"Yo, webb... i gotta go hard. Some of these dudes may never seen me play before.'
Imagine AI with today's size and spacing... unguardable.
He would give curry a good run
I agree, im probably taking him #3 after MJ and Kobe in the modern era if I have to start a game
And no handchecks
Explain why kyrie has better everything and he can't dominate but AI would? Go check Kyrie has far better 3pt% and fg% is basically the same. Kyrie is best handles ever and probably the best finisher.
@@vic7o2 best handles yes, if he was the best finisher he’d have a couple scoring titles or more
Paul pierce. “I’d just let him go by, I didn’t want to end up on a highlight”
MJ-“he might cross me over again but I’m gona get out there and try”.. that’s the difference
💯 and Jordan almost still blocked the shot. Incredible offense and defense.
Michael Jordan is in a whole different table by himrself.
I can't believe Sports Center actually thinks LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan
@@hmm6415 there's a video of Allen Iverson saying that he crossed him up but he still almost blocked his shot
@@billydakid71nah bro lebron lock down lil negas like kyrie, ja, prime drose he wasnt not get cooked like jordan got got bruh ya feel me
@@billydakid71 He's just paying respect, I almost blocking a shot is as effective as almost winning a game. 😂
Folks dont realize jordan was saying that about AI during his ROOKIE YEAR...let that sink in.
That crossover was big news back in the day. it would be as if today it went viral. Jordan was never humiliated in that fashion before. If you watch the video, you can hear Phil Jackson yelling at Jordan to get him and it was 1 vs 1. Very iconic moment.
Years later Iverson met Jordan and he said how he loved Jordan and How Jordan was his inspiration and Jordan was like: "If you loved me, you wouldnt have crossed me like that" 😅
To this day Jordan never forgave him for that
AI cooking everybody in the nba i swear 😂🔥
I had the privilege of seeing Iverson play a few times live. The time I remember the most was the 97-98 season. The Sixers were playing my Heat in the old Miami Arena. There are two reasons I remember that game so well.
1. I had the best seat I'd ever had for an NBA game. Right under the basket ( a corporate perk at the time). I was standing RIGHT next to all the players, including A.I. I was amazed that he and I were about the same height , about 6'1. But his ARMS looked like they were 6 inches longer than mine! I'd never seen a guy my height with arms that long.
2. He was on the opposite end of a Dan Majerle baseline miss. A.I. grabbed the rebound and in about 5 dribbles ( LIGHTENING FAST) , he was at the other end of the court making a layup , leaving EVERYBODY in the dust.
A.I. was one of the most jaw dropping players I have ever seen.
I'm so glad you got to experience that
Remember when AI destroyed the Western All Star Team single handily.
Need to bring back the AND 1
It's not a story from the video, this is a personal one. I was in 7th grade in Philly when Stackhouse got drafted, and so in my middle school lunch room my art club was doing a mural of him. A year later we drafted AI and we never finished the Stack mural because everyone wanted to do the AI one more. I love what AI met to my childhood. As a Kid in Philly we would see him everywhere and he always had time.
ALLEN IVERSON is the King of Crossover. With his Wicked Crossover, Athleticism, Assorted Ways to Score, Mental Toughness, and Basketball IQ, HE would be UNSTOPPABLE in NBA'S CURRENT ERA 🎯
Exactly
That man was a walking highlight reel. A.I. is the reason i started watching the NBA.
Dude was a one of a kind DYNAMO
A.I. CROSSOVER ALOT ANKLES!!!
😂😂😂 ICE UP SON!
🤣🤣🤣 ice up!!!
If you’ve spent any amount of time watching the NBA even just from the 90’s til now, you’d realize how insanely physical the NBA was from 90-07, compared to 05-24. Malice at the palace is pure proof 😂.
Larry Bird literally sent a guy flying out of bounds by intentionally bumping him with his ass. Old games are just more fun to watch. No butts about it ( :
I remember Alonzo Mourning getting clotheslined by Charles Oakley. Charles got a technical but he still played the rest of the game. If that was today Charles would be suspended for at least 3 games.
