Where's the list? Where's the list?? I guess I have to make the 🦬💩 list. 1. Breakfast is important to start the day. 2. It's bad to eat a meal before bedtime. 3. Calories and portion control. 4. High water consumption. 5. Carb consumption is essential for brain function. 6. Salt is bad. 7. Fiber is important for health. 8. Red meat is very unhealthy. 9. Saturated fat is very unhealthy. 10. We need to cleanse our colon and take supplements. 11. Fruit is essential for health. HIH!! 😊
I truly believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I break my fast usually at 5 o´clock pm and its usually the only meal I eat. Thats why it´s so important to me. I never eat in the morning because I´m not hungry yet. Thank you so much for your down to earth teaching. You are a legend.
so you're probably an early eater. Both exist, and everybody should do as the body tells. I hate breakfast.... I guess you don't like diner? I LOVE diner.
I recently had a mini-stroke and was hospitalized for it for four days. The hospital would not let me have caffeinated coffee, a meatball sandwich, a hamburger (they slipped me an Impossible Burger instead!), and no salt for anything. I was allowed to consume carbs, processed snacks, sugary puddings, fruit juices, and soda. When I skipped meals they were concerned. Since my initial symptoms included nausea, the hospital staff assumed that I was still feeling that way, which I let them think that even though I wasn't nauseated at that time...except by their menu. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone, but, I should not have been surprised by this.
It's disgusting that hospitals promote the SAD diet like this. Even DASH diets a d Mediterranean diets were not good for me. When will the medical profession (especially hospitals) wake up?
They wont pay for decent food. They want to build up the patient with easy cheap carbs as fast as possible and get them out of there with a long list of prescription drugs, and see you next time. If you want a proper healthy recovery go see a functional doctor instead.
Sorry to hear you had TIA. I hope your body healed . I had TIA in 2019, similar story. I am on carnivore diet now. My doc wants me on statins.....What diet you are on now?
When my dad had his heart attack they gave him eggs and ham..... I almost fell over. Of course back then I thought that was bad for you. Praying your doing better
Nothing my barely educated grandmother back in Europe did not know. Yes. We didn’t have Kellogg’s. We could get freshly slaughtered chicken, cattle organ meats, pasture fed eggs, farmer’s cheese, butter and locally grown vegetables and fruit in season. Fish caught in lakes, rivers or in Baltic Sea. There was nice dark dense bread sliced thin. We drank vodka shots but not wine by the bottle. Socialized after working. Only sick people took certain prescribed to them vitamins. We walked a lot. The kids played soccer, volleyball or simply horsed around until dark. Most people died in their 80’s or older.
I want to thank you, not only have i lost weight and improved my blood sugar, the emotional aspects of your videos are far more important than doing Keto perfectly.
Dr. Cyews has always been an intelligent source of information. Watching Sten Eckberg, Nina Teicholz, Jason Fong and others I have come to realize that Robert distills the essence of their science. And he's not an infomercial. Breath of fresh air.
So what? Emotional eating and influenced consumption of crap food are one of the main reasons why our disease rates of the last century and health insurance is so high!
i got sober off drugs, quit smoking, stopped drinking and i beat the final boss of carbs and sugar!!! (i guess we have caffeine addiction too) I just really feel so grateful that I enjoy health. I never, ever thought it could be me. you're absolutely right. fat bombs and almond flour crust is just feeding our minds and will make us relapse. carb addiction is no different from alcoholism. keeping it real, doc.
Love your comment. Retraining our brains is a challenge. Sugar is so bag and I have struggled. Substitutes are just other paths going the same direction. Like you I wondered if it would ever be me. It is, today. 2024 coming on strong. 🎉
I’ve been to many drs. In my 52 years and I have yet to meet one that spoke to me like you do. I wish I had known then what I am learning now and maybe I could have cured myself a lot sooner. Thank you for all that you do and for your blunt, yet extremely informative videos.
