Love the ending shot! That sheet was cut too short probably because your initial cut was not square so running it through the fence made the board our of square.

I'm in the middle of building my own version of a mitre saw station and the reason I doubled on the tops is to be able to recess a woodpecker track with stealth stops in it. I thought it have been a bit too thin if I had routed the large groove to accommodate it. By using 2 layers, I skipped the routing and simply installed strips in front and in back of the track that was resting on the first layer, if that all makes sense. Great job on your station.
Yep totally makes sense and I can see the necessity there with a recessed track. Agreed just having the two boards instead of routing a channel, much easier approach. Good luck in your build!

Ah gotcha, yea makes sense. I probably should consider making these tops more easily replaceable.