1:24 my fave AI crossover you hardly see it anymore in his highlight reels
Iverson is just that one of a kind athlete...I wish he would have been in the NFL and NBA... He is really just that guy.
he always saying in interviews that deep down he always knew he was a football player first. but his mom didnt like football and wanted him to play basketball, so thats what he did. with that speed and his agility, no doubt that guy woulda been great. AI had them barry sanders jukes in high school
What makes Iverson scary in today's league is that for one, he would have shooters on his team all the way down to the center. Teams can't really double him because nowadays every one not ball dominant has to have a 3 ball. So u can't go 2-3 zone and double A.I on top of that like his era lol. That's going to make his efficiency go all the way up, just that alone he dropping 40 a game. Most of his shots was fading while doubled or going in the paint after getting past a double trying to layup over a shaq lol
No help in the paint and u gotta try to stop him 1v1 sheeshhhhhh
And all that extra space for his pull up bc of floor spacing. And he’s playing healthy bc you can’t bang him
Perfect sense.
@@bradenwright2586 facts
After his legendary career was over.
All he wanted was to be on somebody's coaching staff And not one of those NBA Teams would give him that opportunity.
My favorite player ever. Used to go to Sixer games, and the crowd loved him. Haven't been to one since he retired.
That Stockton crossover, where he made him jump is probably my favorite
He was so nasty, unbelievably off the hook 💯🎯👍🏽
40+ easy
Listen with no handcheck now, iverson would murder this league
same apllies with him , he cant handcheck , which makes him a horrible target defensively . and a pain to his own team , love him tho he one of the biggest reasons i love basketball.
and i know he was stealing like a mf yea thats defensive but only a small part of it .. plus today game are much more mixed with shooters he cant just guard the baddest player on the court .
@@Kratos69zzzz but lucky for him, nobody plays defense in today's game which makes him not have to either lol
@@Kratos69zzzz my guy AI was great a stealing the ball without hand checking besides he was one of the smallest players in the league at that time him hand checking wasn’t a factor
@@Kratos69zzzz lol cute that you think anybody plays defense in the modern nba. Bet you cant name two superstars on the all defense teams. cuz there arent any.
and the refs wont call his carries.
iverson would have been a hall of fame football player
Possible for sure I think he was a little under sized but maybe a slot receiver in the NFL!!! Maybe the best ever!! I don’t see it at QB though!!
AI was an amazing intelligent and gutsy fearless man to ever play the game of baseball!!
IVERSON my all time favorite basketball player 💪🏼 thank you AI
To me Iverson is the best pound for pound and inch for inch player in the history of the game.
Lived in Hampton Virginia in the early 90s. Seeing him play football one word WOW. The Bethel high school had two basketball players Bubba Chuck and Tony Rutland . State Champions football and basketball. Tony played with Tim Duncan at Wake Forest
He played against my high school, Hampton High and murdered us most of the time. I remember watching him play us the last time and Bethel was beating us by 20 or something like that. He got an open lane and dunked on us as the clock ticked out. Everyone was so mad they cleared the bleachers wanting to fight him. He always was on attack mode. Bubbachuck represented Hampton, VA to the world.
Great video as always YG, keep it up man
I've never seen that MJ interview. Wow, that's props. He hardly gave props to other players because mentally still playing them he had to get an edge, keep that hunger.
But that's a massive comment from him on AI.
AI was unbelievable. FULL STOP!
He’s getting 30 avg no matter what but if they allowing him to shoot like they did in Philadelphia he’s getting 45. No one is guarding Iverson in open court
That water is to deep
He'd put up Wilt numbers in today's era.
No he wouldn’t
@orangejuice1386 Might not be averaging 50, but he'd def be in the 40s tho, wouldn't be too far off.
@@NickyP1 depends on the team. If his playing with other superstars no. But by himself maybe
@orangejuice1386 Naw, if he was with other superstars he wouldn't have to do it, but easily could if he wanted based off of what we've witnessed the man do with no help. Better players around him= more space to operate, easier looks, and less doubles/triples. That'd be the easiest 40 he could get in that scenario. Would just be a matter of if he wanted to or not.
@@NickyP1 he probably wouldn’t cause you have to play more team basketball. Everyone needs to get in a rhythm. He can’t win a ring by averaging 40 like that. Can he? yes but a lot of other players could too.
I know one guy from my old neighborhood that had handles with the rock here in Virginia but not like that though, A.I. is what we would call raw, meaning the purists of pure ability, just raw….smh. Like a street baller turned pro. The quickness and the skill level is ridiculous. You’ll have that type of edge coming from Va, despite what people think it is culture here. In my opinion Mr Iverson was ahead of his time actually he was just that good. You don’t see that everyday so inspiring to watch. God bless him.
