    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 4 lety +1

      It depends on your are Jed. IF it's inside a greenhouse, we usually make it at 60% organic materials (compost, coco/peat moss, etc) and 40% of any type or mix of inorganic materials (best with pumice and a bit of lava rocks)

    I'm sorry I'm a bit slow...so dapat po ba na as-in aligned yung cambium nila or kahit slightly-off?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      its ok no worries :) the cambium of the RS and scions must always overlap. cambiums are the bloodvessels of plants, any disconnection will stop the flow of nutrients going to the scion - it will die :)

  • @vanessabelt2747
    @vanessabelt2747 Před 4 lety

    I'm confused! You show a sketch saying to overlap the rootstock and scion vascular rings (diagram of 2 linked rings) BUT then your captions say to align both of the rings. Which is it - off centre or directly on top of each other?

    • @allychan1223

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      Hello Gabo. Usually, dragon fruit cuttings are used because they are cheap yet they are proven to provide the fastest growth rate on grafts. Blue boy, harissa, and other cereus type of cacti are used as well

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      nope, dont put the scion's vascular rings on the middle. there wont be any connection, no nutrients will flow.

    • @SucculentsandSpikes

      Hello naomi. As much as possible try to use a root stock that has roots. An RS(root stock) that is stable is much better used than that of a freshly cut. This also goes the same for all other kinds of rs such as blue boy and harrisa etc

    hello sir, ask lng po ako kung pano po ba ma achieve ang Bright color ng cactus na ipapatong sa dragon fruit stem? from green iiba din ba kulay niya?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      Hi, any green cacti will always remain green. You can expose them to full sun and get color stress (redish) but will be back to its normal color when you get them out of that spot. If you mean color as in variegation, it really wont change to that. variegation is a different thing, its in the genes most of the time though there are some that naturally variegates but its very seldom

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 6 lety

      yes it's way much faster when grafted. As with scion and RS, it must be cactus to cactus and euphorbia to euphorbia

  • @bethanygracemamugay3196

    i tried it po mggraft ng moon cactus ko twice nA. After a month nadededo na xa. why Kaya yun???

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      personally i don't recommend using moon cacti as practice scion coz they have weak resisteance against phatogens or physical damages compared to the normal ones. Though i would always say to check the connection between the scion and RS, that's the usual problem i see. others are due to fungal infections (the brownish thing you see on the wounds). can you describe what had happened to your graft?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  Před 5 lety

      nope, these mutated gymnocalyciums will never live by itself. they don't have Chlorophyll. that's why they always have to be grafted.
