I do appreciate how the maker left out any of the magic moments (Ice spears aside) to make it about the bravery of soldiers and the chaos of war. My Great-Grandfather on my fathers side fought for Kaiser and Fatherland during the First World War and my Great-Grandfather on my mothers fought for King and Empire during the same. This song and video remind me of stories I have read from their diaries.

What I like the fact that the 'French' people in this Anime is actually trying their best to fight the 'Nazi Germany' and if we ignore the magic and witches, it is what we got like this AMV, brave men and even women (At the camp helping soldiers) are doing all they can to survive the invasion, despite being actually pummeled due to their outdated weapons

A really good AMV. It has been some time, since I have watched this Anime, it surely had one, if not the coolest german weapons and fights displayed in a great way. Unfortunatly, if I remember right, the story of the Anime wasn't that good, even if it had much potential. If someon would create an Anime which adapts all good parts of Youjo Senki and Izetta, this would become a masterpice. And since most of this kind of Anime is just fiction with more or less historical accurate inspiration, it would be a nice thing to finally have an Anime with a cool Germany, that wins the war. (Even if they are evil). But I think this will always just be a dream and no Anime... The fact is that, in 1940 the Werhmacht is as ready for war as the French army, the offensive of the Ardennes could be describe this way, a solid point of steel on a rotten handle. Poles had mostly French WW1 equipment (hence the German steamroll) They never got time or money to modernize their military and couldn't do much. This video gives the Poles a lot more than they had cause irl, the poles probably had worse tanks, had horses against panzers, didn't have effective radio communication and I doubt had any mountain bunkers that the Germans actually attacked (The germans legit went around all the bunkers and fortifications, cut off their supplies, and starved them out, quite efficient)

Mobile Suit Gundam Tomino took Starship Troopers + WWII + Israeli/Palestine's Politics and fused it into a story that helped cause a fan base to be completely crossed between who to root for by the time the 1988 film came out. With Newtype Evolution Preached by the Zeon (space Nazis) basically replacing Aryanism. Beautiful example being the Valkyria Chronicles video game series, original plot, and concept of the game revolved around a faction which uniforms, weapons and tanks were pretty much "Nazi Germany" with the running Title of Gallian Panzers, but being the game was planned to be released in the west, they switch the protagonist faction over to a more of a "French+Holland" like faction instead with the "Empire" being a stereotypical "Nazi/USSR" super enemy. Hint of Irony being Izetta the Protagonist faction is yet another cross similar as a Pseudo French+Switzerland like faction. What is more funny is Wehrboos are fans of Japanese war anime for the very reason of their more neutral portrayal of fascism. Get the picture? I mean if you watch the first 4 episodes of Gundam Unicorn for example, for god sakes it's a Historical Revisionist Vibe up the wazoo. I f***ing clapped because I knew most viewers wouldn't even notice. Because in the end it gave a "So f***ing what?" Attitude as dwelling on past wrongs will just prolong the fractures between nations. I think the message in Unicorn itself was directed toward modern day fascist and national socialist to let go of the past, and live in the future.

What I like the fact that the 'French' people in this Anime is actually trying their best to fight the 'Nazi Germany' and if we ignore the magic and witches, it is what we got like this AMV, brave men and even women (At the camp helping soldiers) are doing all they can to survive the invasion, despite being actually pummeled due to their outdated weapons

A really good AMV.
It has been some time, since I have watched this Anime, it surely had one, if not the coolest german weapons and fights displayed in a great way.
Unfortunatly, if I remember right, the story of the Anime wasn't that good, even if it had much potential.
If someon would create an Anime which adapts all good parts of Youjo Senki and Izetta, this would become a masterpice.
And since most of this kind of Anime is just fiction with more or less historical accurate inspiration, it would be a nice thing to finally have an Anime with a cool Germany, that wins the war.
(Even if they are evil).
But I think this will always just be a dream and no Anime...
So, now I havn't sayed much to this Video here, but this where the thoughts I got while watching this great AMV, and I just had to comment it.

The fact is that, in 1940 the Werhmacht is as ready for war as the French army, the offensive of the Ardennes could be describe this way, a solid point of steel on a rotten handle. The french were took by surprise, so they couldn't break the handle, but for Germany it was, above all else, a matter of luck.

Poles had mostly French WW1 equipment (hence the German steamroll) They never got time or money to modernize their military and couldn't do much. This video gives the Poles a lot more than they had cause irl, the poles probably had worse tanks, had horses against panzers, didn't have effective radio communication and I doubt had any mountain bunkers that the Germans actually attacked (The germans legit went around all the bunkers and fortifications, cut off their supplies, and starved them out, quite efficient)

Because, irrc, not many were a fan of the military take over in Japan. Hell, even when Japan surrendered to the U.S., the same fanatic militarists that took over plotted to have the Emperor killed to prevent the surrender or something like that.
Right there is a certain amount of Respect for the German Military, cause not every soldier was a Nazi, Which is something that is in decline today.
However Japan has this weird mind set of "Nothing we did in ww2 was wrong, its all expansionist America's Fault" so they don't want to promote the Nazi's who after the war admitted to a lot of wrong doings.
+Rory Hardly. Both Japan and China Nazi Germany is looked upon a lot differently than the west. Most anime which portrays them poorly are mostly productions that are absolutely not serious or specifically marketed toward the west.
To express what I mean, look into Universal Century Gundam, Kerberos Panzer Corps. Mobile Suit Gundam Tomino took Starship Troopers + WWII + Israeli/Palestine's Politics and fused it into a story that helped cause a fan base to be completely crossed between who to root for by the time the 1988 film came out. With Newtype Evolution Preached by the Zeon (space Nazis) basically replacing Aryanism.
Beautiful example being the Valkyria Chronicles video game series, original plot, and concept of the game revolved around a faction which uniforms, weapons and tanks were pretty much "Nazi Germany" with the running Title of Gallian Panzers, but being the game was planned to be released in the west, they switch the protagonist faction over to a more of a "French+Holland" like faction instead with the "Empire" being a stereotypical "Nazi/USSR" super enemy.
Hint of Irony being Izetta the Protagonist faction is yet another cross similar as a Pseudo French+Switzerland like faction. What is more funny is Wehrboos are fans of Japanese war anime for the very reason of their more neutral portrayal of fascism.
Get the picture? I mean if you watch the first 4 episodes of Gundam Unicorn for example, for god sakes it's a Historical Revisionist Vibe up the wazoo. I f***ing clapped because I knew most viewers wouldn't even notice. Because in the end it gave a "So f***ing what?" Attitude as dwelling on past wrongs will just prolong the fractures between nations. I think the message in Unicorn itself was directed toward modern day fascist and national socialist to let go of the past, and live in the future.

For anyone who asks what the title of the anime is, READ THE VIDEOS TITLE, it's in there, also, is it me or would this anime be much better if the anime had no witch/magic, and focused on the weaker side as they struggle against a much more superior army and try to survive and stay ahead of them, while putting up what little resistance as they, the obvious losing side, could.
