#RuffordFord #Ford #Flood #Fail
Lol 3 blue BMW's in a row. This was a wreck fest. Before the last one was towed away a new one bravely wrecked itself. What a brilliance.
BMW are really bad in the floods. There air intake are below the bumper
Looks like the driver hit restart snd tried again
And they all looked good cars
Same thought!!!
:-)
Greetings from germany
I don’t understand why they want to risk their nice BMWs in water
Someone needs to explain to these BMW drivers that the germans stopped making submarines after WWII
They do, in india bmw driver can make it through over bonnet water.
@A T you know , i m not dumb read again what i have written. I have written about drivers.
uhm en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_206_submarine
How about the SUV's?
😆
This is it. I've truly hit peak boredom.
Henry Healy thumbs up and greatest comment ...top notch ...
There's something strangely hypnotic about having these things on in the background.
Me too. I cant stop watching these little disasters.
This is one of those situations where slower is much better.
But still mostly fatal.
Jeremy clarkson would argue otherwise 🤣
Like wanking with sandpaper.
@@whackablemole Ah thats where Ive been going wrong.
going in slow and then slowly building up your momentum is the proper way to pass a body of standing water anyway.. lol

"Hello AA? I'm in a blue BMW."
Which one?
"I'm on my way"
Why would you drive your car to a place where a duck is crossing the road not walking but swimming? 😂
I've been up to my neck in water in my Hilux. That's a factory feature though.
Englezi... vole vodu.
It's like out of a Roadrunner cartoon. Wile Coyote driving BMW these days.
10:30 Was that a bloody Baby Shark horn on that Transit?? What a time to be alive...
wow, thats gotta be one of the more expensive episodes of the Rufford Ford crossing
@valour 2814 it’s just show offs really. I get the feeling there’s a fair few people who’ve watched these vids and are driving through far too quick so that they can get featured in one of the vids...
BMW sucks. BMW is awful car with 0 reliability but cost much zzzzzzz
@@user-xi6ik1eu7m for sure.

Surprised a tow company doesn’t just park up there and wait. Would be like having a van at IKEA, always gunna have business lol.
Richford. Ironic really...
This just proves what most of us always knew about BMW drivers!
That they have more bills in there wallet then brain cells in there head
I'm a BMW driver and one of the minority that have brain with it as well (came up from lower end cars) been through loads of floods and fords in it and never had any issues....oh it's because I know how to drive through them properly unlike these idiots or use my common sense and turn back if it looks too deep
That they have to bear massive amounts of petty jealousy from people who can't even afford BMWs even though they're not even that expensive? You're right!
BMW driver here but yes, most of them are pretty dumb and cocky.
There is a reason why they are called "Bavarian Motor Rowdys". Just like the Raudi driver in the opposite direction. They are both the worst of the worst.
That red 5 series at 2:50 looked in such great condition only to be ruined by silliness of driving too fast through deep water.
it wasnt even fast. What a dumbfuck design by bmw. Can`t hold 20cm of water.
@@Gabson9 Only dumbfucks drive through water that deep.
It was a beaut... Shame.
@@jbuckley2546 Did it get hydralocked? As in destroyed?
I never thought I'd write this but the Kia survived where the BMW didn't.
if you listen carefully you can hear the con rods crying in pain.
@@ukjunglist26 Rods that connect the piston and the crankshaft. When water gets into the engine and the piston moves up, it can't compress it. So the connecting rod bends
@@ukjunglist26
Diesels are worst.
Petrol it might survive.
@@Robert-cu9bm Really any internal combustion engine would get fucked from sucking in more than a tiny amount of water. When water gets sucked in, it’s like drastically lowering the effective height of the head, to the point of severe interference. Suddenly your 10:1 or 20:1 (diesel) becomes like 5000:1 and bends shit.
Intercooler
@@willbill808
Not always, many factors determine the outcome, how much water the speed of the engine..etc.
It's more likely for a diesel as they run a much higher compression, have bigger flywheels.
The rotating mass in a diesel is far higher than a petrol, then combine that with the higher compression ration is the reason it's worse for a diesel to get water in the intake.
When it's lockdown and there's nothing good on TV: "Kids! Shall we go to the ford and watch people drown their cars?"
A tradition that's centuries old.
@@alastairward2774 yep, I was reading that their horses were drowning over there.
This is more entertaining than any movie in the last few years.
Funny thing is that if you drive slowly, you can do that in almost every car, without any damage. But these people seem to not know that by driving fast they're making a big wave in front of the car, which floods the air intake and goes straight to the engine. Typically, it needs then a full disassemble, cleaning and replacing the pistons, cranks and other parts. In many cases it's more expensive than the engine replacement or even a whole car.
My theory is, that most people don't even know anymore how combustion engines work.
When you realize how many number plates under this water

