Petricite isnt physically painful unless ingested. Petricite absorbs magic, making their powers severely weakened. Lux is powerful enough to resist it slightly but she hides her magic use in Demacia so she isnt burned at the stake Salem witch style. Galio/Lux's story breaks it down pretty well

To be honest, one of the aspects of MMO nowadays that i really dislike is Raids. I like smart bosses where you + 3 other people max have to colaborate together to defeat. Raids lacks real strategy and is normally a big mess & dps test. To put an example of a RIOT game, the Odyssey PVE event, where Kayn was the boss. That was challenging and cool.
you just described destiny raids. i also think this would work better. destiny has some of my favorite raids in any mmo
So you prefer mechanic testing bosses like in FFXIV as opposed to meat walls with a few dangerous mechanics like some WoW bosses? (from what I've heard)
Well raids usually puts players against caracters that a far stronger then the player is so it makes sense that u would need alot of caracters. Unlike most dungeon runs where u do face powerful caracters but nothing on the lvl of the raids once. There are exceptions ofc but for the most part that is for story plot resons.

@28:00 So one good alternative to a raid would be Exploration Zones, something FF14 has done twice now.
The 1st was Eureka in Stormblood, and then Bozja in Shadowbringers. They are basically gigantic areas with their own dedicated plot and mini events happening constantly, and that would be perfect for places in LoR especially as it pertains to the Void.
Man I am beyond stoked for this, I do hope we get to choose Ionia as a home nation.

Love how that one guy in chat Lonnin in specific said "Stop saying raid bosses" while necrit only said raid bosses specifically for the watcher,morderkaiser,and targons peak specifically and of that he just said "potentional raid bosses"
Necrit is over stating the power of Petricite. It absorbs and can somewhat nullify magic, but the buildings and such are mainly magic absorbant, not draining. Now the prisons for mages, that is painful, because they do all they can to nullify and drain mages of magic. Lux survives in Demacia, because she was born into the Crowngaurd family. A very powerful, and notable family that is incharge of the group that guards the king of Demacia. So with power, comes influence. They know when mage seekers are coming, and have kept Lux hidden away. Even Garen, her brother didnt know she was a Mage, untill they were young adults, and because she is his sister, he can't and won't turn her in. But its tough for garen, because he was raised to hate, and despise Mages. His whole duty is to protect king and country. But in the end his love for his sister says his hand, and his mouth.
In the Video "Warriors" they are in a nothern outpost that leads to caves that run through the mountain. She with her magic summons Galio, a petricite Gargolye that sits outside Demacia to protect them. Those men she are fighting for are the Crownsguard. They are loyal to her and Garen's Family. Most likely honorbound to them, and the king. And she just saved their lives by summoning Galio to protect them. I highly down any of them with honor would ever spill the beans on Lux after that. Because they would probably have to Face Garen if they did. No one wants that. And even worst than Garen would be their Aunt, the head of the family. You DO NOT cross her.
By painful experience he means going in Demacia as a mage probably won't be easy

To Lonnin in chat: Xerath didn't try to save Azir. After Azir took in Xerath as a friend who was a slave, Azir had plans to abolish the slave system and free all slaves but because he didn't tell Xerath this until the very last moment of his coming ascension, Xerath betrayed Azir having come too far to back down now, took the power that was meant to make Azir an ascended god warrior, Azir was consumed by the sun's fire, and since the power wasn't meant for Xerath, it destroyed his body and he became a being of arcane energy. The power of the ascention ritual exploded outwards, devastating Shurima and laying waste to the city and the people.
Some if not lots of details left out, go search up the lore for a more thorough understanding.

That scene where Lux used magic was nowhere near any of there citys. I dont recall its exact location but it was more on the line of an outpost or a guardpost guarding the path from the north into Demacian lands through a mountain pass. It was pretty mutch as far away from a city as u could get.
27:55 You're saying that as if he suggested that everything should be a raid 🤔. Runeterra is so massive and the lore is so complex that there could easily be 10-15 massive raids and they wouldn't overshadow anything. There's just so much to explore, so many areas to visit that turning even Mount Targon (and Icathia) into raids basically wouldn't make a difference for Shurima 🧐. (I specified for Shurima because they're both on the Shuriman continent.)

