- Welcome to Suppressor Science! The video series where we explore anything and everything that has to do with suppressors.
EP 01: 3-Lug
There’s no faster way to attach and detach your suppressor than 3-Lug. With a flick of the wrist, you’re ready to go. However, just like with all things in life the 3-Lug system does have its limitations. Sit back and enjoy while we take a deep dive into the world of 3-Lug glory. - Sport
Now this is my type of video!
Suppressor nerds love these behind the scene videos.
We have plenty more in the pipeline coming your way!
@@SilencerCo What about a three lug on a fixed barrel handgun like a Beretta M9? I understand from the video that it doesn’t work on tilt barrel because all that extra weight preventing it from tilting and ejecting and loading a new round. But with a fixed barrel it’s not really an issue because the Beretta. Can you confirm or refute this?
This guy has one of the coolest jobs in the world
Meanwhile the majority of the rest of us slave away in jobs we don't like so we can buy his products...
The only way to make that job any cooler is to have naked Hooters girls reloading his magazines for him.
@@toddr2265 Hmmm, select-fire guns, suppressors AND naked Hooters girls...that would be the best job in history! ;)
Hell yeah!!!! I would sweep up the brass and clean the weapons just to walk in his shadow
My thoughts exactly, but that's really when I watch almost any gun tube channel. Having any position on the Garand Thumb or Brandon Herrera teams wouldn't be a bad way to live either.
This is the stuff that i appreciate. It brings a bit of realism for newer enthusiasts or people who are new to suppressors. Its not hollywood. There are limitations and catches to everything.
I also love when a company cares so much about educating people about the products they sell it shows us that you love it too.
This video only needs one thing ... MOAR SCIENCE!
Please keep making cool sciency suppressor videos
You should defiantly sell the 3 lug 22lr adapter
spyder2782 gemtech makes one. It’s neat but pricy
@@KG370 thank you
A 3 lug adapter for the PPK 22lr would be awesome
Gemtech one sucks...too loose. I had light baffle strikes. Also, kinda long.
@@KG370 finally bought my first suppressor. Just waiting on the stamp. I will look at getting the griffon mount. Srd22x
Informative and very well done. I like that you are doing suppressor-science videos, I've always thought that a lot of the issues around the MAAD mount could have been avoided if Silencerco had put out an instructional video on it.
Very informative! Thank you for the demos and intricacies of the 3 lug. Well done.
Thanks Jake, I learned a couple things this morning listening to you. Some day I dream of having a suppressor. Until then, I soak up intel.
Do it man. Its great
Awesome video. Answered all my 3 lug questions. Definitely going to install a 3 lug system on a couple of my sub guns! Many thanks guys.
Great video SiCo. Love the science!
great video, well edited and lots of detail... good stuff.
Appreciate the video. Definitely learned something new
Exactly the information I was looking for! Thank you for actually considering the vastness of our curiosity.
Okay the “1…2… you guessed it… C” joke was actually funny
Awesome video, keep them coming.
Awesome, thank you for making and sharing this video.
Great video... and expert timing. Was just looking to add a 3 lug to my Octane 9 and CZ Scorpion SBR. Now you just need to get the Lo-pro Adapters back in stock!!!!
We are definitely working on it! Thanks for watching.
You beat me to it. My 9k hasn’t come off my Evo since it got out of jail. But I have a gen 1 with those damn 18mm threads, with the adapter it’s just too long.
@@joshreynolds72 gotta get that barrel cut. Not only is the 18x1 a PITA to find accessories for... lots of them arent exactly concentric!
@@FC_Jason yes I do, that 18mm is a PITA.
3 lug is a game changer. I have a KP9 converted into a SBR and with the Rugged Obsidian, it will not fit in my case. So much easier to just pop off and twist on instead of screwing it all the way down and off to get in and out of the case. So nice
I have the same suppressor did you have trouble with it unscrewing itself all the time
@@MrMrbrianbechtel just need to buy the tool to tighten everything up good. Always check it and make sure nothing is becoming too loose after shooting. Mine has became maybe a quarter turn loose after 200 rounds but, I'm not too worried about it. Probably normal. I gave it a good snug down after it cooled off.
Like these types of videos!
Excellent video! Very informative.
Thanks for the honest overview! I didn't realize there was some play. I think I'll stick to direct thread for now.
Thank you for the information
What a great informative video.
One of the coolest job I’ve ever seen !! God bless America 🇺🇸
And God Bless you Kid Sanjose!
Great stuff!
Great information, would love to see more videos like this! I still need to pick up a Omega 9k eventually, looks so good on everything :D
Don't worry, there's more on the way!
Great information. I learned a lot.
Thanks. Answered many questions.
did that .22lr 3 lug adapter ever become available? I would love to have one.
Great information, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by and giving the video a watch!
very nice video!! thank you
Thanks! Very informative!
Thanks for watching!
Like always great work brada🤙
Would love that the 3 lug worked with the osprey series for fixed barrels. Please make it happen!
I need a 3-lug for my osprey 45 too
Coolest job 💪🏽
Amazing video!
