The beginning of Gen 3 plays sooooo much like gen 1 that i feel like they were trying to tell us something. 1st town gym you skip Travel through the forest to get to 3rd town. 3rd town gym is rock type next to a cave through a mountain. In gen 3, the gym leader of the first gym you skip to do later is your dad. In gen 1, the gym leader of the gym you skip is giovanni.
They should make a movie where oak propose to Merry ashes mom they have this wedding and when anyone comes to objections. A old beared man kicks down the door. And calls out professor oak challanges him to a pokemon battle. Flashback: twist is oak ashes parents where all in team rocket. Some shit went down and oak and ashes mom basically testified against team rocket and ashes dad. My thoughts is that Professor Oak is the kid that crossed over time and spent time with Ash and that's why he gave Pikachu to Ash to help Ash save him so he dated ash's mom but his dreams of becoming a scientist caused ash's mother and him to drift apart but still love and look after ash that's why she has a Mr Mime because Oak gave him to her even though they come from a poor family and Mr Mime's usually belong to rich families as servants also explains why Pikachu is so overpowered

Giovanni would make sense. His gym is in pallet town. And usually the villain leaves his family. And it could be why team rocket always tries so hard to get him to join. Technically Giovanni could have crushed Ash quite a few times and he did not. He allowed himself to be defeated by Ash. And when he did get defeated by him, before it cuts with his face in the dark, he smirks. Hinting that he was proud of Ash.