You didn't even mention the fact that he was the first pick in the greatest draft class of all time, the class of 1996.
Allen Iverson the crossover
Absolutely!
I read in the paper that his mom credited his success to listen to positive motivational tapes from Amway. I always wondered if that was a true statement.
Ai in my top 5
Iverson transcended basketball. He became an Icon for the Culture!
That was a very nice video I’m fan of Allan Iverson
AI.. shout out VA.. shout out newport news and hampton..
Even MJ was like “I’m good”.
One of THE greatest guards ever.
The way he moves. It's got style. Iconic.
I always forget Webber came and played a few seasons with us in Philly!? I love watching these vids though, I really do... Hearing a man's peers, and particularly his competitors, speak about him with such reverance, says far more than any sports reporters ever could. AI caught a lot of flack for the whole "Practice" debacle, admittedly even I was disappointed in his behavior and the ensuing interview (I feel that stardom comes with a certain level of responsibility to the younger fans), but he still showed up on game night and played his absolute heart out. What he did for the Sixers, and Philly sports as a whole, was nothing short of Legendary and it was an honor to watch the man play. Thx for the vid.
40 plus
It's amazing how Va and DC guys were doing this wide cross.. earlier 90's
I remember the first time I ever saw this man play as a kid at Georgetown. I was like that kid is something else and on top of it all, the attitude and swagger coupled with his game… As a Jordan fanatic, I was like this is the prettiest player I have ever seen in terms of his ability. He was the smallest guy on the court but he CLEARLY owned the biggest presence by far and everything he did was dynamic.
I'm so thankful to have watched him play live many times. The Iverson Snow connection was incredible in person.
Sad how Shaw gives him all his props, but as an owner of Reebok now, they sell Iverson's shoes, but they now call it The Question instead of The Answer in order to not pay him his percentage???!?!???
NOT COOL!!!
My favorite player to watch of all time
AI used to dominate All Star Games
Iverson was a All Word talent
Except for Steph, there is not a single guard in todays NBA I would take over Allen the Answer Iverson.
Steph needs 5-10 screens and shooters around him the space the court to score. AI was killin 1 on 5 w no offensive help on the regular. Steph couldn't do that 🤷🏾♂️
The diffrence between them is that ai plays defence steph is one of the worst defenders guards in history of the game....ai will average 40 points in stephs era and steph will get fouled out in a lot of games on 2000s era because every guard was posting and is so weak....the only thing steph had better is the 3 point shoot but ai don't need it he is like a shark when he sees something wrong in the defence he kill you steph is the best player of the best team if the team isn't good steph is not either too
Stwph will never reach iverson level
I wasn't a fan of A.I because of the off the Court issues.but on the court this brother is underrated.he top 5 guard.he a way better version of klyre
Whatever he wants
PRACTICE
I’m an OG and I’ve watched A.I since he first stepped foot in George Town … them battles between him and Ray Allen were classic…. Google A.I verse Marcus Camby thats the one play that told me he was gonna be a problem
Everybody says Jordan is the goat, others say LeBron. I Am A Die Hard 76ers Fan. As Far As I Am Concerned, Dr. J & Allen Iverson Are 1A & 1B In My Book As The Greatest To Lace Them Up On The Basketball Court.
I feel the exact same way; I totally agree...
My favorite player of all time, pound for pound, AI is the GOAT IMO.
THE GOAT 🐐, AI… YALL HEAR THESE PLAYERS TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS(AND THEY WON THE RINGS 🤷🏾♂️), AI WAS A DIFFERENT BREED💯. SALUTE MY GOAT
4 time scoring champion and a SEVEN TIME Minutes Per Game leader at his size in the NBA. That's how tough he was. He would slaughter in the league today with a lighter workload and that conditioning.
Iverson was one of the best athletes ever in the NBA, but players of today would feast.
God broke the mold after hin...he teuly a goat
Him and vince carter going at it in the playoffs was an amazing series.
That series they went back and forth it was legendary
@@theoneaboveall6768 crazy how Leonard took the same shot that Vince Carter did, only it went in at game 7 against the same team.im a Toronto fan even though we won with Leonard, imo Vince and ai was a better series.
