      6 pints of blood and a couple ounces of semen (donated at proper facilities, ya cant just go asking people on the street) would land you enough dough to get into 3d printing then you can have all the new minis to your hearts content.

    I took a two year break from painting due to my anxiety and fear of failure around painting mini's but I just recently started painting again last week. Watching videos like this can be helpful but I need to accept that I'm still new to the hobby and I'm obviously going to make a ton of mistakes as I learn.

    • @samuelbroad11
      @samuelbroad11 Před rokem +6

      all those mistakes are actually new techniques for your tool box. sounds facetious but it's true. Another tip is to paint your favourite mini's, don't wait until you're "good" enough. Just do it because you like the sculpt. Good luck with your anxiety, I know it can be paralysing.

      I used to paint minis with the exact same attitude. What helped me was playing around with low stake figures. I could learn how to paint and not ruin them. The only goal was fun. When I went back to the more expensive amazingly sculpts the anxiety of messing up was gone. Learning is part of the fun but we ruin it by unrealistic expectations. Midwinter minis video where he just decide to paint up his precious space hulk figures started the process for me. Who cares if you paint them the wrong shade of red. Ha ha. It’s just for enjoyment

    • @samuelbroad11
      @samuelbroad11 Před rokem +1

      @@carlstanford7607 exactly this too. Bunch 4-6 minis, maybe with some variety in the sculpts, but racing through the same or similar colour schemes can get your mojo fired up. Never underestimate an oil wash and wipe afterwards too, especially on figures you care less for.

    I painted my last mini a couple weeks ago. I haven’t had much motivation recently and other things have occupied my time. Although I did buy a new set that I am very excited for and want to paint in this style! Thank you for the awesome content as always!

    It's been a couple weeks since I've painted anything, but months since I've completed a mini. This definitely gave me a couple ideas to use on the squad I currently have half painted.

    Painted yesterday. It was something that I'm looking forward to getting to the table, so it was worth spending some extra time on, but I'm looking forward to slaying some grey with this more minimal permission-giving approach. I need to knock out my Tokkaido minis, and this will be perfect!

    I just finished painting the Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corp board game last weekend. I started painting at the beginning of 2022 and have really been enjoying the hobby. CZcams channels like yours have definitely been an inspiration. Thank you

    I added some shading to some space marines earlier today, as I type this I'm building Terminators from Leviathan.
    Really enjoy the videos and the hobby philosophy you promote. My biggest problem when I got back into minis during covid was that each mini wasn't always better than the last. Being able to paint just to enjoy it and get some color on the models was almost harder than learning how to properly blend.
    Appreciate what you do man, keep it coming.

    I painted my last mini 26 years ago. But after I bought a 3D printer and watched your videos, I'm catching fire again. The first print is ready and this weekend it's time to slay the grey again. Thank you for reviving a hobby of mine that has been dormant for a long time!

    Beautiful video. I really appreciated the advice here to just paint with the advocacy to do something simple but not robotic. It's been many months since I last painted. This video is gonna change that.

    About a month ago, I had a nice few hour painting session. Before that it had been several months. But last summer my hub and I had a real streak going of a few nights each week. I’m hoping to get back around to that. So many hobbies, so little time. I appreciate your inspiration though, both the faster and the more technical styles. I always learn a lot!

    I'm painting as I watch this video. I am definitely going to try the black basing/dual color shading. My usual is a grey primer, but your last few videos have given me the incentive to try it out.

    I finished up my first Ork Boyz ever a couple hours ago. First time painting, I did the slap-chop method. They came out great, it was a lot of fun to sit down for a couple hours every day and put on a few colors. Lessons were learned, and while not great, they are far better than I had hoped.

    Last time I painted was 2 days ago when I finished my Kill team Death Korps of Krieg. It was one of my favourite projects and I tried lots of new stuff: osl, freehand camo, nmm, heat damage. I was so happy with them that I'm building my first diorama for them.
    I'm also at very good place with my painting. No stress only fun. I paint what I want when I want and I'm super happy with my skill even though I don't use hard techniques

  • @BadgerLovingFluffster

    Nice vid Jon. It is refreshing to see a top level painter just kick back and let loose. I fret may too much over having to paint every mini the best I can and kick myself that I can't "let go" and just be happy to paint to get stuff done. Masses of zombies or whole other board games remain unpainted instead of just getting some colour on them. Last mini I painted was Wednesday and Thursday last week so 4-5 days ago. I will probably start on something else tonight

    The last minis I painted (3 Canoptek Scarab Swarms) were a little over 4 weeks ago, but I did build 3 more scarab swarm bases 2 days ago. Progress!
    Mainly I kinds stopped painting because I wasn't sure how 10th Ed was going to impact my army building plans, but now that the indexes have dropped it's back to paining on the regular(ish).
