Taric is a demacian sentanced to climb the mountain because he didn't take his job as a general seriously and left his group to die to chase a butterfly. He was supposed to be executed but his friend garen made it so he has to climb the mountain instead. But he succesfully reached the peak and became the aspect of the guardian

What’s more, this type of punishment is actually just an exile, since both the prisoners and the people in Demacia just expects them to not do it and just live somewhere else. But Taric geniunely feels sorrow for his dereliction of duty that he chose to climb the mountain regardless.
The reason why we would raid Lissandra's fortress, even though she is protecting our reality, is that we actually don't know what she is doing. As Necrit mentioned in the video, she kills anyone who might remember the Watchers' coming because they would also remember her betrayal. So no one actually knows that she is protecting us from the Watchers because noone even knows the watchers exist (other than maybe Bel'Veth and some other void related champions/beings). All we know is that she is kidnapping the Iceborn and keeping them locked up and that she is corrupting/twisting beings into her servants (like the frozen thralls). The only people who know the truth are her followers, but they are all very brutal and don't share the truth with the rest of the world. So to the rest of the world she appears to be a villain.

Agree on your take on raids. If it's something you repeat often then it becomes stale and meaningless eventually. That's bad for the best parts of the stories. Get some side story raids. But hey it's supposed to be a more casual game that gives you free time to do other things (if you want to, or you can run raids every day) and play other games so chances are raids occupying the best stories aren't that high.
I mean its an mmo how else would you fight them??? Like if you dont like then play an rpg... They simply cant just be world bosses they have to much lore to just spawn every so often for you to fight.
@@sleepyheartss Because raiding usually takes the most resources for a much lower portion of the playerbase, and usually ends up taking precedent on how loot gets controlled in the game for the majority of players. People like me don;t want to raid anymore after doing it for 15-20 years elsewhere, not do we want the game's raiding controlling the rest o the game like it has been in WoW.
I dont want all of mount targon to become a raid but I would be fine with the very tip of it being a raid

My guess is, that the Ascention of Mount Targon will be a mix of Raid/Dungeon and Hub Areas.
Potentially a hot take but I'd like for it to be an optional solo dungeon experience. You could have it were after a set amount of time or progress through one zone, the area changes as you get closer and closer to the end, but it also gets harder and harder to make it there.

"Why does everything have to be a raid?" said a random comment in chat and... I mean, I may be biased because dungeons/raids are what I enjoy but isn't that like the goal of mmo's? Grab yourself a party of heroes, make them work together to exploit each of their strengths and cover their weakness and give them cool bosses balanced around the idea of being taken on as a group.
I get that some people prefer RP or other things but I thought we could all agree that was pretty much the highest you could take any mmo's battle system.

Yes it's the end game for the battle system. Mmos are more than their battle system. Story's probably the biggest lure for people (Helloooo Arcane). If you cover the story in massive raids that can get exhausting and that wouldn't be fun (for most people). Remember that this is supposed to be more a casual game. Most people aren't raid sweaties. I like raiding sometimes. Having a raid behind every corner isn't a good idea but we'll see what they decide to do. Everything's speculation and Necrit for sure would like the game to be just wow 2.0 which is my and many other people's nightmare.
Right, but for most of these supposed Raids, they would be much better suited as just...dungeons, or areas. The Climbing of Mount Targon in particular would just be a fantastic and extremely hostile Zone and endgame gateway where reaching the top is a massive boost in stats.
Mordekaiser would be more cool as a World Boss.
The battle with the watcher as it breaks free...yeah, that's already set up to be a cool Raid.
It's more about the fact that, Raids are one expression of a system. Something you can't farm over and over again is more meaningful. I played WoW (For the first few expansions) and the story of Arthas had more emotional impact than anything else, and the first time I did the Raid, it floored me. Then I did it again. And again. And again. And that diminished both the wonder and the story.
@@sarrormiki3363 Story cannot possibly be the biggest lure for people. MMOs are still GAMES first and foremost. If they wanted to get into a story there are so many other better mediums for that, books, movies, single player games, ect. Why would they choose an MMO to be their main way of interacting with a story. The point of an MMO is to have a massive world to interact with a HUGE number of people focusing on an in game goal. Other wise there would be no point in making the game multiplayer to begin with.

