My favourite part of this movie was how odd the pokemon looked. It made them somehow more interesting
Honestly they massacred my boi greninja in the movie.
They looked like
Y'know
M O N S T E R S
@@grenindraw6947 greninjas design is uglier than i thought
Only pokemon i didn't like was Greninja. It body was too muscular
@@PPPPPPPPP135 bro it looks nothing like greninja in game
Tbh I was just impressed Nintendo played the uncanny designs. Like fuckit, they’re MONSTERS and should look like monsters!
It wasn't Nintendo though 💀
Nintendo only sells and markets the games, the rest is up to developers and producers
@@MosesX-Labs Yes, but Nintendo is very protective of their properties and would oversee what they are doing
@@TheMrJaws826 Oh, yeah, that's true. I kinda forgot about that. 😅
Gamefreak, not nintendo
I love how big torterra was in this movie, made the mini ecosystem on his back feel like someone could actually live there
Those were genetically engineered Torterra though, you can see normal-sized ones too.
They Still pretty cool
Dynamax
@@Jelbella can't believe detective Pikachu predicted dynamax
I don't know why but that torterra scene looks like the kaiju in Godzilla King of the Monsters. I just don't know that monster name though 😔
Okay but the Bulbasaur design cured my depression. Peak little guy
i teared up in the cinema when i saw them waddling
Did y'all really think the swirl on Jigglypuff's head was flesh??
Yeah. Everything about its lore just makes it sound like some sort of rubbery hairless cat.
@@craniiferIsn’t it classified as the Balloon Pokémon? Believing it’s rubbery and bouncy seems fair.
@@Elementroar I thought it was more in a kirby sense where she can inflate herself, just like a balloon
@@coomcharger6105This crazy Pokemon just digs this tune
HUH!
I’ve genuinely never understood how some of these designs are so hated. All I wanted since I was a kid was Pokémon in live action, so I don’t care if some look a little uncanny. I love all of them :)
Mr Mime is actually spot on. He's supposed to be a freak
Just ask Ash's mom.
Gengar's design was actually pretty accurate since it's a ghost type and it likes to scare others, so it's perfect!
That Ludicolo is my sleep paralysis demon
I like it in a weird way and I would accept a drink from it any day
Has anyone else seen those old (2010s) images of hyperrealistic pokémon like Gyarados and the like? Well, the artist of those images was actually hired to make the designs for this movie!
I honestly feel like all the designs genuinely fit each creature. Especially with the anime designs being on adds and baloons, it makes it feel like how you’d expect these creatues to be liks in real life versus cartoonified. Just like disney vs real versions of things like hyena’s or buffalos.
That kick ball sound effect just brought up so many memories from school. It was so crisp and well done
Just realized now that Ludicolo has a beard
I loved them all. even the uncanny ones. it made for one of the most fun movie experiences ever
plus, who could ever hate those bulbasaurs. so cute I almost died.
That Golurk goes hard. Fun fact it was my first shiny mon ever back in black 2 white 2
Gengar and Mr mime terrifyed me and I had it on dvd so I was watching it alot and it's still terrifying
Wigglytuff has fine fur according to its Pokedex so Jigglypuff does as well but it is weird to think about a Balloon with fur🤭😆😅
in lore Jigglypuff is light enough so small wind can blow him away.
Ive never seen it as a balloon cuz the Pokedex descriptions just talk about the role of the pokemon more so than what they actually are (as in, Jigglypuff - the balloon pokemon)
I honestly liked Detective Pikachu the Movie's rendition of Gengar. Like it's a ghost-type, one of the original ghost-types. I get it if people didn't like the way it looked, but to me now and back then in the theater it made too much sense to make it look creepy like that. After all the Gengar we are used to seeing has a more cuter appearance so that it's marketable.
Bro looks like: “have any games on your phone”
But of course I’ll respect your opinion 💖
Dang, Golurk it's my favorite pokemon, I wish he get more love and time
Need detective pikachu 2 justs so i can see these weird guys again. Loved them lol
all i need to see is realistic design of Trapinch. It's my most favorite pokemon and it will be funny if someone used him in combat using hyper beam.(yes, he can learn that via level up)
Honestly, the Pokémon designs is probably my favorite thing about the detective pikachu movie. I love how they look like realistic and feasible creatures while stills looking like Pokémon. I think it was really well done overall
They hired a really popular DeviantArtist from who would post Realistic pokemon with a measurement background, using a typical human as a comparison point.
This was before the site became unusable. Haven't been there since but I was so happy the guy got the job on that movie, totally deserved it.
@@kyaksachan502 I wonder if Netflix hired him as well for their red and blue series
I love that i know who did this. I liked the guys art before the movie, he made realistic pokemon art. He got hired to make the designs for the movie, and while they werent the same as the ones he made before (so they looked more on model) you can tell it was him.
I think my favorite pokemon design from the movie was Flareon. Although its appearance was very brief, it looked really fluffy and soft. Probably very nice to pet and cuddle.
I always liked the detail that Charmander was heating up a pan with it's tail
My opinion on Cursed Child's canonicity is: only consider canon what you want to, it was such a late addition to the canon, and it was developed by three people (though yes, one of them was the OG author)
As Golurk's #1 fan, I freaking ADORED his presence in the movie for all those two seconds
I think my biggest issue with Jigglypuff is that it's design invoked a seal-like smooth fur and fatty body. Not Hairy Furball
Gengar scared me so bad!
Ludicolo not wearing a huge hollowed out pineapple is something I'll never accept
Let's be honest though, Gengar being nightmarish is perfectly in character for it.
