    Poke holes in your oyster lid seal and or container if it is plastic with knife to allow the stinky juices to get into water and attract the crabs. I found that the incoming tide from low to high is the best time to go crabbing from docks.

    • @cdro670
      @cdro670  Před 2 lety +1

      I had a few holes poked but I think I should of made more/larger holes, oddly I was looking at the oyster container and thought I didn't but 100% Sure I did(not sure why I wouldn't of), hard to tell on video but the nasty oyster juice dripped on my hands which is why I remember poking holes with a knife.

    Don't put water on crabs ! They use up the oxygen really fast. They can live out of water for 6 - 8 hours. Maybe an hour in water. Water drowns them without a aerator. They need oxygen!

      @cdro670  Před 2 lety +2

      and if you catching nothing, just eat the bait! back-up plan ! haha I use to use squid that I catch as crab bait and man ill tell you they slurp it up like no problem, gone within minutes which was a problem since it took us sometimes couple hours to catch the squid(bait) and would sometimes run out before we can even get one legal size crab. lol "USE WHAT THEY ALREADY NATURALLY EAT IN THE OCEAN"(remember to read regulations to make sure everything your doing is legal)

      @@cdro670 I'm a commercial diver and did a few months of work out of Deep Cove in North Vancouver. The public dock there was where I left for work every day in a boat, and where I returned at the end of the day. The dock there is also very popular with recreational crabbers. All the work I was doing there was scuba so sometimes at the end of a day's work I'd leave my drysuit on and have a tank with me and go over the side when we tied up at the dock.
      I gotta tell ya, there is no easier and faster way to limit out on crab than under a dock where there's a lot of pots and bait in the water. The crab were practically forming lines in a race to get to the pots first. Every direction you looked, dungeness crab. Just scoop 'em up and away you go. You're done in less than 5 minutes. Then all you gotta deal with are the dirty looks when you get to the surface with a full goody bag.
      Do you think that was a douchy thing for me to do? I'm undecided. It was legal though and I didn't take any crab that were close to anyone's pots.
