      Why bother with complexity?
      I made mine with sprinkler head. Works excellent completely silent my Marauder. I meant completely silent!!!!!
      This one well he is making without shot so I can hear how quieter the gun is. I don't buy that this method works.
      Simple is best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      My style:
      1. Sprinkler head
      2. Carbon filter foam
      Watch the Utube search it shows how to modify.
      I did my first one in about 1 hour. The hardest is figure a way to attach to the barrel.
      It works excellent!!!!!!!!

    I’m impressed by your work. Ive researched quite a lot about suppressors for airsoft on gas. When I see people doing the normal “roll of foam” I know that doesn’t do much. Your video was intriguing. I’ve got a beautifully crafted Gemtech trinity replica. It comes with foam baffle rings. I’ve been thinking about it and the foam baffles have no gaps between them when packed in. So whilst they give a resonant suppression (softer walls for the sound waves to reflect off as opposed to the aluminium interior sides of the silencer) there is no where for the gas to expand into. Foam is quite dense for a fast gas to hit and it will take the path of least resistance and follows the protectile out the exit hole, which is quite large. It has to be to avoid risk of a strike. It’s the gas rapidly expanding out of the exit hole of a mock suppressor or barrel into atmospheric pressure that creates the crack or loud pop. A bit like popping a balloon. What you need is like you’ve done, a method of expansion within the suppressor. I’ve been considering removing half the baffles and allowing space between each one. But having seen your video I though “now that’s a baffle”. I might experiment with some builders foam myself if I can find the right diametre.

      It's the wrong kind of foam to not make "baffles".
      If you're going to leave the foam tube intact, it needs to be "open-cell" foam.
      Pipe lagging like in this video is "closed-cell" foam.

    in the late 80's I played a lot of paintball. We used to make suppressors for our paintball guns. One weekend ATF showed up and told us if we still had them when they came back we would be arrest for violation (of whatever the text of the suppressor law is) We told them that was BS they were PVC used on paintball guns which were not fire arms. They responded by saying that you could adapt it to a real firearm. We said that was BS if they were used on a real firearm they would blow apart. They told us we could do whatever we wanted but if we had them when they came back we would be going to jail. Needless to say we stopped using them. Just an observation...

      The "baffles" he's made direct the air blast from the muzzle away from the centre into the tube so that the sound can be absorbed.

    • @airindiana
      @airindiana Před 5 lety

      See my comment in the main section. The loud crack you hear is from the gas exiting the barrel into the sudden drop of atmospheric pressure. Like popping a balloon. You need more than sound deadening material like foam. It’s why mere foam suppressors don’t really work well. Foam deadens sound waves, like in your house or car, but on its own won’t deal with the cause of the loud muzzle report. You need a way to get the gases to expand within the suppressor tube and do it slow enough (still milliseconds) that the drop to atmospheric pressure is slower and contained within the tube. A hollow tube wouldn’t work as the gases would expand too rapidly and “pop” out with the B.B. baffles achieve this by effectively creating a maze that forces the gas to travel around.

    Looks nice.
    But if you spent the money on any gun you can spent a few more for a suppressor

      That is true. But mostly DIY "fulfillment" is better than the original. Im still talking about ASG silencers. Cheers.

      This moderator has the potential to be better than a lot of the ones in the marketplace, Airgun prices are going through the roof and saving a bit of money on after market accessories can be a good thing, could buy a couple of tins pellets, some hunters aren't minted and shoot on a budget!

      Bobby Thompson make sense what your saying.
      It's true as far as a price tag increases on the Airsoft.
      I purchased 5 with in the last month.
      Highly addictive I tell ya..

    Am i the only one that thought to use this foam as a pattern for a mold an then melt some metal to make it work for a real gun?

    • @maxb186
      @maxb186 Před 4 lety +1

      You dont need, some car fuel filter from napa have the same pattern with already a 8mm hole in each section, almost 40$, after you need an adapter (30$) 9/16-24 to 5/8-24 (24 is the numbers of thread per inch) and make a hole of 7mm in the cap at the other end 😉 i tried one on my G&G SRL and it work really well, and i modified another one for my real mp5... Better than a real supressor at 200$ for juste 70$ (filter+adapter)

    You didn't use it, so what's the point of watching you make it. if we can't hear it afterwards???
    That is something we would make when we're about 7 or 8 years old.