The movie made a film render of my favorite Pokemon: Sneasel! I do appreciate the studio's varied range of Pokemon they picked to render.
They mentioned why the "kickball" shoulders.
Bro forgot aipom
The way jigglypuffs fur is implies that the curl is made of flesh, not long hair
people not expecting jugglypuff to have fur was unexpected for me.
Wigglytuff is said to have fine fur so why can't Jigglypuff have fur
@@Ezequias.Suarez it’s not even that did people think that thing on the head was a tumor or something?
It’s clearly a fluff swirl
You can see the crimes of humanity reflected in that gengar's eyes
DP Snubbull is literally the best redesign ever, change my mind
My boy Golurk got done justice.
Lets go! Golurk recognition!
Golurk is my favorite Pokémon ever so I’m glad he got a cameo
I always love some support for my main man golurk, and the movie design was amazing.
And then there's Bulbasaur. Actually glorious. Adorable little bastard.
I actually really loved how pokemon were portrayed in that movie. It kept them fun interesting and still cute without making them feel out of place or just patched into the world. They feel like they belokg. I really want to see more.
Golurk is my fav pokemon and I squealed with joy when I saw him
I love the Mr. Mime Part of the Movie
so funny
Bro I didn't know my boy Golurk was in detective pikachu...and he looks GORGEOUS 💅✨️
Golurks my favorite mon so I was ecstatic when I saw him in the background!
These Pokemon look like those realistic mario enemies mfs would make in photoshop in the early 2010's
They look like those old inages where people would photoshop simpsons/family guy/etc characters to be "realistic"
Does he know?
guy who made realistic pokemon back in 2010's is actually main designer of pokemon in this movie.
@@kraftik5300that’s so dumb lmao
@@rileyyyyh yet it's true
@@rileyyyyh it worked anyway
I honestly loved pokemon black and white and i wish we saw more pokemon from those games in the background
i think that they got mr mime perfect. he’d be terrifying irl
Now this makes me curious about if every Pokémon was designed like this, we might have gotten a small peak at this with the Toyota miraidon motorcycle.
Me mine interrogation scene was hilarious.
I'd still have a Gengar but I think he'd be in my nightmares for a while
Greninja looked so creepy in Detective Pikachu.
Bouffalants Design was also pretty cool
We also have the perfection that is live action Bulbasaur
The chairzard looked dope
These designs are mostly nightmare fuel to me, I stand by that
I loved it it was spot on to all of it
As a huge golerk lover they did my big boi so much justice in DPTM
I remember when the movie first came out (I was 8 at the time) but I’ve been addicted since the two packs of Pokémon cards they handed me (good times)
The problem with the designs is that they were too doll like.
They were less like animals and more like living dolls.
The fluffy Jigglypuff is cute 😊
They need to make a part 2 fr
I like how Morelull looks in it
Panchum is god
Oh, I remember seeing that movie last year, when I was on the plane during my trip in Spain!
Thanks, RJ Palmer, for these designs~
I want a second one already😭 I know they dropped it and even if it wasn’t too good of a movie itself I just wanna see more live action pokemon
I just love the huge Torterra. I really wish there were some wild ones of that size
continental pokemon in action.
Pretty good for a movie based on a video game
I DIDNT KNOW MY GOAT GOLURK WAS IN THE MOVIE HE LOOKS SO COOL
I wish we could see golurks other forms in live action
I love what they did with Greninja and Torterra.
This movie justified my younger selves fear of mister mime
Ain’t no way he just dissed generation 5 💀
YES, WE NEED A MOVIE ABOUT GOLURK. FOR REASONS.
Also: big guy was also in the crowd at the underground battle arena. Of course I noticed him. Big lug is my baby.
Aimpom looks like a angry Teletubby.
it's design is literally monke in teletubby suit.
As a Gengar myself, I actually loved Flesh Gengar. Such a horrid little fucking beast.
Imagine hairless Jigglypuff for a moment, imagine that all of its body is just fleshy skin
My favorite from the movie were the Torterra!
I had no idea that golurk was in this movie but damn he looks awesome
My favorite part of the Movie was seeing a Growlithe and the rest of the movie is with it
The failure of black and white was the beginning of the end for pokemon. Those games are some of the best in the series
I need more live action Pokémon shows
Ngl jigglypuff's hair in scarlet & violet looks like it's flesh
I *screamed* when i saw joltik
I went to see the film thinking that it was going to be horrible and weird, it was actually pretty good. They did a pretty good job giving a good ambiance of the "poke world"
Next time they do a live action Pokémon adaptation they need to hand it off to the Jim Henson company. Give me my muppet mudkip now!
Not sure if it was just me that thought this but when I saw Mr.Mime in this movie his shoulders look like dodgeballs
Ryan Reynolds was literally pikachu, they had to make it look good💀
I personally liked the movie, and I really liked how the Pokemons looked
Look, given it's shape, it's either Jigglypuff's Hair or it's Umbilical Chord, you pick...
Detective pikachu was probably my favorite Pokemon movie ever. The rest are okay, but this one is just amazing.
The nailed Mr Mime in the movie its supposed to be unsettling
Can we talk about the adorable bulbasaurs tho? 🥺
All of that looks like uncanny valley nightmare fuel and Sonics original live action design
your pokemon is: detective pikachu movie
If they made live action jigglypuff's curl a solid lump like in the game it would look like a tumor.
imagine live action jigglypuff had balls on its face in movie HD.
