When it comes to Classes. Most of them could be specializations. Like you start off with magic student --> mage / druid --> Dark mage / Holy Mage / Hemomancer etc
I like that. Start with the generalized/similarly overlapping skills and then branch of into region specific skills. Makes it so you aren't tied into a region from the get go.
That was my idea
You start off with your basic level 20-60 classes like warrior, ranged, mage and worshipper. Then each region will have different methods of using the class and teaching you differently.
Next late game levels 60-100 you can learn the higher level adaptations E.g. Mage - bloodmage- dark mage - warlock etc.
I would love to see shapeshifters, shadow ninjas and assassins creed like gameplay with talon in noxus
@@JD-vq7ln exactly, that would be perfect. Even if your origin is Demacia or Freljord, you can still travel to Ionia to learn the Wuju technique, or tu Shurima for arcane magic/ sandshifter... Or some quests with the Uvicaat which opens up some shapeshift skills in your tree. All of these with some sense obviously, a non-mage cannot learn magic techniques etc.
@@kairo8155 Can you go more in depth I kinda get the gist of what you are saying
@@DeepwokenDoesntExist basically what ff XIV has with a little bit of difference, you have to level base classes in that game, then travel to a city to compete the quest line for an advanced class.
so to become a ninja you have to be a lvl30 rogue or something(and to become a rogue you have to level 10 and compete its quest line.) what keeps it from getting frustrating is that you can change classes at anytime you want by just changing equipment.
Grapplr: wait sylas is a demacian? I thought he was from noxus
Me= *litterally feels physical pain *
Truuuuuuuuuue
I've seen Necrit's video like 3 times, 2 of those times being other reactions, but I'm gonna watch yours too bro cuz I like ur face
I appreciate that
I don't know if you know this Grap, but this guy, Necrit, is in the Ruined King game as an NPC
My man is such a lore nerd that he became part of the lore 🤣
Love him 😭
Easter egg btw but maybe riot will put him in the novel?
@@markdaniel3084 no, like riot games made an NPC named Necrit 🤣
@@awesomecow7264 necritos of camavor
@@mantraki yes 👍
Playing against each other is not what most people looks for when want to "play together"
But that doesn't make it not playing with each other. It is still a social experience.
@@GrappLrIRL that's totaly true, but sounds like a logic/rethoric explenation more like a peoples choice of playing games or intereacting with each other. I mean I love to pvp against my friends but when they come an ask to play with them a game they usually ask for a party-like experience.
man, I cannot handle the fact that I hear "Racist" ever single time he says races
saaame
Factions would be great if they aren't 100% divided. The game could not be faction based in the traditional way, but have pvp zones or quests based on factions. You explore the world freely, but when there's a battle between Demacia and Noxus, each one fights for it's side. Guilds could be faction based, to create more engaging competition, and to keep players from joining the winning side, let players be locked on their faction, being only able to change to guilds on the same faction.
Also, there could be side pvp events with free choice of side. You are a noxian and you friend Demacian, but on the Piltover vs Zaun event, you can both fight together, choosing to help one side or another.
Also, some compensation for joining the weak side is always a good idea
You can't be Elnukller but you can be Goatler
Necrit got the lore of the Vastaya wrong, he referenced the old Vastaya lore. In the new lore the ancestors of the Vastaya, the Vastayashai'rei, were already humanoid beings that then mated with humans to create the Vastaya.
"Humans mates with magical animals" vastayashay'rei=magical animals
@@boldisordorin9010 They're not magical animals, though, they're shapeshifting spirits.
@@boldisordorin9010 This was the old lore. Now the Vastayashai'rei were already a hybrid race. This was revealed in Master Yi's story with Doran, where the humanoid spirits reveal themselves to be Vastayashai'rei.
@@ArkLazarusMaximus i know, neeko is vastayashai'rei. I'm just playing devil's advocate
@@boldisordorin9010 neeko isn’t vastayasha’rei she is a bit of a downgrade from the og vastayasha’rei but close enough to be confused with them
No one prepares you for the day your healer bot turns you down to go play Fortnite with the boys. By the time the MMO comes out hopefully I can be the grandpa raising a 3rd Gen heal bot LUL.
