I've got that exact Revolt and I agree with everything you said about it. I swapped out the gravel tyres for 32mm Conti GP 5000TR and that turns it into a very fast and comfortable road bike. I was going to use it as a winter bike but its so good I think I'll be using it all year round.

Hi, thanks for the comparison. What are the maximum tyre widths you can comfortably run on each bike....
I am looking to get back into biking and now living in Wales with awful lanes and a 2 mile gravel drive, I was going down the Defy route due to availability, but it is unclear as to what the maximum width tyre model years can accomodate. I am buying used as I am unsure whether my old injury will return and thus prevent me riding again. I looked at a 2017 Defy and I reckon you're lucky to get 30mm.

Sorry I've only just spotted this. The Revolt is like 50mm or something. Basically wide MTB tyres. I'm running 44mm WTB Raddlers and there's still loads of room even on the short wheelbase setting. The Defy is much more restrictive around the bottom bracket for the back wheel. 35mm is doable but tight. I used it as a gravel bike for a while on Panaracer Gravel King SK 35 and it was tight.

I have a 2024 Defy Advanced 1. The tire clearance is 38mm now. I am also looking at either buying gravel tires for the Defy or at the Revolt. What made you get the Revolt?

The 35mm tyre clearance is very tight and while it's fine for light gravel and dry riding, for anything rougher or muddier I need wider tyres with lugs. The 35mm gravel king SKs just fit with the wheels trued in the centre. But it means the frame gets a lot of scrapes from debris. That was basically it. I wanted something with lots of tyre clearance.

Hi. It's a 2021 advanced 2 in small. Sorry didn't see this comment.

Hey strange question, but how do you find the sizing? I'm between 5 foot 7, 8, found that sitting on both bikes (Revolt), small felt too small and medium had too long a reach despite the small stem

I find the small absolutely perfect for me. I'm the same - between 5'7 and 5'8 and I couldn't be any more comfortable. I've got longer legs compared to torso (31" inseam) so I always prefer a shorter reach. I'm surprised there's that much difference between a small and medium for them to feel so different. Perhaps they were set up different?

I’ve got both these bikes as well and they do ride pretty similar. The Defy is more agile and a little faster but unless you keep swapping between the two regularly you soon forget that subtle difference if riding just the Revolt. It’s an excellent all rounder and with a semi slick tyre it’s hardly any slower than the Defy. That said I’ve often burned past proper road bikes on my Revolt and then gone off road into the woods so it does make for an excellent bike and it’s really good fun being able to mix it up.

As just one bike which one do you prefer sir?

Each is best at their own job but all round I probably prefer the Revolt because it's so comfortable and can do anything. The Revolt handling is so much better too. It has pure precision when steering around a corner.

@@DarrenMansell thank you sir this would give me a clear cut thought of what i will decide upon eventually, leaning towards revolt it is then.