8:46 Lexus driver thinking, “Hm, if there’s a fellow filming this, I’d better take this a little more carefully.”
Funny how some all the cheaper cars seem to survive and the expensive ones break down
That's because so many cheaper cars have transverse engines with the air intake safer behind the engine and exhaust facing forward.
@Silverhoof this is a ford. it's meant to be driven through, but only if the water is low enough or your clearance high enough.
It all depends how low the Air Intake is positioned in the fender behind the frontwheels... better ontop of the enigne or the best is using a snorkel (air intake ontop car window)
What wrong with bmw..hmmm
In cheaper Cars is less Interieur wich can fail, and the engin ist more simple.
The little Chevy spark gets through yet multiple BMW’s and SUV’s can’t? Hilarious
The intake of the Spark is more in the engine bay while BMs and other cars can have it on the grill
So let me get my head around this.
There's a giant "Dipstick" showing water height at the bank but
"Dipsticks" in expensive cars still drive thru it like it's a puddle 🤔
Hydrolocking for Free Ladies & Gentz! 👍
when passing through a flood, don't be too fast, if it's too fast, the current generated is greater and can enter the engine
no sh1t
Hydrolocking for Free Ladies & Gentz! 👍
When water enters through the air filter and is sucked into the engine the things goes horribly wrong. Since the water cannot compress as much as the air, the piston going upwards is trynig to squeeze it but instead the result is bent piston rods and the engine is gone...
The water cannot be compressed at all.
Someone told me that if i entered deep waters, to not let off the gas until i was out. How true is that? The only 2 times I've had an issue with flooding, i made it out (didn't see the water until i was already in it). Normally, Id just pull over and wait.

One of your best videos yet pal, keep it up loving this
Have you thought about publishing a league table of which cars have the highest chances of failure to cross? I was well impressed the Lexus's made it, those hybrids have vented battery packs under the back seat. Electricity and water generally don't mix well 💥. 😂.
these hybrid batteries are over the frame, on the side you can access from the top (usually somewhere under the rear seats), so they're not in immediate danger once the car is half-tire deep in the water. plus wiring is insulated. Idk if toyota's engineers expected people would try crossing 60 cm of water, but they should have expected people to use their car in very heavy rain, so water running down the car and all over the bottom of the frame is taken into account :)
So many break downs, love it!
Graceful crossing by the Peugeot 406 until it drove over a piece of itself..🤭🤭
Did it actually come off their car or was it just submerged until they came through after one of the other idiots destroyed their car?
@@markwright3161 True... could of been... though it did rather look like flimsy French plastic from a distance..🤔🤫🤭

That recovery trucks business is booming 😂
The first guy looked like his world had ended in the carpark when he was told by the AA guy that he most likely needed a whole new engine and his insurance won't cover him as he chose to drive through the water.
Splendid! I'm little over a minute in & already 5 morons have wrecked their cars 😆 keep it up!
Edit: 9 wrecked cars in the video in total plus all the ones that had numberplates & bodywork peeled off by the water, I don't know whether to be impressed or hold my head in despair! 😆

A classic episode of unessesary watery expense, I loved it :)

Wow. Amazing how easily the Ford crossing stops some car models. Great video. We love it here.
Car models should be replaced by Muppets that have no clue how do drive through a river
Haha, the Unimog and the tractor on full send were pretty epic!
You'd think the 'fans' on the sideline would be a clue that something bad is going to happen. Probably a simple cheap blue tarp over the grill and you'd be sweet.
So many tools tonight!
Seen you earlier today but you went just as I got here LOL

I love how there is a similar car getting towed at the far side and the driver is like 'nah that won't happen to me!'
Yeah epic fails, love these vids.

We've really just watched this for 12 minutes. Aces.

The silver Volvo XC70 was a boss.
Ja, my favourite there I think. Other than the Unimog maybe... For which this ford is a puddle!
Water? What water?
The splash award goes to the tractor and the coolness award goes to the guy on the van 9:21
As an ex mechanic, hearing the death clatter of those very expensive engines makes me cringe !
Love the ones entering at correct speed and then accelerating
Great Unimog 8:08. Looks ex military. Heavy duty versions of those in right hand drive must be pretty rare.
That Freelander 2 was like, "I've seen bigger puddles left by my cat"
Local Breakdown companies must love this spot! 😂
Fun seeing the different strategies. Some people have obviously done this before.
Looks like this is the optimum depth for killing cars. Any deeper they are weary shallower they go way to fast . But this is just right to Lul them into a false sense of security and floor it
The speeds they go through is ridiculous
Exactly I don't know what they are thinking
The scrap man in the transit was good,I want that horn haha
Love the tune on the lorry!! 😂
Pretty soon there will be no more blue BMW's around that area. All drowned
BMW’s are the new Mercedes sprinter 🤣
Amongst the best compilations!
BMWs seem particularly vulnerable.
Some of them start off so well and you think oh he's got this. Then they floor it and oh dear 🤦🤣
Where is BMW putting the air intake these days, the sump?
What are dealers fitting number plates with?
Some of them were extremely lucky.
Wish some of the 4x4 drivers would come a cropper, far to cocky.
Indeed, some bmw have the intake behind the fog lights a bit too low and with breather holes at the bottom so if you accelerate hard it could suck water.
Just behind to either side of the grills. But yes. Anywhere from the grill and down. 🤦♂️
Can’t remember the last time I watched a video that gave me so much joy 😂
That's very sad, enjoying someone else's misery and pain, shame on you.

Amazingly... no Benz Sprinters were hurt in the making of this video.