Since I'm eating my breakfast between 1-4 PM With 18/6 or 20/4 daily fasting protocols, my body fat dropped form 19% to less than 10% between 2019 December and November 2020. It's all about food and to be more precise, about eating max 20g of carbs per day or less. Even if I trained 3x times per week High intensity interval training for years, my body fat didn't drop until implemented keto + IF. The rest are fairytales.
Going keto was more simple for me than actually re-learning how to trust my body's natural hunger and satiety cues. I've found that the simpler the meals, the easier it is for me to know when I'm done eating. You just hit what I call the "taste wall". It's when the food stops tasting good and the thought of eating more almost grosses me out.
Totally agree. My stomach growls but when I think about eating while on carnivore diet, the taste wall tells me "its lies" and I go about my day with no brainfog and with all the energy I need.
When my friends tell me that I ‘m going to get ill without breakfast, I will tell them ’GARBAGE’!! This video is lovely and easy to remember - thank you. It’s amazing how often these myths are totally believed by people who have heard them over and over again.
Garbage and BS are your favorite medical terms. Thank you for this video which reinforces listening to our bodies, not our addictions when it comes to food. I frequently follow OMAD and have found, as you said, that the later in the day that I eat, the less I crave carbs. Also, for me, that craving usually kicks in @ 8pm on days when I eat earlier. It's taken me almost a year to figure out on my own to eat later in the day to avoid that craving. Wish I had heard of your videos sooner. I could be ahead of the game now instead of catching up. Thanks again.

What a crush I have on Dr. C!!! I'm soon to be 71, as straight as . . . something very straight . . . but Dr. D turns something on in me -- my brain, I think. "Garbage" and "Bullshit" are great choices for his favorite medical word, but I was hoping he was going to go with good, old-fashioned, now so off-limits "S-T-U-P-I-D." Hell yes, it's judgmental -- that's the whole point of saying something is "stupid." I do draw the line at calling people "stupid," that's not only cruel, it's . . . what's the word . . . oh, yes, it's a "stupid" thing to do. People are very smart, all of us -- it's just that our minds can be uniformed, misinformed, ill-informed and that can make the things we do, say, and believe "stupid."
The bonus one was an important lesson for me. Chasing the keto chips and cookies is like vegans obsessing over bacon look-a likes. It keeps you too tied-up in old habits. Once I could stop those habits I started loosing weight again. I can now willingly splurge on a keto “fat-bomb” as dessert at times but I stay aware that it’s a splurge on a pretty strict carnivore diet.
Well said and I agree. I need to remove my look alike keto foods now. Like you, I have adapted my thought processes to recognise and hold myself accountable for making keto treats.
Well said! I had to learn (the hard way!) to stop chasing the keto chips and cookies when I was following keto. I am 90% carnivore now. No more being tied up in old habits and look-a likes, those have to be a hard no for me, forever.
Doctor, you have many great tips in here. Postponing most of one’s eating to later in the day helps with satiety. You are so right about evening cravings. Part of the cause of late night cravings is staying up too late. Early to bed, early to rise,...
As a T2, I’ve had the most success eating big until 1pm then not eating until the next morning. That gives me much better blood sugar numbers when I wake up. I just need to find stuff to do in the evenings.
The way you explain this is spot on, anyone with common sense should understand. It's basic physiology and we didn't evolve from the standard American Diet, we evolved by keeping our diet simple and natural, also I so glad somebody finally said it doesn't matter what time we eat. Seriously! Thank you so much carb addiction doc you're the best
"Carbohydrate look-a-likes do not belong in a standard human diet or Fatbombs." Great info Doc! Deep down my conscious was telling me this but I was hoping it wasn't so... I realized this because I use my peanut butter/ Coconut oil/ Ghee/ Monk fruit/ Almonds Fat bombs as a dessert and also as something to eat to relax to watch TV late at night. Lightbulb moment! I see I'm using this not to feed my body but my substitution ( and convincing myself that I needed the extra fat when I am actually eating for the pleasure). You are the best Doc at focusing on the psychological aspects of our diet and life's routines. Thank you Doc!