Best job ever
Heads up for anyone curious, you can use a 3 lug on certain pistols that don't use the tilting barrel. Couple that instantly come to mind are:
1. Beretta M9a3, or any other M9/92 series with a threaded barrel
2. 1911 with threaded barrel
I know it's an old comment, but isn't the 1911 famous for its tilting barrel?
I think it drops not necessarily tilts
You have no idea what you’re talking about
Great video. 👍
Talk about a dream job!
Thank for this video
Thank you for doing this eppisode of
DIRTY JOBS
with mike monroe 😁🤠💥
Great vids
Very helpful
Love it. Please make more
More coming your way!
I would LOVE to go play in their "office" for a day!
Thank you! This video was super informative and provided a lot of insight to the concepts I've read on Reddit but weren't familiar with since my suppressors are still in jail.
Thanks for the Video of Three Lug Suppressor I have CZ Scorpion 9mm I would love to Add this to my CZ
Great products, my only can is from you guys and my next ones will be as well
Thanks for watching Nicholas. We are happy to hear you enjoy your suppressor!
Great video
great video! thanks for the knowleddge 3 lug 22lr would buy few them fo-sho!!!
I think you have the best job in the universe.
Cool job much😮
Awesome video hope to see more.
What ear pro is that?
Wish the octane wasn’t discontinued
Ear pro is Peltor Sport Tactical 500, with optional 3M Gel Sealing Rings. (Which are amazing!!)
What about a 3 lug for 5.7x28? Would that burn up the o-ring too quick?
I wasnt really interested in the maxim 9.. but the non-nfa one .. GIVE IT TO ME!
We will absolutely give you one in exchange for an undisclosed amount of U.S currency.
@@SilencerCo disclose it and let's do some business!
@PhillyGarbageKing We've got one with your name on it. Sort of. Probably. Someday. Soon. Maybe.
@@SilencerCo Funny. Count me IN on that one.
I want a non-nfa maxim 9 so I can then put my nfa item on it! ;) That is cool! The perfect companion to my radially-delayed blowback SBR.
.22 3-lug adapter please. yes i know gemtech offers one but a generic 3-lug would be nice
The Gemtech's are nice except one has to mark their cans and lug mount because one lug is bigger than the others. It is a positive lock-up but I'm not sure that feature is needed. I've marked and scratched all of mine so I can see or feel them but I'd vote for a more universal or generic type.
Thank you for the info on the 3-lug.
As a side note, the bolt hold open on ruger mk series .22 pistols shouldn't be used as a bolt release. I had to touch up one on a mk2 target model when it became rounded over from doing just that.
Again, great info!
Thanks, just got my first 3-lug adapter and this answered a lot of my questions! Do you ever have the suppressor come loose on a 3-lug mount? The wiggle makes be a bit concerned about baffle strikes.
OMG can I move in there!!
Hey man. Nice video. I’m going to go get a Omega9k from silencerco in a couple days, to attach it on a my Cz Scorpion Evo 3 what else will I need? Will I only need a 3-Lug Mount? I’m new to the suppressor scene so I’m a little lost.
Great review man, is there any suppression difference between a tri-lug and a thread on suppressor?
I have one of your newer 3 lug mounts. Is the rear crescent wrench portion loctited or something? I want to disassemble it for cleaning/O-ring replacement in the future.
The man asked if I learned anything ? He'll yea, those MP5'S just made my mouth water !!!
BnT APC 10mm pistol just came out 2020.
How long must we wait for more info on the non-nfa maxim 9mm?
This is determined by many factors. It all just depends on current projects (NNFA Maxim 9 being one of them) and what hurdles, if any, need to be navigated.
@@SilencerCo That is the most vague and evasive answer ever. Are you testifying in front of congress? We just want the non-NFA Maxim (Hopefully with some styling updates to make it less ugly. Hint, less is more.), please make it happen!
@John Williams What the hell are you talking about? Stupid questions deserve stupid answers but SilencerCo actually gave a solid reply to this one that sounds honest instead of blowing smoke up your ass. They don't know when it's going to be released. And even if they did are you dumb enough to think they would announce the release date on some random CZcams comment? lol - How are people this stupid?
Also.. what is a "Q"? Did you stroke out while typing?
@josh major Wow Josh, it's not very often that I run into an actual moron on the internet. Most people that act like jackasses are doing it just to be clever. You however, are actually a dumb person. I own 3 SiCo cans, 3 Rugged cans and 1 Dead Air Can with a 4th SiCo can pending. SilencerCo products are easily some of the best on the market. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just a butthurt fanboy of another company. You just look stupid when you make claims that are obviously wrong and anyone who knows anything about suppressors can smell that bullshit a mile away.
@@SilencerCo make it in 45 ACP too
Still waiting for that Non-NFA Maxim. I bought a standard Maxim 9, but it needs an unregulated brother.
When is non nfa maxim coming out?
This was a damn good video! My question is, I am looking at the B&T GHM9 and am not sure if I should do the compact version with just the threaded barrel or the standard version with the threaded and the three lug? Can you advise on which would be better? Thanks!