Hey grapp I saw some papaya's not knowing Atreus' lore (pantheon) and confusing you, lemme clarify: Atreus was a man that climbed Targon and was chosen worthy by the Arbiter, but unworthy by the celestial Aspect of war, Pantheon, who dominated his body instead of lending him his powers like the rest of the aspects. He later, fought Aatrox, lost and died and so the aspect of war was as necrit says "wiped from the stars" however Atreus, the man, lived and now can tap into the remnants of that dead celestial power that once controlled him. (Btw I don't know if it got clarified later in the vid I am at the 20:00 minute mark.)

Most end game in MMOs are raids because raid is just a general term we use for large scale fight. FFXIV's end game is also raids but their raids are completely different to WoW's just like BnS is different.
About how Pantheon is still alive; The Aspect of War was infused inside Atreus, the human we call Pantheon now, and tried to stop Aatrox.
But ultimately he failed to do so, and Aatrox stabbed Atreus, the phsycal body Aspect of War is using, through the chest and somehow(I don't know this part) killed the Aspect of War.
So after the battle, and I quote by Pantheon :
"The God died, the man lives."
In the Azir and Xerath lore, there also another point of view that Necrit forgot to mention, In Xerath perpesctive, in the day of the ascension, and the same for the queen getting a new son, people also tried to kill Azir to don't let him became the emperor, so he made this to save him too. trying to sacrifice himself to it, but we don't know exactly, because both have different perspectives of it, but after all those years, Xerath literally became crazy and mad, just wanting vengeance, and forgot about all his beliefs or any things...
Both of them just misunderstood everything and just.... fucked everything up...

Well, Necrit isn't speaking about the initial release here. It's more about possible raids in general. But yes, you're right, the initial release needs something simpler. I would say pretty much none of the raids listed here will fit for the initial release, except for Renata, if PnZ will be in there from the start. *Maybe* Mordekaiser as well, and even that only because he's in Noxus. In terms of scale, he doesn't fit too.
To Pikachu_da_OAB in chat of the video 24:40 : The chalicar was the weapon of the leader of the ascended called Setaka, after Setaka was ripped apart by the voidborn, the chalicar was locked away until it got in the hands of the aspect of twilight Myisha (who was before Zoe) and decided to deal with the darkin themselves (explained in the "Twilight of the Gods" story). It explained that an ascended named Ta'anari got instructed by the aspect of twlight to use the chalicar where a column of white fire from the sky stabbed the darkin after deflecting off of the chalicar, devouring the magic that had made them, sealing them in the weapon. The aspect of twilight then gave it to the Shuriman weapon smiths to seal the remaining darkin. The chalicar is actually the key to wielding the celestial power to seal all the darkin. And it may be the only weapon that can stop the darkins such as Aatrox.

I just don't understand people sometimes. Do people actually think, that Targon is just 1 mountain and there would be place only for a raid? Targon is a huge area, that can be a zone but slso support multiple instances.
He mentioned Targon as a zone, but in that zone the MOUNTAIN would be a raid. We cant just let the mountain sit in the world and you can climb it whenever you want that would be dumb. At least in a raid it is HARDER content that can only be done every so often. So they are not talking about the whole place they are merely talking about the Ascencion of the mountian. Thats very easy to understand

tbh i really agree with what u said about targon. i like raids sure, but if i couldnt just choose my side of the lunari/solari and do some quests for them i would be sad, also getting specific armor depending on whichone you choose(maybe same stats with different skins so you dont have to minmax it) and just looking around the area would be cool af.

Also! Cool fact about Tyari, she's trans! The whole Tyari story told by the cards is a representation of transitioning. That's why the aspect of the traveler is feminine and uses she/her pronouns. You can tell by checking the cards descriptions and listening to the voicelines!