When I can't fall asleep after 1-2 hours I get up and fix 1 or two fried eggs in butter. I stand to eat, stay upright for at least 10 minutes them back to bed. This helps me fall asleep within 20 minutes
Bonus point 11! Actually REALLY important and I am guilty as charged. My food cupboard is full of almond flour and psyllium husk (whatever that is?). Habit is a real issue for me. Need to reassess my ‘creeping’ bad habits and focus on, as you say, REAL foods. Thanks again for a really clear, informative and motivational video. Yes it DOES help!
I bet you know this by now, but almonds have a huge oxalate content.Could damage your vascular system. Get away from almonds & peanuts, and almond flour, peanut flour.
since i have an incredibly high insulin level even after 1 yr of carnivore, i MUST count calories. I've already gained 35lbs which is now difficult to lose.
Thank you so very much, for letting us know eating late in not harmful. I'm one of those carb addicted people who get Hunger Horrors if my mind thinks dinner was not enough. I'm carnivore/15 % keto, feel fantastic! Sixty five and lost 130 pounds in two years. Watching the Doctors who help obese people on CZcams, has been the start of lowering insulin used. I'm no longer afraid when my sugar goes below 100, thanks to you 😊 Working hard to bring my a1c to 5. I have gone from 9.6 to 6.3 - Endocrinologist is dancing and so pleased. She's now seeing me every 6 months, and has yet asked me how I lost this weight. Very grateful for all the dedicated Doctor's who are helping us on line 😊❤

My preference is to eat before bed but my fasting blood sugar is lower if I eat earlier. I agree that fasting at night is harder than fasting in the morning but it’s worth it for me
Just started using Redman’s salt. It is SO much more flavorful than regular salt! I even add a pinch to my coffee grounds before brewing. Enhances the flavor and tones down the bitterness.
#2 was the most interesting to me. I’ve always thought eating right before bed was inherently bad, but this concept of not giving yourself that vulnerable gap to binge eat on unhealthy foods between your last meal of the day and when you go to sleep makes an incredible amount of sense. Thanks doc, great advice 🙏
Love this list. Thanks Dr. Cywes for presenting this information in a way that’s easy to understand and entertaining. I believe you and your videos are making a difference 😊
After I went on a very low carb diet, I lost 10 kgs in a matter of months. I have been predominantly vegetarian for almost 30 years, but it was the carbs that made me gain weight. I have dairy, butter, eggs, olive oil, virgin coconut oil, nuts, and seeds. So, it's a low carb for me. I do not have fruit because of the sugar.
This was so great really needed this. I have gone to weight watchers over 40 years off and on. I have a binge disorder and trying to get that under control. Any tips on that would be much appreciated. I feel like in the evenings I have no brain to think and I eat with no recollections. I have lost 89lbs and very happy with that want to lose more. Thank you for everything you do. BULLSHIT! My favorite too!
Def B.S and garbage! Thanks for all your help! Lost 63 lbs since May and feel great. But it’s the addiction part and breaking free from carbs that make me feel even better. Happy New Year from Ontario, Canada!
Always such sage information. Thanks for all you’ve done to illuminate the no [insert medical term here] way to regain control of our bodies. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas.
If I really listened to my body, I would have my first meal around 6:00 o'clock and a snack just before bedtime, leaving my whole day without digestive activity whatsoever. Makes a lot more sense to me: I feel lighter and more alert when I need to be - during the day! Also, that gives me a nice 20-or-so-hour fast each day!
Where's the list? Where's the list?? I guess I have to make the 🦬💩 list.

You always come up with what I need to listen to 🦄
After I went on a very low carb diet, I lost 10 kgs in a matter of months. I have been predominantly vegetarian for almost 30 years, but it was the carbs that made me gain weight. I have dairy, butter, eggs, olive oil, virgin coconut oil, nuts, and seeds. So, it's a low carb for me. I do not have fruit because of the sugar.
Been binge watching your content , it’s great thanks for all the information 👍🏼
I love your passion for telling people like it is and explaining things in ways most can understand! Thank you!

You always know what to say and when to say it!