3 lug and threaded... it’s a no brainer
Wait...get the compact version with 3 lug and threaded.
I really don't see much benefit to the K-size PCCs. Sure, you get more stability, but you're getting generally a Glock 17 size barrel. Without full auto, I don't think Ks provide enough benefit. Might as well get more velocity.
Definitely gotta new sub outta me!
Happy to have you!
Blue tape on the MP3 mag. Hmmmm … yippee kuy yay, those are blanks, McClane!
You guys should make that coupler at 5:00!!!
Dude. Make that 3-lug 22 adapter!
Q makes the only non spring loaded piston 3 lug. Screws on and tapers so it is precision as well, and lighter. And rifle rated because no springs, no o rings
Thanks so much for these excellent and informative videos.
Would love a 3 lug adapter for the PPK in 22lr
I currently have your Octane 45HD with the new style low profile 3 lug adapter and love it. I use it all the time on my 300blk pistol (.45 low pro adapter with your 5/8x24 .45 muzzle mount). If the 3 lug geometry is the same, can I use your 9mm 3 lug muzzle device with my .45 adapter I installed in my can? I'm getting different answers from people on this. I'd like to be able to use it on my 9mm Scorpion without having to buy another adapter to install in my can.
mkivbb No, you can mount the 45 3 lug mount on a 9mm muzzle device, but there will be excessive wobble which increases the risk of a baffle or endcap strike. Also there will be a gap around the muzzle device due to the larger 45 bore in the mount which will make the can loud, and send a lot of gas back at you.
@@Turbo.M777 but if the outside geometry of both 3 lug muzzle devices are "supposed" to be the same, I'm not sure why it would matter. Also I'm not sure why @Silencerco won't respond and give me an official answer on here or from the various emails I've sent them about it :(
@@mkivbb The lug geometry is the same, the outside diameter of the straight cylinder portion is not. I'm the guy in the video. You can trust me on this :D You can test fit it on a 9mm muzzle device if you'd like. Wiggle it around by hand, and you will see why its not a good idea.
I’m looking to bring an SP5 when I move to CA next year. Any thoughts around making the trilug compliant since it is built on the barrel? Hate to say it but I’m thinking I may need to grind it off 😐
Why would you move to California??
I need one of those HK 3 Lug to 1/2x28 adaptors!
What a job, I want to work there .
I need that 1/2x28 3 lug adapter!
Write your congressmen!
Agreed!
@@SilencerCo Lol. I did not write my congressman but I did write your customer service.
@@NACAM42 That also works!
@@SilencerCo It's been a couple years now. Any word on that 1/2x28 3 lug?
My new cgs mod 9 suppressor appears to have problems with the piston spring...both ends have flaired out somewhat...its hard to assemble and the piston 'gears' do not engage.....so when I attach the suppressor, I can still rotate it by hand (not where you have to pull it out to make point of aim adjustments). Have you heard of this? Do springs wear out after ~300 rounds? is this a unique CGS problem? any advice greatly appreciated.
These dudes need a Netflix series.
I’ve heard mixed things but it was mentioned running 3-Lug on .300 Blackout, would it work for both subs and supers?
We do not recommend running supers with 3 Lug. It will handle a slow firing schedule but "slow" is subjective. You still run the risk of melting an O-ring or annealing the spring with 300 Blackout supers.
Do you guys offer or are you planning to add a 3 lug mount for the Osprey 45?
6:17 talking about the tool and screwing it on the barrel, do you recommend any kind of Lactate? and if not what kind of foot pound would you say?
Pretty handy 😂💯💯
Trying to decide between the 3 lug and the ASR mount for my omega 9k. I like 3 lug a lot
When in doubt go with both!
PLEASE INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTION RATE I NEED LIKE 3 OF THESE THEY ARE SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE FOREVER
You said 5/8 for 300 blackout. But then also say not good to use with centerfire. Is there any down fall to using it on the 300 blackout for hunting short range if you clock it the same every time and slow fire 1 or 2 shots only. One would think there would be almost no heat. I have it for the 9mm carbine and short barrels was thinking of using to for the 300. Just want QD when running in the woods.
Have you guys considered Inconel springs for your center-fire rifle suppressors? They would hold on a bit longer before annealing.
Generally, it's the O-Ring that gives out first.
Any Idea when that non-nfa model will come out?
I have been trying for years, been on 2 order lists for a maxim and have yet to get one, any idea when they are going to be made again?
Any updates on when the non Nfa maxim will come out?
So when a zombie out break happens and you need a silencer, who you going to call?
Hopefully yourself because you'll be the proud new owner of two dozen brand new silencers!
Would a lighter recoil spring help to cycle a handgun using 3 lug?
Is it normal for the suppressor to have a little play/ wobble when it’s mounted?
Really cool video and great Info, ps can I pl have a job, I feel in qualified as I've watched all the James bonds ha ha,
I machine these tri lugs. Very cool to be making a real world application.
I wanted the non NFA Maxim so bad.
Question for SilencerCo: Would a three-lug attachment be suitable for 5.7x28mm FN? Specifically a PS90 SBR?
Christopher Reed yes! I run one myself.
