    That was a lot of hard work which paid off because the finished product looks amazing. I think every time Meredith sits on that deck she's going to remember the pain of staining those boards twice.

    *IMPRESSIVEEEEE!* Clap clap clap! This is definitely a project to be proud of! Even with all the ups and downs... Hanging out on this beauty out in the wild is going to make it all worth it! Love love love the wood art. You've really got that down! What a unique design! Meredith... I can't tell ya how impressed I am with you getting out there and doing all that on your own! It's amazing! Getting those beems up onto the roof on! Holy smokes. I would have 💩! With all that gorgeous wood art... Brian + I cannot wait to see what you do with the interior design! Paco... You rocked it too! I am just in awe of my TX sista from another mister. Keep rocking it, young lovers! We are cheering for you! Hope that heat lays off for you soon, and you get a nice Fall down there. The leaves have almost completely fallen off the trees up here... YIKES! Anywas. BIG Love! - E + B

  • @Brunneria
    @Brunneria Před 3 lety +1

    This looks great, and i am v impressed with your tenacity and how you made it look so nice. I have a suggestion though.
    Because you have the top edge of the wood art facing the sky, that top edge, especially where you have exposed cross sections of wood and ply, are going to weather badly. They will absorb water at different rates, swell and discolour. Eventually your art will fall apart.
    I am going to suggest 2 solutions. Both would work. If you did both at once, it would be even better.
    1. Seal that top edge of the art with some kind of cap. A metal strip or a strip of tape. Something weatherproof and light proof that will cover the top and down the sides by a 1/4 inch or so to make the water run off down the front of the panel, not into the wood itself.
    2. Spread your decking boards out a fraction, so that they are evenly spaced, but the outside boards overhang the cross beams by a fraction more than the depth of the art. Then just attach the art so that the front of the art is flush with the side of the deck plank.
    Hope that helps.

    G'day Guys, that looks terrific, well done Meredith that was hard work and you and Paco came through on it. The Thompson's seal is a really great product I have used it on brick work and it's still waterproof after 20 years. When the roof of the bus is painted the deck will look fantastic and the great thing about it the bus has a very long chassis so it looks part of it. That wasn't easy to build it was great watching you build it nice filming and editing, stay safe and well regards John

    Your efforts are admirable however you will need to reapply yearly. Should have stained first then apply the Thompson’s. I used the Thompson’s on my home deck which is why I know about reapplying. Also, be very careful up there because the wood will be slippery when wet for the first few months. Great job lady! Cheers.

    I know I am way behind, but what happened with the one board you showed is called “cupping”. You always install with the cup down so that the pressure and time will flatten it out. That board will eventually warp and need replacing. It probably won’t happen anytime soon but it is something to keep in mind when replacing it

    • @mlviper30
      @mlviper30 Před 3 lety

      Make sure you check your ubolts from time to time. Wood expands and contracts due to weather, the bolts will loosen(regardless of the lock washer). If you have to tighten them, give the holes a good dose of water seal. It will help the wood from rooting inside out. Wood is not like metal, it changes all the time. So just check on it, you have a lot of hard work in it.