41:00 well to be honest there are 3 ways a person in runeterra experience the afterlife, either they accept their death move on to the afterlife by being shot by kindred's arrow or you get eaten by kindred's wolf. The other way would be Mordekaiser takes your soul from the afterlife to build his world in the death realm where you will never be at peace. So yeah I think afterlifes in runeterra are not so great.
Necrit is missing out another possible world ending threat of Runeterra.
And that is the Rune stones which are essentially like Infinity stones from MCU. They are currently being kept by Ryze except for the last one which Nunu has.
They are literally OP stones that hold extreme power that can end life if used by a wrong person. Which is why Ryze is keeping it safe.

They were honestly driving me nuts, every time i looked at chat to see others opinions they'd just complain over the slightest thing. Clearly everything in the video wouldn't become a raid but damn just have a bit of an imagination and think that WHAT IF it was one. And then they said something about Necrit not playing any MMOs when he's been playing WoW for years and has a few different Alts he's leveling
my solution was to just cover that part of the screen. downside is i can't see some of the funny or actually helpful responses in chat. but on the plus side, at least i don't get to see Yang sunny being an annoying killjoy
Some people just take everything at face value. It's literally just speculations and it's not like the dev only listen to him lmao
TLDR Atreus became more of a Vessel for Pantheon (an Aspect of War) than he became Aspect (Like Zoe and Talon are). So when Aatrox stabbed Atreus he somehow killed just Aspect of War and not Atreus himself. Now Atreus goes by name Pantheon just because. He somehow still has Aspect like Powers but he is not original Aspect of War himself. Oh yea and hates all the other Aspects and Darkins

That's actually one of the (many) reasons my favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy 11. It did have instanced content, but it was used sparingly with the bulk of the game being in the open world - a world that was pretty much out to kill you at every turn lol.
Don't get that same feeling from 14 at all, but then considering it caters to casuals it's no surprise.
I do sincerely hope Runeterra ends up having a healthy mix of old school MMO design i.e. horizontal progression and an emphasis on teamwork, and not so much the total disrespect of player's time lol.

Basically:
Atreus (phanteon's name) was a weak warrior that never quits, he got his ass handed to him by basically everyonr BUT he would aleays stand up and be ready to fight.
He along one of his friends, was sent to climb targon's peak, while in the journey his friend dies, while Atreus tries to call the aspects for help, feeling that his own weakness was the reason his friend died, he gets up again and reaches the peak of targon in order to get the aspect blessing and not allow this to happen again.
When he reaches the peak, he is possesed by the aspect of war, who deems Atreous too weak, so he takes control over him rather than sharing his power.
Some time passes and the aspect of war (Represented by the old pantheon) starts fighting Aatrox, then the old Pantheon gets stabbed in the chest (where the scar of the new Pantheon is) and the Aspect of war dies.
Atreus, being the giga chad he is, refuses to stand down and die, so after a while he gets up, regaining the control over his body, feeling betrayed by the gods, and having a deep despice of darkins.
Even tho the aspect of war is dead, the mortal flesh of Atreus still holds his power and lo and behold! You get the gigachad panth.
In simpler terms a LOR player can understand:
You play a 1 1 then instead of attatching a yummi to it, you use capture and capture the 1 1 with the yummi.
You attack face but they kill your yummy, so the captured 1 1 escapes, but now he is pantheon and hates the blocker and yummi.

The reason why were gonna raid Lissandra is probably because she's hunting down the iceborns to keep the watchers frozen. And Braum is an iceborn so I don't want Lissandra to kill Braum one day.
100% agree with mount targon, at most the peak is the raid, or small sections and caves. Mount targon could be an entirely different looking region from the rest.
6:45 That's how Taric became an aspect, he abandoned his post as a soldier and that caused a lot of problems, so he was exiled to Targon, and unliike most of the prisoners sent there, he wanted to pay for his mistakes, so he climbed and was able to get to the top where he became the protector

There was a MMO with a boss (actually 4) that did give u a buff and if u get 20 stacks you died , so u have to rotate to one of the other bosses rotating completely the other 4 party's since it was almost perfectly timed , was pretty cool
I think the reason why we should raid lissandra's fortress and the watchers peacefully sleeping is that lissandra didn't have enough iceborn or there's no other iceborn that lissandra had to kill to gave their dreams to the watcher and soon the watchers will wake up to continue to destroy reality just before they do and that time the raid will start to begin.