I really do hope there is an expansive class, sub-class, and race system. 40 is a little much but I’m sick of these mmo’s with three classes and three subs. The only mmo I’ve liked was Skyrim because of the depth in character creation and customization… Never played wow because let’s be honest, it looks shitty lol
skyrim is not an mmo but I agree it has the best way to tackle classes, freeing you to build your own
GrappLr you should try streaming skyrim
There could be origin skills (based on the class) a Demacian warrior have some special defensive buff that, a noxian has some brutal attack, but a Demacian rogue may have something related to the scouts and a noxian rogue would have something for assassination, a Ionian Magic could have some crowd control
One of the main things I liked about Skyrim was that: if you trained with the assassins long enough eventually you got the title of assassin, mage, etc. being able to get your skills or main stats from which region you spend the most time doing missions. I loved that mechanic.
0:55 thank you GrapLr to point this out, I thought I was the only person hearing this and is in insane, Now I'm just only insane!
Lol me too
5:00 Riot has done a lot of events and always the factions are one sided by a slide. So, yeah, a faction based MMO can be dangerous.
Wouldnt the solution be to just give the side with less people a bonus the xp and other stuff for playing? Scaling with just how much of a disparity there is between the two sides? I'm not much of an mmo player but that sounds not to hard to fix.
didn't know you live in brazil man, been a fan for a while of your videos, good to know
41:25 - Then your son says he wants to dps and you end up being forced into support.
Vladimir is the 5th oldest sibling of the king of camavor, the king's son is viego so viego is also vlad's nephew. They sold vladimir to the darkin so that the darkin will leave them alone and they didn't really care about vladimir. The darkin were playing with him and decided to give him power for fun. There probably is a story on this on the universe page idk
I'm very confused as to what they could have ever possibly wanted Vladimir for...
edit: also the game has playable racists if they have demacians, so even if you hear racist you wouldn't be wrong.
I think I commented this earlier either on this vid or the previous one but I'd love it If they implemented a base class into advanced class thing and the transition needed a quest unlock.
also easy class changes, it's not exactly lore friendly but I think it would really make it more fun.
Most of necrit classes could simply be small specializations. Let's say, when you start as a generic mage, level 25 you can choose your specialization, some could be generic (fire mage, ice mage) but some could have quests as prerequisites, you do some quest in demacia and choose to help Syllas, and you can choose a specialization that steals magic with petricite, you do some quest related to Vladimir or the gray legion and unlock blood mage. Would be even cooler(although a bit not lore friendly) if you could have more than one. Let's on level to you choose your second specialization, and you can maybe become a full blood mage or take the petricite option to be a blood mage using petricite weapons.
The main classes could be Warrior(tank, duelist or barbarian would depend of origin and specialization) mage, rogue(in demacia they are more rangers and in noxus assassin) marksman(hunters in freljord, snipers on Piltover) and priest (freljordians shamans, bilgewater nagacaburus priests) so only 5 classes but a crazy number of subclasses, that could be simple to keep things easier to balance and develop. Make the subclasses give a passive and a couple of choices of really interesting skills instead of a lot of small ones, and they could be bases on some champion skills from lol, not equal of course, but a blood mage could have something like Vlad Q or W to choose from, a nagacaboros priest summon tentacles, that work kinda like illaoi one's, Demacian duelist could use riposte like Fiora. A lot of fun stuff
i like the amount of classes he mention. Remember LoL start with 17 champion and now has over 140 and counting still, by Grapplr logic they should have stopped long ago, but they haven't and i dont think they still stop when it comes to MMO classes either. I'm sure they will keep releasing class after class that it will become the most diverse MMO ever, you wont have players picking the same saturated class. Raids wud be more fun because each wud bring something unique to the fight without the same redundant setup.
Are you seriously comparing mmo classes with league champions? A class will need to have far more depth then a champion to be interesting to play
Here we goooo!!!
At 25:00 i think he meant classes like archer or mage, etc. like ashe being a obvious archer and lux an obvious mage too, but maybe the plant champ, zayah i think, is kind of a summoner mage hybrid, particular classes like that probably will be filter out for more general classes and maybe along the game you can get closer to it with items and skills and stuff
I'll tell you EXACTLY how Riot should do classes.
You have a set of basic classes - Warrior, Ranger, Mage, etc. - but then each have specializations you select depending on your region of origin.
That way they establish a baseline template they can use for more general balancing, while making tweaks to the different spec. Trees as needed. This also lets them add a tonne of classes without having to do them all from scratch each time.
