairer using a long tube on their version of dinitrol cans so they reach along the beams inside and inside sills. Worth doing this to get a better protective layer along hidden beams etc. Great repair job there on a brand new car! 😄

Good work. when you mentioned 'fire watching' when welding, it reminded me of doing this when my dad was welding and I was fire watching. Believe me, fire watching was shall we say, interesting when gas welding. Could you give that poor engine crane some love? It is sat outside in all weathers. I'm sure it would like a nice paint job and a cover!!
Chris has done very well there, he’s a very hard worker to get that straight.
Way back in the 80’s while I was in high school I had a week in a garage for work experience and I was the one sat inside a bare shell on fire watch. The garage was welding new sills on a car and if he blew through (sparks bouncing around the inside 😂) I had to shout STOP and spray water on the burning paint, then OK when he could continue. I went back to the same garage the following year and loved it. They actually offered me an apprenticeship but my step father wouldn’t allow it, saying it was a way of cheap labour under Maggie Thatcher.

Hey Rob,
You mentioned that you'd bought batteries for the boat. Be careful if they are normal car batteries as once again marine batteries are different. They may look the same externally, but the internals are built stronger to cope with the constant thumping you get in a boat when hitting waves. Once again you don't want a battery failure while out on the water.

The majority of us know when you say "you could never tell that has been fixed/replaced/repaired etc" that Chris is repairing the car to OEM standards in quality and visuals, you ARE NOT trying to hide anything dodgy!!! It is a pleasure to watch you doing your work, the attention to detail and ensuring it is as factory. Modern cars are so complex and they are assembled is big modules in the factory, especially for the drivetrain, which makes secondary access very difficult. However you guys must have photographic memories to remember how it all fits together. Another cracking as new motor heading to somebody at a bargain price. It is a scandal these cars are being written off! 👍🇬🇧😎
