This is a better Great War depiction than Wonder Woman. They even showed there were rows of trenches.
Wonder Woman movie should took events during WW2, like it was in comics. I hate that they showed WW1 Germans, like bad guys

In highschool teachers should tell us this kind of things, to show us that in war, soldiers are just normal people who don't really want to fight, as we can see on the christmas of 1914.
Where ya come from? Because I live in Germany and we spoke about the good German soldier who were soldiers because they had too instead of getting killed by the nazi regime

Can you imagine how it must feel after spending one day with the enemy, to find out you and him are simply one and the same, humans, only to have to destroy that very same humanity the next day, it’s beyond killing another, it’s killing a part of yourself

Its also why many parts of the front refused to fight. A good representation of what happened all over the frontline is Joyeux Noel
Thats why in modern wars every enemy gets painted as a terrorist. Somebody who "cant be forgiven", somebody that has no humanity left.
In some parts it nearly lasted a week

Nice revisionism, it had nothing to do with that, it was due to alliances and duty to fullfill them, otherwise you would have a more fractured Europe than before the war, which would lead to a multitude of wars because nobody would trust oathbreakers and would want rightfully revenge from being betrayed.
A world war was unavoidable and still is now and will always be until one single nation, culture and race rules the world, if you dont want yourself, your family, your people, culture and the nation your ancestors built be destroyed than you will fight for its supremacy until your nation, race and your culture rules the world.

@@strikeforce1500 nothing to do with that, if they didn't attack Serbia it would incentive and send the message that it was fine for serbian ---redacted--- to attack Austrian leaders, and would cause more Separatist groups to commit ---redacted-- acts, and would most likely lead to civil war.
Also they would look extremely weak and without a backbone, which means other other nations would definitely see you as weak and would destabilize and invade Austria-Hungary.

There was a line from the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth when he comments on the irony of the Christmas Truce. "Both sides advance farther in one Christmas piss-up than they do an entire war."
I just hope the new Sabaton album will have a song about the Christmas truce.

Well if depending war novels is what you are after then I highly recommend “Im Westen nichts neues” (“All quite one the western front” is the English title I think ), a German anti war novel written by the WW 1 veteran Erich Maria Remarque, where the main character is pretty much an author insert. It is a great book

I’d recommend the book “Storm of Steel”
Infantry attackes is a great book too. It not only showes what the war was like, but also how it was fought on the tactical side of things. It was written by erwin rommel and published in 1937. He also wrote about how the experiences of ww1 should be used in a later war. I can highly recommend it.

I've seen this in school when I was younger. A great 20 minute film. It's well worth the watch for the Christmas truce, and how bad it was for teenage boys. Although sadly Sabaton didn't have any ideas how to do the Christmas Truce, they admit that during the Attack Of The Deadmen Sabaton Histories episode.

The worst part is how they just immediately went back to slaughtering each other after christmas.
If I remember correctly some units went on into the next year refusing to fight after the Christmas Truce

I like how it showed some other bits of the story like the German barber giving haircuts and the English officer trying to get them to kick balls while charging the German lines
Be home by Christmas they were told. It would be a short war over and done with in time. But look at it Father's Leaving their wife's and kids alone. Sons going to war to never come home. War is pointless and only causes pain and Suffering of those involved.
And those not involved over half the casualties were civilian

It's actually based on true storey. Soldiers were so tired of fighting and wanted the war to end that Germans and English men celebrated Christmas together

Why does people seem to think it'll be always over before Christmas? Many times in history it has been said and many times they don't even come back and those who do come back sometimes don't even have a home or family to come back to.
As always war is hell
Because you'll always think you are technologically, militarily etc. superior to your enemy.
They have to tell soldiers that. If the govt. Instead said "most of you will never come back, because you'll be dead" most soldiers would probably mutiny.