So for example a Mage in Noxus would probably specialize in Hemomancy, but I Ionia it might be more of a druid-style emphasizing nature magic (or possibly Barriers but that'd likely be a Cleric thing)
Good idea
Only part is I disagree I think for each region and the basic classes the region has multiple classes like the hemomancers and black rose illusionists
im thinking we'll have a few basic skills then have region specific skills, or we can learn them by applying to a school like wuju, kinku or shadow assassin. then if an expansion happened we can change our region or apply to a new school
If they made a Server split battle
Ionia and Noxus are the only broken and unified regions
The comparison with CSGO isn't correct. There are two big differences between an MMO and a session shooter.
1. In CSGO, PvP is the only aspect of the game that matters. It's not true for an MMO. Yes, you technically "play with" players from an opposite faction when you're PvPing with them, but that's it, and that's only a fraction of what an MMO has to offer. You can't quest with members of the other faction, can't go to Dungeons with them, can't form Guilds, can't go to Raids, sometimes you can't even trade with them.
2. In CSGO, you aren't locked behind a specific side. You can play against some guy in one game and then on the same side with him in another. In faction-based MMO, you don't have that variance. You can only fight against the members of the other faction. In CSGO, other players are just that, other players. In a faction-based MMO, they are strictly your enemies.
Factions *do* split community in an MMO. That's a fact, and you have to account for that when developing a faction-based MMO. And usually, it's just better to not do it at all.
Yeah you can’t say that one aspect of the game covers everything when the other 80% doesn’t let you play with who you want to play with unless you get a new account
The guy is just giving info on every class, he is telling you all the classes that are garaunteed
33:49 Idk if you knew, but Vladimir is Viego's uncle, and yeah, I'd love a book about Vladimir describing his early life and the despair of being a prisoner to the darkins.
Suggestion on WARRIORS across different regions STAT-wise considering there's a separate TANK class :
DEMACIA - high DEF and highest MAGIC DEF
NOXUS - highest ATT and higher CRIT chance
SHURIMA - golden army warriors have low balance all across stats, best warrior race for hybrid builds
PILTOVER - enforcers have the highest Magic ATT due to Hextech
FREJLORD - berserkers have higher ATT and HP
IONIA - blade masters have highest ATT SPEED and highest CRIT chance
BILGEWATER - brawlers have the highest HP
**higher and **highest are terms to compare warriors to other warriors from different regions
It would be cooler if the gave abilities to use(if it fits in the game design, the game can't have too much abilities either).
Demacia could have a defensive buff (something like garden W on league.
Noxiana could have an attack that have high crit change if the enemy is low HP. Etc..
Anyway, if they are passive buffs I would still like it
Grapplr, asmon and necrit in the same video makes me smile. I wish u would actually get togetheR and talk about this stuff. Your hot takes. Thats my dream now. For u 3 to get together and discuss this
I like it
The origins should buff things there are really situational,it would be cool, hard to get out of control being unbalanced and would also help in balancing other stuff. For example, maybe some ice mage class is a bit too strong, but they can easily be countered by Freljordians because the take less frost damage, but if everyone start to play as freljordian because of that, people will just use other classes that don't rely on frost damage, and now people don't have a reason to make a lot of freljordians, with that, some rotation would happen for a while, but since a lot of people would just keep their characters, this would create variety in builds
That guy in chat Zararthur seems to think he knows more than necrit so I’d like to see his version of this video cause I doubt it’s be anywhere near as well made
26:57 hahaha
assuming sdhyvana is a thing a dragon race could also be a thing.and the undead from shadow isles could end up becoming a race itself.lastly void creatures are palyable in league could be a race palyable in the mmo too
Please explain to me how any of this makes any more sense than Darkin, both seem incredibly far fetched to me
I would love to be an Oovi-Kat but I don't think they will let you soo...
Tbh I would prefer if PvP was not exclusively faction v faction but something you can just come across or willingly go to (The Noxkraya Arena is an example while the open fields in the northern regions can be Demacia v Noxus)
I don't think Faction vs Faction is superior. All I'm saying is that I think it's not a bad direction either.