Atreus (Pantheon) climbed Mount Targon with his friend and rival Pylas in order to save his people with the power of the Aspects, but they underestimated how arduous the climb would be, and Pylas breathed his last as he finally reached the summit. There the warrior Aspect judged that Atreus should have died and Pylas was the one who deserved his power. Then the Aspect took Atreus' body and there Pantheon was born. So he went in search of destroying all Darkin, not far from there he found Aatrox. They fought, Aatrox pierced the Aspect's chest and won. But the moment the Aspect died, Atreus' willpower was so great that at that moment he awoke and regained control of his body again. Aatrox saw the deplorable state of Atreus and left him there to die, but he did not die and a while later he went after Aatrox to protect his people and defeated him using the weapons of the Warrior's Aspect, at that moment a new Pantheon was born, which is what we know.

Tyari becoming the Traveler is a weird case. Usually aspects choose to imbue a mortal who climbed the peak with a bit of their power. Like Leona, Diana and Taric. But Tyari seems to have become the Traveler, the actual celestial aspect. No idea whats going on there.
Dont think we are going to fight the watchers in the MMO. Or at least I would hope not. Runeterra has so many worldending threats already, and the Watchers should be 5000 miles above any characters paygrade. Even defeating one watcher in a raid would lessen the horror i associate with them.

I agree about my Targon not being a raid. It would be so much better meeting the people there and doing quest there. I'd love to also have it as a challenge to try and climb the mountain instead of a raid

They can do something different with mount Targon like after you ascend and become worthy now you have access to the celestial realm as a zone but that’ll probably not work since making a zone available only after completing a raid would be weird

I think Mount Targon should be like Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High from FFXIV. The lower parts can be done as a small group but half way through you have to do it alone. It makes more sense like that since we only ever hear about one person making it to the peak and ascending.
I don't think it would be possible to Ascend in the game anyway, Necrit Idea is to have the climb as a raid with another goal in mind (like ask for Aurelion's help) anyway I don't like this that much either, even though I agree that climb Targon in the game would be very cool

What if when you try to climb Mount Taron for the first time EVERYTHING attacks you and you need to fight some bosses but when you go through the Mountain again after getting to the top and maybe getting a buff for becoming an Aspect or something like that the hole mountain becomes a new place to explore while still being able to fight the bosses of the first raid, then you can go fight against the Solary, the Loonary...
And at some point you could maybe go fight something from the celestial realm

If a raid is what i think it is. I dislike them a lot. Is like a bunch of people hitting a rock with a stick. I honestly would prefer the mount Targon to be a place where you can go and start climbing it alone, or with a group up to 5-6 friends. To find out where are you able to rise. Like an "impossible" side quest.

Well, LoL isn't fkin real life now, is it? It's fantasy. I remember Riot said (or at least the writers of Arcane said) that they want the whole 'judging people by their skin color & the gender you're attracted to' to not matter in Runeterra. So having a woman become a ruler through succession does not matter to Runeterrans either. This is not Earth.
Everyone keeps saying not everything has to be a raid, but if it is an MMO dungeons and raids are kinda required, and I don’t think he’s saying these all have to be raids but rather a few raid options to pick from. There are hundreds of stories and areas to explore, and 7 of those hundreds being raids is ok, considering you don’t want raids to be something you burn yourself out on but you also you want the most key story moments to be replayable and memorable.
A lot of you are under the assumption Necrit is saying Targon as a whole would be a raid. Firstly, you need to understand that the MOUTAIN and Targon itself are not the same thing. The MOUNTAIN is a location in Targon. Necrit also mentioned Targon as a playable zone in the very first video. So like, no, he's not saying the entire place should be a raid. Idk how yall got that confused. But the Ascension of Mount Targon HAS to be a raid (or a dungeon) it is a brutal experience and should never be something thats just open world and easy to do. That's dumb and ruins the entire lore of the story. People dont want to do raids I get it. But they should not make the ascension "easy" just because people dont want to do hardcore content.
It literally IS hardcore content in the actual lore lmfao. And shouldnt be something you can just do by taking a mount there, even IF they make the mobs super strong, there are too many raid boss level beings STOPPING you from reaching the peak and they cant just spawn everytime some enters the zone or theyd literally never die and the gameplay would just be clunky and stupid.
So yeah. Its going to be a raid. Sorry not sorry.

