    If I hadn't got mine with the g56 it definitely would've been the aisin. Tons of trucks making big power with the g56 and a decent clutch. I wish RAM never dropped the manual

    I’ve had good luck with the Aisin transmissions but I will say, the Allison definitely shifts a lot smoother when unloaded and definitely seems smarter on the shifts. The Aisin lasts good and I like the lower temps that it produces compared to the Ford and Allison but it doesn’t shift as smooth or as smart. Now I can say the Aisin AS68RC that was the first generation had a bunch of short comings. I’ve seen a few in some 4500’s that overheated and had clutch failures at less then 150,000 miles. They also would not shift into 6th gear while in tow haul mode and with low gear ratios it was not nice on the highway.

    • @1hasbeen531
      @1hasbeen531 Před rokem

      Agree, the Aisin is tough, but is a real stumblebum when it comes to driveability/shift quality. Mine had a bad shudder on the 2-3 upshift when pulling, plus all the other Aisin quirks.

    • @TermiteBenny
      @TermiteBenny Před rokem +2

      @@1hasbeen531 my 5500 shifts good, my 3500 shifts stupid. Just like yours, it shutters on the 2-3 shift when pulling a load. Both trucks have a funny vibration sound when shifting into 4th, it sounds like the torque converter lock up making a sound. Both have done it from new.

    I’m new to this aisin transmission bought a 2023 ram 3500 so I have some questions. Do all of your trucks with this transmission constantly down shift on slight hills towing? My truck would go into 4th gear on a little baby hill that my 2012 ram 68rfe would just stay locked up in. Now the aisin transmission blow up at 1,300 miles. Also the radio stopped working and at 100 mile injector misfires at 300 injector misfires at 600 injectors misfiring!!! Now at 1,300 yes injector misfires.

    I just bought a 2022 3500 mega cab with the high output engine and Aisen transmission in it. It has 16,000 miles on it but going into second or third gear it seems to hesitate to shift especially if starting out slow on a hill. Is that to be concerned with? I'm at 170k in my 2016 with the Aisin. So far so good. Amsoil fluid every 20-25k since it was at the original 30k, seems happy with it.
    I tow a 20k 5th wheel about 40% of the time, and it's a service truck for the remaining miles.

    Mine literally started acting up on 326. It's a 2018 4500 four-wheel-drive 444 rear. I was sitting at a stoplight and it felt like someone grabbed the accelerator shortly after after a few cycles of shifting the truck simulating shift flares I haven't had a chance to diagnose, but I am thinking it's probably a valve body and one or more solenoids. There was no sheer showing so there was no rise. The fluid is still bright red with no burnt smell, so I'm leaning towards electrical maybe a ground or valve with the solenoids what do you think?

    Have you ever had problems with pan bolts breaking? I've snapped off 3. Used heat and they won't budge. Had it to a transmission shop and they gave up. Said Aisin installs the bolts without locktite and the steel bolts fuse to the aluminum case. If they were locktited, a little heat would melt the locktite and they would come right out. @@pddieselpower There is a new TSB that was just released for the 2022/23 Aisin's. There is a snap ring that holds the K1 clutch drum on the input shaft and the groove in the input shaft wasn't machined deep enough. So the snap ring pops out of the groove and allows the clutch drum to wonder around inside the transmission. The fix is they have to open the transmission and if the input shaft is damaged, they replace the transmission. If its still good, they replace the input shaft and clutch drum and send you on your way.