@@shaned7158 not too many series compare to AI and Vince historically. It was a crazy battle between the best of both teams dropping 40-50 pieces on each other. Heart breaking but crazy series
@theoneaboveall6768 vince had a high of 52 points, and I think AI HAD 55 .crazy basketball, exciting all the way through.i could be a little off with the high score
@@shaned7158 yup that’s how I remember
His quickness would kill them
AI was also tough as nails. He would be an animal in today’s NBA.
I remember being in Philly watching Iverson. It was electric. We would be jumping up and down holding each other. Seriously because of what he was able to do I could not place anybody above him.
In today’s NBA he’d have chips and would have free reign to shoot 3s, imagine the step back-3s after his opponent’s ankle break.
Still the best move was on ty lue when he crossed him hit the shot and then stepped over him. A soldier
"It's practice", when you genuinely don't understand why other people don't get it. It's like "huh" are we living on the same planet? I don't get why you don't get it. I mean he's a professional how much practice do people think he needs that missing one would be made into such a big deal.
His best friend had died the day before. Practice was the last thing on his mind
AI would be a monster in any era. When it comes to some people, no matter where you dropped them, they'd dominate the same way.
Iverson exploited being shorter and faster than everyone else. There are smaller players today in the NBA compared to when he played, so there'd be more players who'd be able to keep up with him better. Of course the game isn't as physical as it was then either, so Iverson wouldn't be so banged up from game to game either. I think he'd simply do what he did regardless of who was in front of him.
amen
alll of the points. that many
Me at 5’5”: THAT’S SMALL!?
Iverson was the fastest human being I've ever seen on a court.
AI is one of the best ever. He changed the game with his entire being. The tattoos, the braids, the gangster shit,,,,, and he had the best unintentionally great skateboarding shoes ever made, the AI 2s
44 points a game......37 on a bad night......drop 50 at least 10 times throughout the season on about 10 different teams and he would probably play anywhere between 75 to all 82 games a year
I always play with my heart cause that all I got 😢😢
Imagine a 6ft guard that attacked the paint relentlessly, knowing that guys like David Robinson, Hakeem Olojuwan, Patrick Ewing, and Shaquille O'Neil were waiting for him at the rim. He gave the Lakers 60 when Shaq was in his prime. Constant aggression and effort, every second of every game, and it was on both sides of the ball. He has all of the Sixers records for steals too.
Iverson says, "You are telling me they can't touch me while I drive, step back, shake n bake....Well I may just average 50 a game then..." lol
My second favorite player of all time behind MJ
Tenacious defender is pushing it 😂
the best there ever was!
I aint gon hold u, if rebok dropped all tha retro Iverson's like the retro J's I'm buying all of em
why not do a video on how much Muggsy Bouges would do in today's nba ... he's heck of a player / legend / Elite given the era he normally played in
Michael jordan literally had to slow himself down by putting bulk muscle on to resist the downright violent agression of the pistons. He would kill todays pansified game.
the sport used to be much more rough, he would clean up now when you are not allowed to basically assault your opponents
The great A.I
Biggest talent ever
No one today has Iverson's quickness. He got to the rim in a day where teams packed the paint. Today, he'd rain threes or be dunking on guys.
GOAT ! IF Ai WAS 6 '6" NO ONE COULD BEAT HIM ! NO ONE !
Allen Iverson would be Allen Iverson in any era of basketball.
5:07 I don't even know what was going on but that face bruh that shit hurt
he's like SGA but twice as good
9:01 Look at that first step, that's what a lion looks like that is ready to kill its prey.
🤔Why Did You Guys Do Tony Parker Like That?!!…AI Put Parker On Skates!!!…
you absolutely left out that defenses switch on the pick n roll everytime now, iverson would be a beast on offense but he would be a huge liability on defense, way more than he already was in his day.
Talkin' about practice...
Don’t forget AI @ Georgetown University under legendary coach Thompson ❤❤❤
Shaq right,,,who gonna guard A.I. & shaq
The original Iverson Questions are STILL in 2024 my favorite basketball shoe of ALL TIME, Followed by D Wade's (Wish I could afford 1 more pair of D Wades as his shoes were great too). Have a blessed day
As many as he wanted.
A 6’6 A.I. and a thinner in shape dedicated Shaq are the 2 players I would love to see. Shaq in his early years crossed Jordan when they were practicing. Shaq had so much more potential had he stayed in shape and dedicated, he would hands down be known as the GOAT and Jordan and Kobe would be a far away 2nd and 3rd.
