    But there's another one, a Low G Foot Joint made in Japan which gives your Flute the same range as a Violin plus it also improves the intonation on some of the notes which is super super important. There are Flutes pitched in the Key of Bb (like Bb Trumpets) but those are in the process of being revived.

      Yes, there are a few different modified flutes out there besides Alto and Bass flute as well. Fun fun! I love when flute makers get creative!

      You're right. It's very rare. I find that I use the low B the most when I'm playing off of music written for violin, piano, or a vocal score. But, we flutists can just opt to play the entire passage up an octave. Lucky us! -Rebecca

    Technically a b footjoint creates a darker, richer tone, while a c footjoint creates a warmer tone. Also, the gizmo key on the b footjoint allows a much cleaner high c.

    Hi Rebecca! I just found you here. You may want to redo this one as you hold up the "B Foot" when you're talking about the "C Foot" and also you hold up the "C Foot" when you're talking about the "B Foot" (at the very end of your video) :-) But I did find this very helpful as I have just bought a B Foot flute. I've been playing for 51 years now! :-)

      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 4 lety

      Hi Kevin, let me know what you're referring to as being 'wrong time' in this video - I'd love to fix it. Also, you need a B foot to have a gizmo. If you don't have a B foot then a gizmo isn't needed. The gizmo is to close the last key (B). You can purchase a B foot to go with your flute depending on the brand / make / model. Not really needed, but a fun option. :) -Rebecca

    Hi! Is it possible to just switch between C foot and B foot on the same flute? Also, what’s the fingering for the lowest note with B foot? Does it change it for all the other notes?

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Lorraine, this is a great question, it IS possible to swap C foot and B foot IF the make/model allows for them to be the same size. The fingering for the lowest B is the same as low C except you roll onto one more roller bar (there are 2 instead of 1). Having a B foot does not change anything else about playing the flute. No fingerings are altered. Thanks for asking. Hope you get to join us at LearnFluteOnline.com - sounds like you'd be great here! -Rebecca

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 6 lety +2

      Dexter, great question! The flute is a C instrument, but the B-foot allows you to play one note lower than most flutes do (the low B under the staff). If your sheet music has the lowest B below the staff line, you will not be able to play that note unless you have the B-foot. Hope this helps and good luck! ~Rebecca

      I don't think so, unfortunately! I don't have a B-footjoint, but the fingering to play the low b requires an extra roller key!

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  Před 6 lety +3

      Areg, the lowest note that a flute can play without a B-footjoint is the C below the staff line. You do need a B-footjoint to play the low B below that. Fortunately, that low B is not in very many pieces and you can be a successful flutist without it. ~Rebecca

      maybe if you want to play lower b, what I do is to raise the music sheet one octave higher so that I can play the lower b in the music sheet, but technically speaking it is not lower b anymore since I raise the notes one octave higher

      Flutes come with either a C foot joint or a B foot joint. Most student models have C foot. Is this what you’re asking? Let me know so I can clarify. :)