Btw, one big point that necrit didn't touch is the amount of small characters already well defined in the lore, there's a bunch of elite soldiers from Demacia, important nobles from Piltover, Freljordian war mothers etc.. I would love to met a lot of them in quests, some like Cithria lot cards, but a lot of them only appeared in small stories and I would love to see more of their personalities

9:43 as dar as I know, petricite effects are not that well defined, magic can be used inside the city of demacia even with it being all petricite, but Galio is able to protect the army just by existing (even without being animated). But in general, it does not hurt just by being near it (there's an elixir, and that does hurt, a lot if consumed by a mage), also, it's still unknown to demacians, but petricite absorbs and contain the magic, being possible to use it later, Syllas does it. Lastly, not all demacia is made of petricite, only the capital (there's petricite here and there throughout the kingdom, specially on big cities, but not to the same extent, and on the music video (I think it's awaken) they are in a fort near freljord.
The reason why necrit said it’s painful is because one way they try to take away magic is by forcing them to swallow petricite and it’s described as if part of their soul is being ripped from their heart
I think 1 big thing they can really rely on to draw people in with the whole mmo thing is all of the hype regarding what they can do with classes, Riot has already shown that they're good at designing pretty unique gameplay loops(when they care enough to do it) in all of their games and with the existence of LoL people are going to have pretty high expectations from them, for example I'm willing to bet if they can manage a way for there to be a kinkou class or something it'll just be great.
it is a double edged sword though, Riot isn't going to be able to get away with *just* putting in some generic low effort fantasy classes and people are going to have hight expectations.

@9:03 since your chat is trolling you, here I'll tel you why lux is able to hide her powers, simply because she is a crownguard, a noble and great family line in which serves the emperor (ah you know that common troupe noble family that is so badass that they are just under some emperor), in fact her brother already knows lux has magic but because she is a crownguard she is able to hide behind the shadow of her family
and again the dumb chat you have about "it hurts when you drink it" its about the how mageseekers handles or specifically "tortures" people with magic so that magic will be removes or what necrit said the body will reject the magic of the person by making such persons drink a petricite drink
It also helps that her Aunt is married to the Lord Mageseeker, so wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some corruption going on.

Just for some insight the video where lux used her magic was not in demacia it was at a fort in the border between demacia & freljord. Being in the city as a magie dose hurt however it's not a crippling pain and for a mage that has lived there since birth they grow used to it, pain increased the closer to your body it is so living there can be draining cause it sucks the magic out of you touching it makes it worse and if you where to eat it well that causes real agony and can go as far as to kill you. Since it sucks the magic out of you and magic is something that's inherently a part of you from birth it's a part of your being if you're a mage.

it would be fantastic if the players can change the storyline based on what they do, and maybe add different quests per empir, example you choose to start in noxus and you will get quests related to them while if you go to demacia you get their quests. really hyped for this new mmorpg sadly it will take at least 5 years to make.
I've never been one for raids. I've done them and enjoy some but I'm more of a pvp person. I think turning all the world's wonders into raids seems boring and uncreative. I hope riot makes a new fresh take on mmos and doesn't just convert everything into a raid. I'd love to run around mount targon collecting quests and seeing vendors.

I do hope there is some uniqueness to the game compared to other mmos, hopefully someone so unique no other mmo has it.
But then again thats not what riot does, they dont really innovate that much, they take an already existing idea and attempt to perfect it which has served them well and they are really good at it so either for me is fine.
8:40 Lux can use magic because of status. Lux are noble, rich, and powerful family. They have special organizations in Damacia that include lux and Sona. Damacian government have Illuminators. If you are not member of organization you will be hunted by mage seekers include peasant kids that have magical abilities.
9:32 The moment you're thinking of is the final moments of the Warriors 2020 cinematic. The city they're in is on the border of the Freljord, very far from Demacia. The only Petricite there is Galio, Sylas' shackles, and the Demacian soldiers weapons and armor. That's it.

I just want to clarify, for anyone who is interested. At some point in the video, Necrit implies that the Vastaya are born from humans and animals, which just isn't true, at least not completely. The Vastaya are descendants of Humans and a race known as the Vastayashai'rai, which among many things, are, or rather were, humans. In one of the oldest events on the Runeterra timeline, The War of the Sky Titans / The War of the First Lands / The Titan War, some humans willingly took in the magic of the spirit realm, becoming more animal-like as well as extremely powerful mages and warriors. They successfully won the war and continued to live with their former race. This time period is almost completely forgotten about, and the only things that remain from that conflict are the weapons, and possibly bodies, of the titans, which can be seen in the newly reviled card "Mistfall."
The Vastayashai'rai were also notably shapeshifters, like Neeko. In fact, Neeko's tribe of Vastaya is one of, if not the, closest related to the Vastayashai'rai. So if you want to know what the Vastayashai'rai looked like, think something along the lines of Neeko.
Also for mages in Demacia, being near petricite doesn't hurt, but it is exhausting. I believe that the Mage Seekers do have some kind of elixir made with petricite that does hurt mages when ingested.
