- This is probably my favorite time in Old Time Radio, and I couldn't whittle it down to one video. So this part will cover only 1950-1951 and Part 2 will cover 1952-1953.
You can listen to thousands of Old Time Radio programs provided by the Old Time Radio Researchers Group: archive.org/details/@otrrarch...
I was 11 in 1950. We lived in Minneapolis in those days didn't have a TV until 3 years later. I loved the radio programs! Many evenings and after lunch on Sundays I would go into my bedroom, close the door and listen to program after program. I just loved getting lost in those programs. Fond memories of the real thing.
I was 7 in 1950. We didn't have a TV till 1955, a used console with a small round screen. There was a switch to square off top and bottom with still round sides. An old Zenith. I was a fan of old radio and still am. It is great entertainment with no eye strain!
Old is indeed best! When I was 10 years old, my father and I drove past the Illinois home of Marion and Jim Jordan; AKA: Fibber McGee & Molly! My father explained to me who they were and all about their popular World War Two radio program. After returning home, I ordered their show and have been listening to the wonderful world of OTR ever since, I'm in my 60s now.
I agree with you. Just as the P-51 Mustang and the Spitfire represented the zenith of propeller planes, early '50s radio represented the height of radio production. Soon each would be replaced (by jets and television, respectively).
Great channel and I LOVE your BANNER photo! Wonderful classic radio. I feel like I am listening to "Prairie Home Companion." Many thanks for sharing! Liked and CONNECTED!
Thank-you for all of your wonderful uploads! I enjoy them so much
