    Thank you times ten! ! !
    At 1:00 in your video, the electrical harness...
    I checked the one on my 2016 3500 and sure as spit it was hanging in the breeze! Both plastic body rivets were out and the connector & harness dropped.
    I used nice heavy Ty-Wraps to pull it back up into place and eliminate all possible 'rattle & wear".
    Thanks again for a great video.
    Regards,
    -Ej-

      Wrap the exposed wires! Get that fabric like electrical harness tape, wrap it all good then electrical tape it all really good the. Shoot a good petroleum based lubricant that will stay on! Zip tip everything right. Keeps the moisture out of the pins/ connector! Absolute must do! Shoot an petrol based line on every connector under side if possible. I promise it will save you headaches down the road.

    I have a 2014 3500 Duelly...had the same overhead dimmed light issue. Dealer had to replace it completely under warranty. The other issue I had which thankfully I found the answer on another forum was I kept blowing my running lights fuse (overhead cab lights/ marker lights). The dealer tried to resolve but simply put a new fuse and it just blew out again a week later. The problem was actually the wires supplying the drivers side fender marker is installed in a way that it is actually laying in between two of the leaf springs. This wore through the wires (which were exposed unprotected) and would then ground out whenever I put a load in the truck thus blowing the fuse. I resolved this by repairing the wires, putting some wire protection over the wires and using a lock tie to ensure it stayed out of the way. Thanks for the video.

    I've had a few small electrical issues with my truck. I had to replace the light panel you mentioned. I've had the come and go door handles replaced. I also had the master control switch for door locks and windows replaced. All of that happened at the same time. and my back up camera messes up sometimes but so far it's corrected itself. I don't know what kind of paint and clear coat they out on these trucks but it's garbage. on a positive note I fully deleted my truck and I'm running hardway cps4 tuning, 5 inch turbo back exhaust with muffler and installed an s and b intake and wow this is how these trucks need to run from the factory. I run it on tune 2 unless I'm towing then I put it on tune 1.

    Hmm, I've had my '16 Power Wagon a little over a year now with 27k on the clock, only issue, the passenger side low beam projector went from the distinct cut off pattern to a blob. Cruise is flawless as was the paint and all panel/bed alignment. The thing is awesome off-road (rivals my 80 series Land Cruiser) and incredibly nice on the highway, even towing. Much better than the Dmax it replaced.

    great info here Paul. I also have a 2014 Ram like yours. dually Laramie Limited. have to take it into the dealer today to get the scr system fixed as they won't give me registration here in California because of smog. recall T 05 .six other recalls are r23 occupant restraint module. number three, r36 steering wheel wiring. number 4, r46 front suspension track bar. number 5 T25 safety recall occupant restraint module inspect. number 6. T51 diesel water pump dealer will replace if needed due to fire danger. after what you said about water pump failure I hope they replace it.# 7. T79, brake transmission shift interlock. I also have the dome light failure or that they are on are on just dim and the dealer will give me a price on this. also my front tires wear bad on the outside edges and an alignment will cost me $139. both front tires have been replaced. the stock one on the driver side developed a delamination of the treads on. the inside causing a out of round and vibration. 28,800 miles. nexgen tire. my trailer wiring circuit relay is stuck on sending constant power to my camper even when the truck is turned off. I sometimes unplug the camper so I don't drain my truck battery. $175 diagnostic fee to tell me what the problem is with this. I'm hoping for that money they will just replace the relay for me. curious if you have had any or all of these recalls also. I have changed the rear end oil and put on the awesome MTD pan with the magnets built in. luckily did not notice any metal shavings in the old pan or on the stock magnet. I carry a heavy arctic fox 951 camper since buying this truck new. no other problems luckily besides these recalls and the dome light front alignment and trailer wiring. I believe in the dually with the 410 gearing. although my mileage is not much better than 10 and I heard you are doing better than that but I do have a huge camper pushing a lot of wind. and I love driving in the Sierra Nevadas pulling a motorcycle trailer in addition. love your channel and hearing you talk about these trucks is a big help to a lot of us. thanks again.

  • @highlightsbottleflipnbanfl1847

    What gearing do you have in that rear end? The lower the number the less weight your able to tow. I dont know for certian but a 4.10 ratio will not handle the loads you are describing in your videos.

    Hey PD, thanks for the info. I have had my "16 RAM 3500, Cummins, Aisin, 342 rear for a few months now, 11000 mi. 20-25 mg. I also notice the wire harness exposed. There is another just harness just in front of the one you pointed out semi hidden. Seems these should be protected better, especially since it is inline with the inner treads of the front tire. Have you covered it in any way from road debris/moisture? I was considering a type of shell/PVC to protect it.
    Also, did RAM fix the plaguing steering stabilizing issue from previous years?