@@GrappLrIRL But that can also severely hamper the more 'social' interaction of things unless you are forced into a guild. Also doing massive events that are exclusively PvP based would suck as that would draw the people's desire to minmax everything for who has the better race, subclass, equipment and etc.
only true friends play opposite teams and still have fun, i remember in BF4 when i played with my friends and one of us was forced to go to the other team(adm trying to balance the server), let's say that he either kill us or we would wipe the floor using him as a mop :v
Did you khow that Riot made a Partnership with Marvel, to make Comics... So yes expect the best comics from them, you Have Lux/Garen/Sylas Comic, you have a Zed/Shen/Jhin Comic (the best one for me), you have a Ashe Comic and a Darius/Draven Comic... Those are amazing to read!
so you want to be ichigo from bleach with that huge ass katana
So grapplr wants to play as Auron from FFX
I wanted to play as a Shadow isles Phantom like you play under Viego so you go into other regions ti take lives
I just wanna be a zed student
How could you forget 1 mana ionian, 4 attack, ephemeral card. Those shadow have 4 hands
I hope that in the mmo we have big strong female minotaurs and slender male minotaurs. (In addition of the classic big males and small females ass well) that sexy female minotaurs on LoR was such a mistake, but it could still be fixed if it was shown that she is an exception or something like that
14:28 sett snow the basterd
understandable he uses lor art, all of it is amazing
Need some bear shamans playable in freljord ,not minotours let them be in noxus and demacia.
Let me worship them old gods.
He referencing LoR because according to Riot, all cards on LoR are canon
commenting for algorithm
Think noxians should have 1% movespeed for conquering
Im playing targonion class
Well im early, maybe I get a GrappHeart?
no racials or starting stats this has been confirmed
Listen I'm all about heating on blizzard and saying that faction systems would work if it wasn't for people being money hungry but the simple truth is it has never worked in any game ever
Dark age of Camelot triple factions per server always came down to two dead races and one played faction
Warhammer online same thing
Age of Conan same thing
Anarchy online same thing
Rifts same thing we can make a list and it probably goes to at least 50 faction-based MMOs that always end up being only one played faction per server for more than 90% of it
Love the content though grapp
You keep being awesome dude I'll keep watching
How many of those faction based games gave rewards to the team with the lower player count proportional to how large the disparity was?
8:24
I mean the world named Runeterra and the games called legends of Runeterra....
Also league doesn't have enough pic to illustrate the world, Runeterra has more and also necrit is just a lore nerd
Has a hobby game dev, in my opinion, there shouldn't be any character customization exclusivity really just let people, freely pick whatever racial aesthetic they want.
On the other hand, your origin dictates your skills, without classes instead have 6 base skill trees (melee DPS, tank, melee magic, ranged DPS, healer, ranged magic) and you can freely use any skill within a max point limit so you can mix and match how you feel (yes it would be a nightmare to balance) with each region having its own twist but ultimately doing the same thing making sure people don't pick only one region because that's the optimal thing to do.
and you could have some hidden universal skill trees behind questlines too that everyone could unlock like void-related stuff and whatnot.
I feel like asymmetry in games ends up being more engaging in fun instead of everyone be a copy of each other game play wise. Also gives a feeling of uniqueness. Rules and limits make things more fun over all.
@@GiRR007 if you really think about it MMOs can really elude the sense of asymmetry with conditional mechanics, like the weird gimmicks in FF14 for every class, but the core mechanics do 4 things, buff/debuff, damage, tank, mitigate damage/heal.
It feels different, it plays different, but the common ground is there.
Yeah giving each race a specific combat advantage is just not gonna happen. That is by far the easiest way to break faction pride and min maxing would starts from the caracter creator right there. Vanilla wow is a perfect example of this. U wanna play an Alliance priest u better be a Dwarf for that Fear Ward or u gonna find it hard to get a raid/pvp slot. Same with Horde tanks, What your not a Tauren for higher HP well then your not getting a raid spot. Any race ability that can boost combat potential regardless how small is just not gonna happen.
Faction pride is strongest when the factions are actually different gameplay wise. You are always gonna have people min maxing and that isnt a bad thing
Not everyone is gonna be min maxing in the same way considering there are different classes. And not to mention asymmetry is just a more fun concept over all to most.
@@GiRR007 I´m not against factions having some diffrences it just cant be in there racial combat stats. If u form a pug for some dungeon running and u got 2 tanks whisper u 1 is a tauren and the other is an orc. U always gonna pick the tauren becouse without any additional information taurens always hade higher hp. Even if most ppl dident care about min maxing just the fact that u know that taurens have overall higher hp is enough to always exclude any other option.
