    Dents can be tapped out perfectly. The most expensive pads, Schmidt, cost $1000 and should be done after every ten years (Haynes, Powell), COA Clean/shine oil adjust $300 at discount, every 1 or 2. The best decision is to buy a new solid silver Powell or Haynes, or Muramatsu. (2, 1, 3). Haynes has the fastest action, if it is a pinned mechanism (lower mass of harder, forged keys = faster response), Powells have the best sound because of their head joints, which are all uniformly spectacular. Approximately half of the greatness of a flutist is in the choice of flute, so take your teacher with you always to check for resonance. It's like tapping watermelons and skill with the instrument is needed. "Heavy wall" Haynes Commercial or better (solid silver everything) body and a Powell head joint is the perfect combination.
    It is funny how flute maker companies fail physics. Gemeinhardt for years put heavy washers inside their keys! Powell today uses heavy "pinless" mechanisms--more reliable, prettier, but slower--instead of silver, they should be using titanium or even better, carbon fiber keywork.

    The best advise I would give to a beginner looking to purchase a flute is to shop with their teacher or buy with a contingency that their teacher approve of the purchase and condition of the flute.......or else buy from a reputable dealer......who will stand behind their product.....such as the Flute Center of NY.........Sam Ash or Music and Arts stores.

    Can't you just tell us the brand flute that is higher quality?

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your comments! There are many higher and lower quality brands. The flute you choose depends on the level you are playing at, and your budget. It also depends on where you live... lots of factors! I would be happy to help you more! - Rebecca | learnfluteonline.com

    are those synthetic/plastic pads?

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 4 lety +1

      It depends on the model/make and level of the flute, but usually the pads are made from layers of cardboard and wool felt. These are glued together and one or two layers of fishskin are wrapped and glued around them. It's a very refined process. There are a couple of different types of pads depending. Hope this answers your question here. -Rebecca LearnFluteOnline.com
