    I just received my stamp and picked up my Obsidian 45 last weekend. It works perfectly. I used it on my Scorpion EVO3 pistol with Rugged’s fixed barrel spacer and the 9mm end cap. My neighbor thought I was shooting a pellet gun. That right there tells you how well it works. The suppression with subsonic ammunition is just simply amazing.
    Now, for Rugged’s customer service. They are also amazing. I had seen that on other reviews, which is part of the reason why I went with the Obsidian 45. My first time using it, a bullet barely struck the 9mm end cap. It did not damage the baffles or the tube. I believe it was my fault, as the cap that tightens the piston into the suppressor was not completely tightened down. I discovered that it stuck a little on the piston, so although I thought it was tightened, it had a little to go. That slight play resulted in the bullet striking the end cap. After contacting Rugged, they sent me a new end cap, spring, and piston cap (the one that was sticking on the piston) free of charge within two days. Bottom line, their customer service is amazing and they stand behind their products. 5 stars all of the way around. For the product and the quality.

      Hey I just wanted to let you know (as I own one myself) I spoke to a rep at Rugged and he told me to keep the
      45 end cap on the suppressor, not to swap to 9mm when shooting 9mm. There have been reports of end cap strikes with 9mm ammo when doing that. FYI

    • @dustinduncan1730

      CAN confirm. Still rated quietest 45 supp. Came here to see if he could give me some pointers on taking it apart. Very stiff before first use. Can't get some of the baffles apart. Operator manual says use hex key but the thought of marring something I waited waaaay too long to take home, has me hesitant...and he didn't break it apart on camera...probably because he struggled too.
      Edit: I used the end of a hard plastic kitchen stirring spoon and a rubber mallet for the really difficult ones.

      I do with my Obsidian 9. It sucks to clean it, but it’s incredibly quiet. I have a Dead Air Odessa 9 coming that i’ll probably use mostly as a 22lr can. I’ve always thought that 22lr cans were the quietest.

    n00b question. isn't shooting rimfire bad on suppressors like this? I guess since you can easily clean it, it's not a big deal?

    • @nfareview
      @nfareview  Před 8 lety +9

      +JohnBoy It's user serviceable so no biggie. I was the first person to ever shoot 22lr through the Obsidian. I thought that's cool lol.

      +NFA Review Channel cool. Thanks for answering my question. I just ordered this bad boy last night. I was planning on getting a dedicated rimfire can but if that doesn't happen before the new ATF rules kick in, I might be ok with throwing the obsidian on my 10/22.

    Being that I have a Dead Air Sandman S in jail, I want to keep the modular pistol can in the Dead Air family so to speak. That said, this Rugged Obsidian sounds great on the video. If you wouldn't mind, I have a few questions.
    Which sounded better to your ear? Ghost long, wet, wiped, or Obsidian long, wet?
    Which sounds better on a 9mm AR SBR?
    Do both come apart easy when fouled?
    Thanks for all of the awesome reviews.

    This is my next suppressor, and will be my first pistol can...When you say you're running it "wet", you literally just put it in water? I've never done that with any of my other (rifle) cans...Thanks!

      Watched someone duel-weilding FNX45 Tacticals. One with the obsidian and one with the ghost, and to me it seems the Obsidian is quieter. The Ghost had a little bit of a higher crack to it, where the Obsididan just had the deeper tone to be expected. Both guns were firing 230 gr projectiles

    Fairly new to this new toy what is a different between dry and wet?

    • @ainusa1534
      @ainusa1534 Před 8 lety

      +mario serna wet is when you put a few ml of water in the can.

    • @franka7691
      @franka7691 Před 8 lety

      +mario serna Wet is quieter because an ablative media such as water, pulling gel, or oil is inserted in the suppressor, absorbing heat, and thereby reducing flash and sound.

    • @kassenz
      @kassenz Před 8 lety +1

      "wet" prevents the oxygen inside the Can from igniting. More suppression for the first few rounds, and prevents the louder "First round Pop" noise

      @BenChauPhotos Před 8 lety

      +Kris Kassens I almost snagged a Ti-Rant 45M in mid 2015 but i couldn't convince myself to buy a AAC product since hearing about the company is being run into the ground by Freedom Group (which is ruining Remington).

    • @kassenz
      @kassenz Před 8 lety

      I agree. I heard AAC changed ownership, so a lot of the talent behind AAC has left.
      Not sure what kind of availability or quality mounts and accessories will have in the future. Both Dead Air and Rugged are new companies but years of experience in the business before SilencerCo changed management. These Cans make it hard to consider other companies YHM or Thompson machine for a 45 Can. Check out the Liberty Cosmic...223/556 or 45acp! Same with the SiCo Hybrid too pistol or rifle Can
