ABOUT THE MOVIE
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter-an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins “Turning Red releases on March 11, 2022.
According to “Turning Red” director Domee Shi, if you set a 13-year-old girl’s coming-of-age story in the early 2000s, it’s pretty much mandatory to include a boy band. “We needed our character Mei to be obsessed with something that her mom would not approve of,” said Shi. “Boy bands were the first step into the world of boys for a lot of girls that age. The guys were all super pretty, polished, soft and loving, and they had of way of bringing girls and their besties together. Plus, I thought it’d be really cool to create an animated boy band.”
Joining previously announced Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh, who lend their voices to Mei and her mother Ming, are Orion Lee as the voice of Mei’s dad, Jin, and Wai Ching Ho as the voice of Grandma. Mei’s tightknit group of friends are voiced by Ava Morse as Miriam, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Priya, and Hyein Park as Abby. Tristan Allerick Chen voices classmate Tyler, and Addie Chandler lends his voice to Mei’s secret crush Devon. Providing the harmonious voices of the members of 4*Town are Jordan Fisher, Grayson Villanueva, Josh Levi, Topher Ngo and Finneas O’Connell. Rounding out the voice cast are James Hong, Lori Tan Chinn, Lillian Lim, Mia Tagano, Sherry Cola, Sasha Roiz and Lily Sanfelippo. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Okay, but all of the Aunt letting their Pandas free was very Go Go Powers Rangers/Avengers Assemble and I was so here for it.
Okay, so this might be a reach, but I love it. So in the movie, the mom points out that the group is called 4-town, but there are 5 members. This could be foreshadowing how, by the end, Tyler joins the girl's friend group, and they go from a group of 4 to a group of 5.

You will also notice throughout the movie whenever there's heightened emotions from Ming, her pendant which contains her red panda will glow, its very subtle detail, but foreshadows what to expect later when it shatters, and releases the panda. It does however mean they are still bound to their panda even if they are seperated from them spiritually.
Also, I think in the spray paint mural which says welcome to Chinatown you can see a red panda (Mei?) running on the buildings .
notice that just like Meilin and Ming, the green dragon had red spectaclelike accents, and the red dragon had green spectaclelike accents
Meilin and Ming with their dominant with the accent of the contrast colour, meilin (red with a green accent and Ming with green with a red accent) is all connected to Taoism, ying and yang. in light there are always an accent of darkness, and in darkness there is always an accent of light. thats why the yin and yang symbol has a white eye in the dark half and a dark eye in the white part. and i like that grandmothers scar is red when she is a human but black when she is a panda.

Throughout the movie I was noticing the background score a lot....which is unusual for Disney movies off-late as all of them pretty much have got the same ol' tunes we have heard a million times. Cut to the credits and I go......ahhhh Ludwig Gorranson the OG.....that's why. Man is 🔥 and is versatile AF. And yes I enjoyed the movie..... ✌🏻

I just cannot believe that during your big 60s or 60 things to note Easter eggs for turning red. You forgot to note that there was two references to light year on that damn skateboard the logo and the cat picture if you look at the logo for the star command, who is the company and or boss of Buzz Lightyear also a reference to the anime series, but the whole idea of him being a space ranger comes from Star command. He always calls star command all the time. That was literally his first line in the first movie star command star command. Absoultely quoting someone, but: green is used to his RED SPOTS in makeup, and you can see Ming going from wearing to no green to almost all green when she 'ages' walking beside Mei.
They need to make a turning red sequel

@@jordanknight2148 for me, I've find I can't chose. Encanto speaks to me more in the family dynamics and cultural thing, and Turning Red in my 13 y/o and growing up memories.
I didn't care for it. The party scene and picture selling in school threw me off. Just when I thought I was following along that part came up and I was lost. "It's not your panda it's not your choice" solidified that I had now clue what I just watched tbh.

Ok someone tell me the truth here so when mei turns into a red panda she gets red hair right but since her mother had of course turned into a rd panda before why in the show she has black hair. Her mother, and the rest of the family, have black hair because they're pandas are locked away. The short moment when their pandas are not locked is when they are all in the Bamboo forest, and there they all have red hair before they separate from their pandas again.
