- I just had to film Richard's Fokker Triplane Dr.1 for you guys, it's powered by a DLE 120 and is built from the Flair kit, I really need a zoom camera to show Richard's aerobatics but the close-ups aren't too bad, cheers.

Brave man flying that! 😮
It did handle the wind rather well 👍
Wonderful model - great to see it flying. That 4 stroke engine sounded real good also. Thanks for sharing !
I had one of these with a 120 size four stroke as well. I painted mine up with a Werner Voss like scheme. Striped, smeared olive green over light colored fabric. And the cowl had the 'eyes & mustache' on the front. According to British pilots who flew against him - he was able to make a very quick, flat turn of 180 degrees and start shooting at someone who was previously behind him. The story of his last fight against a bunch of British SE 5a's is quite an interesting read.
Thanks for commenting Roger, she is a lovely bird no doubt about it, both the sight and the sound .. superb 👍
Absolutely lovely
She is lovely Mike, especially with a real engine 👍
What a wonderful scale flier that DR1 is! Lovely!
It sure is Gina, bigger models fly more realistically but they're a bit of a b. to transport!
Richard fantastic looking Dr 1. Cliff fun video of a great flight. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff, Richard will appreciate your words 🙂👍
It's amazing that glow driver stayed on hehe, wow lucky. Thanks for the video Cliff.
Hi Kev, yes, there was no way the engine was going to conk out 😁👍
Beaut!🤠👍🛩️🇿🇦
Indeed Wouter 👍
What a great size plane, great you got video. Shame you could have done with more runway, mind you the Glow charger didn’t help. 👍🏻
A shorter runway hones the skills Chris, Richard forgot the glow charger because I was talking to him while he was starting her up, so my fault really 🤔👍
Nice flight, nice model. I wish I could get glow sticks to hold in like that! I intend to build David Hurrell's 1/4 scale Fokker Triplane once a few projects have been completed. I rather fancy Adolf von Tutschek's scheme because it's simple!
Tutschek's craft does look kindof neat, had to Google his name, 26 victories in all 👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I plan to finish it in the earlier markings with the black crosses on the large white fields to aid orientation.
@@daviddavis7710@the_grand_tourer Actually a captured Sopwith Triplane was the inspiration for the Dr.1, and that's what's on my building board right now 👍
Ein sehr schönes Modell, ja die Landung war nicht perfeckt aber der Flieger hatt es unbeschadet überstanen 👍😎
You can't beat a Dr.1 for sheer good looks, danke Rolf 👍
That’s a nice example of a Dr1.
A similar fate to the real one except Manfred hit a pile of turnips.
Turnips could be arranged 😁👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes do it Cliff!
I promise to take my Sopwith Camel next time, you can't beat multiple Great War aeroplanes in the sky at one time, cheers
I've always wondered with those very light, massive surface area triplanes if they have a very low stall speed ? ... it'd be handy in a dog fight, to almost break to a halt.
That's true Gavin but so could the allies so not much to gain, it was a case of technology and design would leap-frog over each opposing side ... much like today 🤔👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Thank you! Yes I guess you are right, I'd imagined we only had biplanes, but they could have had just as much surface area / weight, just googled and see Sopwith made a tri that joined the war late on.
thanks cliff for the video, nice aircraft, but I prefer the British WW1 aircraft,
I do as well actually, but for the Dr.1 I make an exception 👍
