  • What are the best tires for your Tacoma? Have you lifted your truck or left it stock and are itching to upgrade from your stock tires? In this video I go over the pros and cons of the BFGoodrich KO2 265/75/r16 and the TRD Pro 16” Wheels… and I discuss why I chose them for my setup.

    I also prefer more sidewall than rim, running same size tire on my '21 Tacoma OR. I wanted KO2s but went with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and so far they have not disappointed. My Taco is an every day driver and use on weekends to go out into the Nevada desert to shoot often. Winters have held up in Lake Tahoe and Utah snow even tho not 3 peak rated. Have 20k miles on them so far. Best of all I have a full-size spare under my truck bed. Your truck looks great keep up the channel 🤙🏼

    Nice! Totally agree with the tire size without any mods. I have a 2022 double cab SR5 been researching for good leveling kit (NON spacers), using the stock 16x7 rims that it came with. 265/75/16 is just right. Thanks for posting.

    Hello, thanks for the video. I also have K02's on my 18Tacoma Sport. I have the stock black/aluminum rims with these tires. I LOVE the LOOK. I LOVE the offroad capability (mind you I barely go offroad). I LOVE the capability of Snow with these tires. HOWEVER. I live on the West Coast and we get alot of rain here. These tires are NOT good in the RAIN. Seeing I drive onroad alot in the rain here, I'm dissapointed with these tires. I wish they would come out with an updated tire that is great everywhere PLUS rain. When I change them, I'm not sure I'll go back to K02's . . . . .

    Good choice! I got the same tire/wheels but I stuck with exact stock size 265/70/r16 with no lift. Doesn’t impact acceleration or speedometer so win win. Going an inch bigger makes sense for you since you have a lift. I don’t know about you but I do notice the KO2 I bad on wet pavement. That’s my only complaint.

    I've used those tires on other vehicles..and I'm just not convinced they will withstand highway miles..
    In fact I do not believe they are engineered for above 75mph.
    Every time I start packing on highway miles the tires all apart...slipping belts, unevenware ..out of balance
    Kind of sick of shelling out 1200 for 5 tire and they fall apart ...
    I just got rid of the last Ford I will ever buy and now I'm all about Toyota tacoma and need to catch up...

    Perhaps they will hold up on a mid size vehicle better then a full size...

    I am trying to figure out what look works best for the 2023 Tacoma trd pro that I have coming in … my goal is to keep the ride quality and suspension perfect so not sure if adding a lift (maybe a 2.5 inch front and 1.5 inch in back with possibly the 285/70/17s with a zero offset is a good idea.

      The westcott designs kit looks to be pretty solid for the pro and a lot of people have good feedback on it. I would look into that. I am getting KO2s in the same size you got. I have a TRD OR DC SB. I was wondering what pressure you run on the street. The specs say 80 psi but I’m sure that’s when supporting 3,450 lbs.
    It doesn’t look like you do any off-roading with the mud flaps and the predator steps. I destroyed mine the first time out. I call them pretender steps because they’re only good in parking lots. I now have DeMello sliders. Also I read the TRD lift kit isn’t designed for a long bed. Didn’t the dealer point that out. Maybe they just wanted the money.

      @westcoasttaco  Před 9 měsíci

      Nice! I run mine around 38-40 psi. Correct, I mainly drive on road.. I do have a pair of sliders I am working on getting because as you have experienced.. I have seen too many videos of these steps getting destroyed on the trails.. LOL. It's funny you mentioned the TRD Lift Kit on a DCLB.. That is the whole reason I started this channel.. I couldn't find a DCLB video on CZcams and only found a couple stories on the Tacoma Forums.. To my understanding Toyota didn't do the safety testing's on the more uncommon Tacoma configurations due to "costs/profits".. which is why they say it's "not compatible".. Now, over the past year now I have seen DCLB, Access Cabs, and other "non compatible" configured Tacomas come with the TRD Lift Kit from dealerships.. I guess Toyota either doesn't care anymore or tested the kit on the other configurations.

    • @westcoasttaco
      @westcoasttaco  Před rokem +2

      So I actually found mine on eBay and bought them from a guy who upgraded his rig to 285s… he lived about 45 minutes away from me so I made the drive and picked them up. It cost me $700 for the set and they only had about 2000 miles on them. I had the shop that installed my lift kit install the tires onto my wheels and they charged me $25 a tire to install balance, and align.. when I was looking at buying them brand new, the cost was pretty close to that $1300 mark.. they aren’t the cheapest all terrain tire.. but I think they are worth it.

    This is 2" of lift? I have the same tire, but I'm worried it's gonna look small once I lift the truck...tho I'm stopping at 1.75~2.0" of lift. I'm installing SPC UCA's so I do think moving to 34" is doable, tho truck already needs gears.

    • @JamesReedy
      @JamesReedy Před 14 dny +1

      ...ahh ok 2" I will say I have rubbed. I have 16" wheels with zero offset. It has happened twice when hitting a driveway hard with large steering input. It kisses the liner somewhere, doesn't damage anything. That said I'm stock ride height so after a lift you'd really have to hammer on it to make it happen I assume.

      @westcoasttaco  Před 3 měsíci

      I would find a good wheel & tire shop and try out a few different styles you like.. most tire shops will let you try on a tire to see if it rubs or not before you buy them. That would probably be your best bet. Congrats on the new Taco! 👍🏼
