    Thanks. I usually thin down the sides and put a large C shaped hinge then let er eat. I never knew the the top of the bar would pull you in that direction when boring because I never had much experience with the bore cut. Thanks. Awesome information

      Many do that, but leaving a V shaped hinge, then chase the back cut as you're saying. Look it up, it's called a Coos Bay cut.

    You are good at what you do. You are very good at communicating what your doing. You are no nonsense, straight to the point. If you played music, showed you driving in your truck to the tree, while drinking your favorite beverage, I would have moved along long ago. I really appreciate you getting to the meat of the matter. I already feel that you have saved me personal injury by watching you! Thank you, and please don't change anything!

    Brilliant with the little details and explanations!
    I have watched dozens of chainsaw instructional videos and they all say the same things. You have put in a number of extra details that no one else has and that went a long way in clarifying the technique. For example, you explanation of how to do the bore cut, when you mention that the top edge will pull the saw, therefore the top of the sword should be directed away from the hinge. Good to know that not only what to do but also why you do it. 👌

    Even though it’s a simulation sticking you’re head over the back side of the tree like that can get you killed. Bore or no bore. Pull the saw back a bit and walk around to check. A bore is meant to reduce the risk of chairing, but it can still pop the left over strap anytime if it’s compromised.

    • @brettblack7049
      @brettblack7049 Před rokem +1

      Great point, I thought it looked odd, but without the stem being there I didn't realize why.
      If you bore from the side you need the hinge to hold most on, many times I just run the side in to the width I want the hinge, then use the sights to figure out what the other side will be set at, just site to the same spot you used for the gunning cut.
      Have a great weekend.

    I love doing a bore-through but I think it is important to mention this is a relatively advanced cut and you need to have very good control and awareness of your saw. While there are many advantages to this technique, they will be easily outweighed if you don't have the skills to pull it off.

    What are your thoughts on leaners and hinge cut? Theories differs between leaving more on the pull side to compensate for making the tree go where you aim. The other is leaving more on the pressure side (leaning side).
    This is without using a wedge to compensate.
    I've tried this a few times but not enough. And i find leaving more on the pressure side actually works. This theory means that the wood that is left will help hold the tree up (like a wedge i suppose) hence it won't strain the pull side.
    Would be cool with a demonstration from a professional 😊

      Obviously...But I'm sure some retard will attempt to recreate this exact example as shown on a whole tree, and not just a stump.
      And if they did it on a leaner, without doing a face cut, it's almost guranteed to create a Barberchair.