If any1 today would go back to Wow Vanilla and they wanted to tank for the Horde 90%+ would go for a Tauren just becouse they hade that higher hp.
Grapplr has 5 times the money when he spend it on Brazil. Awesome strategy.
u played wow and AION. problem of fractions when one of them start me majority ... minority started to be pain
Pretty big fan of lotr. I would vote for lotr having cat and bunngirls. We already have LotRO which is pretty damn lore friendly (great game btw)
I've always had more fun doing coop than pvp with friends. Exceptions are 1v1 or 2v2 games (tekken, mk, brawlhalla). I like going on a journey with them and working together to destroy others. The pvp with friends also makes skill differences much more noticeable. Like if you play 40 hours a week while a mate plays 5 hours, you're not not going to be on even feet to fight (even with scaling most of the time). It's worse when races are faction locked. Made my decisions for what to play in ESO a lot harder.
As a kiwi (new zealander). It's sheep. Not goats.
(Minor spoilers for a manga). Hell's Paradise has a bit where it's as described with 34:00 where you learn from your captors.
I think he was being way too specific with the classes. Like blademaster doesn't need to be a class. It could just be a way that you spec your warrior (or similarly vague) build to focus on more speed type stuff. Another example is having a summoner class that gives you the option to choose between a few different summons (don't have access to all of them). No need for completely different classes.
Yes, playing against each other is playing together but if 90% of the player base is faction 1 then at max you can have 20% of your players engaging in cross faction activities while the rest have to wait.
It's like Qs in FF14. You can get into pretty much any dungeon / trial playing tank or healer, while you'll have to wait if you play dps. It just scales the problem up to 11 with factions
if I can't play a yordle in this MMO, that's very much not ok. I have not played an MMO seriously for years now. If I can't play the kind of character I want to play in this MMO, that's just another MMO I will be fully content not downloading. A lot of people just want character options. If those options aren't there, people like me just don't get into it.
Did Riot canceled the Mmo game of runeterra?
No, why?
@@GiRR007 so many talk about if its canceled or not i was curious 😎
Necrit is usually great at explaining the lore, I say usually because he reeeeeally over simplified and straight up misrepresented the vastaya-human connection. Vastayashai'rei were originally humans who connected with the spirit realm and took on shape shifting animalistic forms because of it, that is why humans can reproduce with them, they were humans, they're thinking consenting beings on par and above with humans. Condensing that to "humans mated with magical animals" is uuuuh a interesting way to bring attention to the game... Neeko is the closest to the Vastayashai'rei and that is why she has the ability to shapeshift.
Also Necrit's own ideas... are more in the line with the typical gamer who isn't a game dev 😅 Thank satan ghostcrawler has said he doesn't advocate for racials and wants to make the races purely cosmetic in their differences. If Necrit made the game it would be WOW 1.1 and only have dungeons and raids and nothing else since that seems to be the only cool part to mmos in his mind.
I dont understand his point about Darkins. Asking to play as a god? They are already playable in LoL, lol.
But that's not an MMORPG
I dont think your gonna get to play as any of the leauge of legends champions bur maybe you can work your way up to being as powerful as they are.
I watched whole asmon reaction and didn't noticed now i hear racist everytime
i like demacia because.. champions from demacia tends to yell ''DEMACIA'' with too much pride which makes it cool.. also except for the anti-mage movement in demacia its a great place and even then theres that movement for a very reasonable reason.. but ancestors dont define new generations so yea racism still bad
but shurima is my favorite one because the best part of the lore is around renekton/nasus imo those brothers are the story not Azir/Xerath.. then its probably freljord
The mage hatred is very much justified, imagine if in the modren world people would sometimes be randomly born than can just accidentally kill hundreds of people. I'm pretty sure we would hunt them down as well and with good reason. Not to mention power corrupts.
@@GiRR007 thats also true but i dont think hatred solves anything
The real question is... ARE POROS PLAYABLE????
How the fuck is Brazil a cheap place to live in?
Damn Bro, i'll never be able to hear him saying races again, i can only hear racist now, what have you done to me
"buff or nerf until you find a balance" Most games have been doing this for a long time now. Nah that aint it I strongly believe that every race should have the same stats with just varying cosmetics and leave the stats and skill changes to just the classes.
I think the races can be identical but would prefer it if the region you choose to start off with had some effect on your stats.
Gnomes are the best?? Dislike for saying that
