Of course, everybody is individual, but in general, for men, the ring finger is longer than the index finger (mine is). Then again, maybe that's just Europeans. I don't know. Now, I've had an offset G all this time and never knew it (which is why I came to this video!), and it fits my hand just fine. I have to put my hand at an angle to support the flute on the base of my index finger anyway, so I don't think I'd like the extra reach for an inline G. I think it matters less on a closed hole flute, in any case. BTW, if your ring finger and index finger are exactly the same length, that means you're a werewolf.
I don't know if you noticed but if you're a male, your ring finger is longer than your index while if you're a woman the opposite tends to be true (as seen at 3:40). So, would it be safe to say that an inline flute is better suited for males while an offset is better for females?
In my experience, everyone's fingers are different (male or female) - take a poll of your friends and see if you find a trend though. Fun thought! -Rebecca . I have both my first flute is inline g, with holes , & c foot, and my second flute has offset g, & c foot, and no holes,

It's becoming more and more common to 'not' have an inline G now, so glad you like the offset anyway. .. and I'm glad you aren't a werewolf. :)
