    I kind of lose interest when the price of equipment begins to exceed the price of a decent used car. More competitors should handicap themselves with budget equipment to showcase their skills as tuners and installers.

      Ya I agree. I also think it should be done personally and not paid for. Anyone with enough money to pay the top builders, tuners and equipment have a huge advantage.
      Personal, Id feel embarrassed to win a competition when I paid another to build it. Your money won, not hard work and skills.
      Its like paying pro golfer to take your place in a golfing tournament and then celebrating his accomplishments as your own.
      Paying someone to build your system so you can enjoy quality tunes, but not competing, makes sense to me. But to each their own I guess......