  • @Nirvin73
    @Nirvin73 Před 7 lety

    Hey PD, hope all is well. RAM replaced a wheel/tire combo since they could not balance it with less than 12oz of weights. The new wheel and tire, mounted on the rear, still has a shimmy at varying speeds. You had mentioned it took "beads" to balance yours for a smooth ride? I've tried various pressures, since factory 80 lbs makes the thing bounce when unloaded. I see you run 70lbs.
    I'm wondering if it may have a rear axle issue or just a wheel/tire problem. I'll mention at the 15k servicing. It is frustrating. You mention magnetic drain plugs to catch metal shaving and fuzz, to check for wear and such. Does this come standard with RAM, or an after market? They have had those in all the aircraft I've flown, which tells quite the story.
    I'll be towing a 5th wheel at the most with this, so my other thought was adding air bags.

    • @redwood6737
      @redwood6737 Před 5 lety

      there is no drain plug on the 2014 3500 Dually rear axle. funny since it's a nice-looking finned aluminum cover. I took mine off and bought the one from mag hytech which holds 1 gallon extra fluid and has three magnets with a drain plug . also an awesome fill port on top. there is enough room under these trucks to even dump the gallon jug into a funnel on top. no fussing with a stupid pump. the pan is $270 out of Oregon or Washington. will cost you 2 x $40 for 2 gallons of synthetic fluid. do this every 20,000 if your heavy towing.

    I'm in the market for a new 2018 ram truck cummins. I'm debating between 3500 aisin vs 2500. I will not be doing anything that will be too much for the 2500. But I'm a power guy and when there is extra power to be had I get greedy. My question is... Is the ride quality worth sacrificing for the 3500 and aisin or keep the 2500 knowing the most I'll probalby tow will probably be between 8-10k??

    • @pddieselpower

    • @terryhenry5800
      @terryhenry5800 Před 6 lety +1

      Aisin is a waste of your money in a SRW truck. And, The g56 manual has the lowest tow capacity of all the options. I doubt any salesman is going to tell you that. The SRW trucks have a much lower gcwr due to the NON-OPTION 3.42 gear ratio they all come with. You cannot even order lower gears from the factory on SRW'S. The Chrysler 68rfe auto 6 speed actually has a slightly higher tow capacity in the SRW than the Aisin. Look it up yourself if in doubt. Bottom line is if you are not buying a dually where you have gear ratio options then save your money and get the 68rfe.

    I've had three vehicles with messed up factory paint. Two were metallic colors that looked inconsistent in color and the other was a black which I actually found areas were the paint had been applied too heavy and ran and then dried. I made the mistake of letting the dealer convince me they could fix the black one with the run issues. They botched the repair so bad in two attempts that I threatened to get a lawyer unless they wrote me a check for the full price I paid for the vehicle. They wrote me a check and I walked away.

      JDPower 55 I had a bad history with that dealership with another vehicle and I don't think they wanted to risk me going nuts on them. About a year prior to that I brought my then two month old Mustang back to them for a simple power window fix. One of the techs thought he'd take it for a test drive and see what the performance mods I had done would do. He lost control and wrapped it around a large tree and totaled it. They wrote me a check for that one too. I should have learned my lesson the first go around with them.

    the speedometer problem is because of your aftermarket wheels.

    • @tannerparrish3807
      @tannerparrish3807 Před 7 lety

      Pro Mountain Biker I wouldn't say that, his wheels don't seem to be big, 33s? I would doubt there 35s but it's a big truck so it's hard to tell, vs a smaller sized truck, and if his wheels were too big he would have his tire pressure light thing on, cause of the sensors, unless he used the sensors he had from his old tires, in that case, the tires aren't too big for the speedometer. My 2010 ST 1500 has a 4 inch lift and 35x12.5 tires and I don't have any speedometer issues, maybe once but I can't be sure cause I can't see the speed to well cause of how small the numbers get in between the rounded. I was going 50 it seemed like but the construction sign thing said 51 lol

    Not to mention chevy has had 1 transmission since the duramax. Dodge has had several that all have failed and what a coincidence the last transmission name sounds a awful like Allison

      The allison 1000 series is rated right at the limit in the duramax.. have seen several with split trans cases thst towed heavy.. asian is a devision of toyota heavy industries and has been arround for obout 70 years.. look at any foreign medium duty and they have a asian transmission.. ohh and every toyota/lexus/kia/and a bunch of GM stuff.. learn a little before you open your mouth and show how ignorant you are... there is a reason you dont see hotfreight duramax trucks...

      Not much with the truck being empty. They shine when loaded. Yes they give you a better ride and control when well loaded. I did replace them at around 35k on the truck. so oem were still good.

    I considered all of the Big3 before buying my 2500HD. A Ford was just a hair too tall to fit into my garage; Ram was just too close for comfort. I do like the fit and finish of my GMC better than the Ram and Super Duty I drove. There are some features (all trivial, not deal breakers) that I wish mine had whereas Ram & Ford do. My Duramax is so damn smooth and quiet; it’s amazing, but my ears still want to hear a Cummins. People that are so set on one brand and that argue their opinions like children on the internet are amusing. They’re all solid choices, in my opinion.

    Boys boys. Duramax LML and L5P with Allison transmission will out pull and out run any dodge or Ford truck you've talked about. Hell the LML duramax stock could start 5 miles behind either truck you mentioned catch and pass before mile 10 and finish first. Seriously 7% grade 55mph 4th gear 3.42 gears that's a childs bigwheel performance
