Giant revolt advanced and giant defy advanced pro on the gravel. Defy was bone stock on 28c tires at around 70psi. This bike is so versatile. Homerun giant
I do, right now! :-) And I subscribe your channel! It`s rather seldom that someone has the Defy AND the Revolt. Perhaps you make more clips in the future. Have a nice time and enjoy your rides! Greetings from Europe
I've got a 2019 Defy as well. I've used it on dirt roads many times with similar results and thought it might handle some true gravel riding. Was looking to see if anyone had thrown some actual gravel tires on it to see how it does. Ever tested it?!
This bike did have cycle cross tires on it for a short time. Let's say it can handle light gravel duty, but the rock chips hurt to look at. If you're going to do enough gravel get the revolt. Pick up a second set of wheels with street tires and you'll be set for anything
Thanks for the footage! Which bike (Defy or Revolt) would you recommend for mainly road riding with only occasional unsealed/gravel? Any changes you'd make to either, to better suit that purpose? Cheers!
For me it would be the revolt. In fact I own a tcr, revolt and just sold my defy because I hardly used it anymore. Can't say anything bad about the defy but the revolt will do pavement better than the defy does gravel. The defy is a great road bike and obviously can handle gravel but it's not made for it. There's no paint protection under it and you won't get the same smooth ride.
I too am torn between defy and revolt. Wanted to get the revolt for more versatility but I heard that the revolt is a little sluggish on tarmac. Is it true?
Not true at all. I actually took a few strava koms on my revolt. The revolt is very fast. If I had to choose only one bike its my revolt. I currently own a revolt, Defy and new tcr and a yukon fat bike
Not lighter if your talking revolt 0. I have both bijes and revolt is the same weight. If you do a lot if gravel get the revolt. Its better at taking the bumps. Just get a decent set of tires. I went maxxis ramblers for what I do. They are also lighter than the giant tires. But if you plan on a good amount of pavement too keep them on. They work very well. If you are close to the new jersey area I can arrange a text ride on both bikes.
@@blkbelttony Thanks! I'm up in Canada, but appreciate the offer! Revolt 0...I'll look it up! How much does it weigh? I think 18lbs? Thanks for all the awesome info and video once again!
@@blkbelttony Thanks Tony! I went out with a buddy on his LiteSpeed Road Bike (awesome technology from good ol' USA...only 15lbs). He did gravel rail trails with no issue and I was struggling along with my 22lb Norco Threshold. I read the Defy Advanced is only 17 or 18lbs! Thanks again for helping my future purchase :)
Ok, the defy with the Reynolds ar58 and ar62 wheels, 32c tires, carbon bottle cages, computer mount, cadex carbon saddle and giant uniclip tail light comes in at 19.4lbs. The revolt advanced 0 with stock saddle, composite bottle cages, tail light , computer mount and maxxis rambler tires comes in at 20.5lbs. Both are heavier than I thought. But to be honest they don't feel it.
Hey Tony, cool clip! I just had different questions. But all of them are already answered. Perhaps a new question - because you have the experience: Can you estimate if the Giant Defy (Top Model) much fuster as the Giant Revolt (Top Model), and is it a big difference? and is the seat-position between this bikes very similar? Greetings from Germany! Oliver
Greetings Oliver. I own a defy and revolt both in the medium/large. I can say the defy feels longer. The stem is longer, but the frame itself is longer too. As far as faster. I can sprint my revolt faster than my defy. Even on 40c tires compared to 32c on defy. The revolt feels lighter and quicker. The defy is more like a land missile. It feels heavier but once it's moving it keeps building speed and holds it better. I feel the defy frame flexes a little bit more on the sprint as well.
I don't take the defy on gravel because I have the revolt, but it will be ok to a point. Check out my other videos to see how the defy looks with 32c tires
Thanks for video but more particularly your responses to questions. Really helped me. Cheers from England 👍
Thank you for watching

Thank you. Once the weather breaks I'll do a side by side video of both bikes. Thank you for subscribing

Great video thanks! I'm thinking of a Revolt or Defy but the Defy is lighter and judging by this video, can do gravel just as well! Thanks!

Cool Tony, very interessting! Had you with the original 32mm Giant-wheels on Gravel already some punctures or are the stable?

Hi what is the max tire size on the defy?
I believe giant says 35c. You might fit wider but run the risk of bringing debris up and scratching the paint
