That is one frustrating job, those floorboards did not want to go, I know it has to be done, but I would have given up in frustration (and started again) many times…. But that trip down river was amazing, and that’s one beautiful piece of boat, hope her new owner will spend many happy years with her. Thank you for yet another very enjoyable vid:)
A really picturesque video--perfect for attracting new viewers. Definitely sharing.
That was fabulous thank you. Highland Beauty is just that ... a beauty! High percentage of Christine's commenting thus week ha ha. Best wishes Christine x
Very serene. Thanks for that. Boards.. not so serene... ugly screws!!! Bad screws!! LOL. Very enjoyable again!
You need a core drill. First make one hole in a shelf. Put the shelf with the hole over the prop, put your feet on the shelf besides the hole and drill all the way. Later on, fill the holes with new props and glue(!) so you can re-use the floorboards. It's rather easy to remove the old screws and the props when the floorboards are removed first. When you wrestle with the tongue and groove, just take a circular saw through the seam first. You lose the tong, but that is better than destroying the floorboard. Success
This is a great idea, thank you!!
Nice boat to have a ride on, thanks for talking us along.
Those floorboards! Good job you had your protein beforehand. One of my cats is called Tofu. Lovely trip back up the river 💚
Best wishes for 2024 lass!
Thanks again for sharing 😊
Another lovely vlog, the boat trip was a delight, but the boards are not so good!!!! You take care and thank you.
I really enjoyed the boat ride Beth . You had a real challenge with the floor boards didn't you.
That looked very frustrating job with the floor boards that was very nice cabin cruiser
Love that bit of the river. I was eating Tofu when I watched this but yours looked much tastier than mine.
Hi Beth this video was a window of joy in what is otherwise a very sad week, feel your frustration with the floorboards but as with the other parts of the renovations you will suceed. The boat trip was lovely, another vessel that has been prevented from deteriorating, looks beautiful. Best wishes Chris from Kent
Really glad the video brought some joy.
Hi Beth. Thanks for sharing another excellent video.
The woodwork on Highland Beauty looks amazing. The Thames is stunning as ever.
All the best,
Paul.
My 15metre barge floors were all gone when I bought it I've put down temporary ply flooring and am gradually cleaning the bilges, awful job, going to treat with dynatrol sprayed on
Nice Vlog Beth. Loved the cruise on your friend’s boat, really good looking, beautiful woodwork. After you get the floor boards up do you then have to scrape underneath and treat the metal floor? Thanks for sharing. 🙏😊🤗 Kathy
Thanks Kathy! Yes, when the floorboard come up I'll clear out the rusty crud then rust-treat and paint the bilges then put a new flooring down.
Can you drill the screw heads and then lift the boards?
Or maybe create a few traps and leave most of the boards down.?
I could drill the screws out (although I need new drills) but I think I have an alternative approach. I do need to lift them all to prepare the hull properly though which I'll explain this week!
hello,
I know what kind of job you are facing at . I cleaned the bilge of grease and rust on my 1925 ship about a year ago.
My ship is fortunately in the dry dock where the underwater hull was approved by a ship's expert from the insurance company. A week later I was cleaning the bilge and came across 3 holes... so be a bit careful! Long story short, I am now in the process of replacing the entire underwater hull.
Keep up too good work!
Greetings from Belgium
Geert
Ah, I feel that pain! When I was in the yard they did a full hull survey and ended up over-plating a lot of the underside! This video has a diagram: czcams.com/video/2aQmpIecjNc/video.html

I'm looking forward to your next videos
Hi Beth, could you not screw a screw in the plug and then pull out with a claw hammer?
That's a really good idea but I did try that and the plugs just fall apart. 😕
@@TillerQueen 👍
It must have a DAF in it!
Has two Perkins 6.354, I think. This is a video from the mechanic who did some work on Highland Beauty's engines. czcams.com/video/aktqfFoYb8k/video.html
