0:05 The customer's insurance company paid to get a used engine installed. The clip was also filmed after draining water out of the engine for 45 seconds.
0:19 A $10 oil cap turned into a $800 job in the end for the customer. This an important reminder to look for the oil cap/bolt/nut when you drop it as it could always lead to a more expensive repair.
0:39 Well that was easy.
0:52 Improper alignment of the bell housing to the engine can cause serious damage to the engine as well as premature wear to the clutch and transmission.
1:08 An easy fix! If an error just comes up after you did something, look at what you did as that is most likely what caused the error.
1:20 The customer is lucky this happened at the shop and not driving on the road or highway!
1:35 Not sure how this happened but the shop installed new sub-frame bolts and checked the alignment.
1:45 No extra info.
1:59 Customer thought that's how the cabin air filter was supposed to be installed.
2:04 The technician said they are still waiting on parts to arrive to fix this customer's car who dismantled the gear shifter assembly and did more harm than good.
2:15 No extra info from the technician but not sure how the vehicle was partially in gear.
2:28 The mechanic said the customer did not install any fuses or relays in the circuit, so it was a disaster waiting to happen with the custom fan installation.
2:44 Glad that the technician made it to the shop without any issues!
2:54 No extra info.
3:03 From the sounds of it, the turtle was put in the centre console with the lid closed so the person could drive it to an animal shelter.

This channel is the best argument for including basic vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures as part of the test standards to get your driver's license.
No, because most people will just take their car to a shop so why learn that stuff?
It would be an unnecessary burden on most people who don't have any tools or space to work on their own car.
@@PeugeotRocketHe is not talking about teaching people how to do a tune up. He talking about basic maintenance like checking the oil level, how to add oil, checking the coolant level, how to add coolant, checking the transmission fluid, how to add transmission fluid and checking the brake fluid level and how to add fluid. These are all essential things that would save people time and expensive repairs. And it all can be easily done in a parking space. I do all that and more at my condos parking space. Well, their cars need to actually run for them to drive.
Sir, this is a car CZcams channel.
Ordinarily they shouldn't even exist.
Helping out the turtle made my day. It reminds me of our little buddy Beamer the kitten who himself got help.
Tortoise urine has a distinct odor that you do not want in your car’s interior. They also have very large bladders for their size.
Everybody loved Beamer that he even has his own t-shirt 😂
Reptile migration occurs around late spring in my area. Lots of turtles and such get stuck trying to cross roads so I try to help them.
Though it gets frustrating when I have to fight a snapping turtle in order to save it. Then, two days later, save the same snapping turtle because he wants to get back to where he started.
I also learned it is illegal to touch a bald eagle after saving one with a hurt wing from the side of the road. Fortunately no problems with law enforcement, and the people from the UF Veterinary School I took it to made sure to remove all the feathers from my trunk.

