Well... not the ONLY framework. Her other origin is as a primordial goddess who technically outranks him in the celestial hierarchy. Zeus is a horndog for sure but he's also extremely paranoid about keeping his position as head honcho god. Even if he was brave enough to try seducing her... he would never be brave enough to have a child that could potentially be more powerful than he is which would be likely to happen if he had a child with a primordial goddess.

Here all the ones I like
Athena’s mother MĂ©tis is Zeus’s cousin, the daughter of Zeus’s aunt and uncle Oceanus and Tethys
Perseus’s mother Danae is a direct descendant of Zeus (think great x 6 grandpa)
Heracles’s mother Alcmene is Perseus’s granddaughter, making her Zeus’s great granddaughter
Artemis and Apollo’s mother Leto is also Zeus’s cousin
Hermes’s mother the Pliad Maia is the daughter of Atlas and Pleione (who are cousins to Zeus and each other) making her Zeus’s first cousin once removed on both sides.
That also makes Zeus be in the same generational level as Maia’s parents.
And finally, Dionysus’s mother is the mortal woman Semele. She is the daughter of Cadmus and Harmonia. That seems fine at first, but Harmonia is the daughter of Aphrodite and Ares. Aphrodite is either Zeus’s daughter or Aunt depending on who you ask, so Harmonia is either Zeus’s granddaughter or Cousin on that side, and Ares is Zeus’s son, so Harmonia is his granddaughter on that side. Making Semele either his great granddaughter on both sides, or his great granddaughter-First cousin once removed, depending on Aphrodite.
    Conclusion? Zeus is gross

Another thing to note with the Aphrodite thing is that she wasn't the only love god. There was another god, Eros, who is sometimes depicted as a primordial god as old as Gaia, and sometimes depicted as a son of Aphrodite. In either case, he's commonly depicted as being the one who decides who falls in love with who, using his golden arrows. When a god is said to make someone fall in love with someone, they're usually enlisting the aid of Eros.

Fun fact: after Zeus punished Aphrodite, he in fact never had another mortal son, with the last two alive being Sarpedon and Helen. Some later greeks would say Alexander the great was his son but most did not agree with that. So Zeus definily (and other gods too) did not have any more children after that story.
Also Poseidon had a lot of weird sons like horses, two headed giants and a cyclops, it would be funny to explore his sons.

@@andyhodgson7882 the Odyssey states that only Polyphemus is his son. The other Cyclops are said to be related to the Phaeacians and giants, not Poseidon. The reason of why Poseidon fathered a cyclop is because the mother is Teosa, a daughter of Phorcys, and the sons and daughters of Phorcys were monstrous in nature, so it makes sense that Polyphemus would inheretly monstrous features from that side of the family, instead of Poseidon.

I was wondering if you could talk about Ampelos/Ampelus next?? He’s just a lover of Dionysus and all that stuff, it’s fine if you don’t. đŸ€·đŸ§

5 months later i finally decided to do the math (i drew a family tree) BUT.
7:16 it wasnt double incest. it was more like 3 or 4 times depending how you look at it.
Gaia sprouted Uranus (which in my books counts as a son but hey) they had Cronus and Rhea. Those two had Zeus and Demeter. Who had Persephone. Then Zeus and Persephone had Zagreus.
So 3 times if you dont count sprouting a sentient sky out of nowhere as having a kid and 4 if you do.