Targon could be a huge zone, and very hard to get to the peak, but when you get there, you can talk to the Arbiter, who decides to test you. The test could be "inside your mind" in a dream where enemies attack you in waves, endless. And when you die there, the Arbiter say you are not ready to be an aspect yet.
As much as I would like to be able to become an aspect, this is not possible in a mmo game.
The test should be impossible, but it wouldn't be futile, this could have a rank between all the players to see wich one survived the most time or killed most enemies, and the best ones could be rewarded somehow, from time to time. (or just rewards for doing it even without rank)
I think that way we could have a great zone, and the repetitive aspect would be just for the test, that could be some late game thing for players to optimize trying to get the highest record there.
They could give Morderkaiser a Taken King treatment in which we kill his physical body and then kill his soul in the afterlife

I think necrit just uses raid as an umbrella term for anything that could have bosses lol, at least he's presenting us with aspects of teh hypothetical game where some super powerful entities would be envolved, later on riot will decide what will be a world boss, what will be a raid and what will be an instance, people need to take this with a grain of salt, it's not like necrit is dictating what will actually happen, u can choose what to hope for and to expect from the game, but necrit's just giving information for other people to process it however they want

Honestly, I doubt Glasc will be a raid. She will most likely be an event. The entire zone of PnZ will be corrupted with Glasc's mind controlling mist, with random generic NPCs being having gone berserk, and you go on a quest line with Caitlyn and Vi to figure out what is happening and eventually find your way to Renata to fight her and imprison her because obviously you can't kill a league champion.
On you can’t kill a lol champion, as far as I remember as necrit said. Didn’t azir die? Was he resurrected, did he survive? How is he in league?

Should not have raids or be much less raid activity. Then raiding is going to be the only way to get higher and will fail. Just like World of Warcraft has for itself but this is the riot mmorpg. I am sure it either will work or not by how it is made for. Riot MMORPG seems like a failure with every week passing. People are only going to raid and leave everything else as being useless. PvP is not worth the time in WoW but this is Riot mmorpg. I like to see more of what will happen to the players. Like connection issues from mass login or flooded channels or reported players that are being problematic. I like to watch and see. It also being a fee or free. I like to know their ridiculousness to be ongoing for a laugh.
I don't like league champions as a bosses it gonna suck kill you favorite character in game
I have a feeling that they won’t be bosses you “kill”. Maybe fiddlesticks roams runeterra, and a “raid” could be theoretically getting him to leave a region.
Sad to hear Necrit's videos are passed to the devs 😅 he isn't a game dev and his good ideas are few and far between. I'm sure everything the actual devs do is a hundred times better.

I think Necrit videos offers from a lore standpoint. Pretty much every plotlines he talks about here can be a nice raid if done properly.
What I agree with you is that devs should not take his ideas as they are. Necrit is not a game designer, not a dev, not a storyteller. So for the implementations themselves I think they can pull off some things more interestings.
Necrit ideas follow a more traditional MMO structure and do not challenge any preexisting concepts. In this video some raids lack any kind of motives (Why going against the darkins only to kill Xolaani ? why mounting Mount Targon ?)
Those are not big issues but as his videos have a lot of attention I fear that devs might take those ideas as they are