*Next time on JRI: Customer states, vehicle doesn't start unless I turn the key.* Technician: Yes, that's correct.
at 2:00 You know, if all cabin air filters were installed that way, the makers of them would be out of business- even after years of use, they'd still be like new.
2:22 Regarding the Jeep that was “partially in gear”, I have had that happen in my 1993 Mazda B2200 5MT and 2006 Mazdaspeed6 6MT when it is REALLY cold, like below -20C/-5F. The first time I experienced it, I started my truck on a very cold morning, shifted it into neutral and then released the clutch and the truck lurched forward and stalled. Same thing happened on my Speed6 as well. Solution was to row through the gears before releasing the clutch and then ease of the clutch very gently. I always changed the gear oil to high quality synthetic oil of the correct type and weight, but it still happened.
2:23 as someone who’s left a manual in gear while starting once, yes I’m sure it drove itself into that tree 😂
'Partially' in gear though?!?
@@chris4536 I guess they thought the shifter was in neutral, when there was nothign but play in the shifter mechanics, and the 1st gear was still engaged... they failed and refuse to admit to it.
And how did the driver fall out?
The problem is that you can't even start that vehicle if you won't press the clutch and the brake pedal.
So then taking it out of gear (supposedly) and releasing the clutch should just shake the car and stall it because the brake pedal is the one anyone with a little thought releases last. (after putting on the parking brake)
And "partially in gear" would just make a horrible sound...
@@nirfza lot of people will disable the clutch-pedal-to-start mechanism, so they can start the vehicle while standing outside, such as to 'warm it up' on a cold morning. Which would also explain the customer "falling out," as they were never properly seated in the first place, let alone depressing the clutch or brake pedal
I once had a robin wedge itself in the lower air dam on my wife’s Acadia. I bet I put close to 100miles on it before I realized it was stuck in there. The local Fire Dept was legitimately happy as hell to see me😂 They really didn’t believe me when I told them what happened but they had a blast making the new guys fish him outta there. I’d have done it myself but honestly I was scared of hurting the little guy or accidentally killing him getting him out and after 100miles being basically tied to the bumper face forward at highway speeds I figured he more than earned the right to live🤷🏼♂️
What is really frightening is that many of these "customers" are raising children...
Idiocracy at work. Movie was prophetic.
Wow, the first one, hydrolocked the engine. No words, but I also laughed a little bit with that.
The way these chains end up getting wrapped around car parts , or whats left of them , is becoming an art form cleverly secured to last the final mile , and the way they used a rock wedged in for extra tightness is pure genius or at least resourceful ..
To quote the LockPickingLawyer from his newest video: "It is hard for me to imagine a sentient being who is both this dumb and still breathing."
I've always felt like an idiot because I once forgot to put the new filter on after changing my oil. Fortunately no damage, but a big mess and dealing with the smell of burning oil for a few days.
These customers make me look like an absolute genius in comparison.
As someone who has stopped to help many critters from the road, including some that didn't want to be helped, I love the last clip.
You just did a quick flush, no biggie 😉
You know it’s a good day when JRI uploads
Not a mechanic, but my dad was a master mechanic for 40+ years, so I spent plenty of time helping him on projects. I am continually left in absolute awe with what some people will drive around with thinking everything is perfectly normal.
I have no issue with people not being able to do their own work, that's fine, but if you don't know what you're doing (be it maintenance or driving in general) you should just not do it.
Well, to be fair to the customer not everyone knows that manufactures like to hide their sensors behind the emblem. That is probably one of the only understandable mistakes I've seen on the channel.
At least the turtle is OK but still wander about some of these people
I love how the turtle was trying to climb back into the dash!
Knew the firefighters were gunna throw him in an ambulance, I empathize with Mr turtle, that's crazy spensive. Unless he had geico insurance, geckos always got a turtles back (um shell). 😎
I hate when you drop sh*t in the engine compartment and it doesn't come out the bottom.
This is why I stopped doing maintenance while a car was parked on grass. Even when it does fall through it's often impossible to find.
Had that on the weekend but on the inside. Pulling a blend door actuator, got a 1/4 ratchet and socket between the heater plenum and firewall when it slipped out of my fingers. Had to find the flex magnet to extract it.
When the customer accepts repairs and trusts the technician, it makes me want to salute woth a tear in my eye.
My other favorite story is about an Airbus A320 that was written up by pilots one day. They did the required 90 day CATIII autoland in order to test the system in perfect day conditions, and it landed very hard.
Pilots: "Autoland system lands very hard"
Maintenance corrective action write up: "Autoland not installed on this aircraft"...
Whoops~
Report "Something in forward landing gear not working."
Maintenance "Something in forward landing gear replaced."
I would actually be surprised that an A320 would not have that feature. (To my knowledge this function is standard for all A320s.)
@@nirfz I believe it was an option, and there is a considerable increase in maintenance costs to ensure that it works properly.
@@carlasghost656loooool. I remember that routine.
This actually happened many years ago in the company I work for. I'm an aircraft engineer. It was a 747. Pilot noted in the log book it was a very firm landing, well left of centreline. At that stage the auto land panel was only fitted in the flight deck, but the system was inoperative. It was labelled INOP so the pilots could see and a Notice To Crew was inserted into that same logbook for them to read.
He well and truly had his a$$ kicked for that one.

As long as you are going to a mechanic you trust and have used in the past, yes it works well.
Feisty little turtle. I kind of can see the reindeer nose ornament one being understandable, we don't really know where all of the sensors on some vehicles are and lets face it the VW symbol gives a lot of space to attach something like that. I guess we will soon see someone with a trunk tied down because the fake arm they attached to it screwed up the latch mechanism.
I've always found that using water in stead of buying engine oil always saved me money. 😅😂😮
Yes, all that gas one doesn't need since the vehicle is now a redneck planter.
But at least *you* put the water in the cooling system instead of the crankcase, right? ...Right?
Saves on gas too and provides exercise when you have to push the car.
Ok, the reindeer nose one kinda makes sense. Not like you'd know where those sensors were.
Then again, you might try to move it and eliminate it as a possibility.
Yeah, usually if you make a change to something (car or whatever), and something stops working, first step is to undo your change, then try to figure out what went wrong.

I started my job at my current airline at the end of 2006. For a while after I started, I did handyman work for a property investor in Fort Lauderdale. One day I got a call, some woman's air conditioner quit working.
I'm not an AC technician, but one thing I will tell you is that 90% of the time, when AC quits working, it is because the condensate drain is plugged with spooge. So I grabbed my shop vacuum, an extension cord, and a roll of duct tape and went over there. I turned on the AC in order to determine if the fan was burned out, and....It came on. Yes, it simply came on and started blowing cold. I looked at the evaporator and noticed no ice or condensate. Hmmm.
