The thing about gmaxing was that it was underutilized in the story. The only place you could do it was in dens or gyms. Other than that there were like two or three story encounters where you had to fight a gmax mon without being able to yourself
Still better than megas, that were almost completely not used by a single trainers outside of two.
@@marinagaleottiThat was just poor execution of the NPCs (especially the terribly weak Gym Leaders). It didn't affect the gimmick itself.
@@Mystmon This particular conversation in the comment section is about the utilization of the mechanics within the stories of the games, so...
And they took forever to activate and lasted a short time vs megas activate once they last the whole match and can be used every match.
@@whiteboyangel4838I would say that that's a good thing because with megas 99% of the time its stupid to not mega evolve meanwhile there are some downsides to gmaxing from the get go

Megas: awesome new designs.
Gigantimax: big.
Tera: hats.
"Awesome new designs" is questionable
Some mega's were way overdesigned imo and were given to pokemon who really didn't need them most of the time
Atleast teras make pokemon battles more interesting
What about the Z-moves cause you possibly can't forget about heaven-scorching-light-of-destruction
@@T.A.G.t3am well admittedly I never played the generation when mega evolutions became a thing. i started playing in Blue version, then played Crystal, then played Soulsilver, then didn't even bother with the series until Legends Arceus. I just looked back at the gimmicks for the previous and current generations and made a general observation.

Gigantamax was an interesting concept but Mega Evolution was, and still is, just too good to be topped
Megas are just: pokemon gets two more spikes so we give it an absurd base stat buff. At least gmax form have sense. Honestly cant understand why megas are so liked.
@@marinagaleottithey're a temporary evolution for a popular pokemon what's there not to understand? Even if the buffs were so much less new forms and evolutions will always be popular it's a big part of pokemon

For anyone that doesn’t understand the pokemon system yes megas are good. For anyone who does, tera and gigantamax are good. The designs are the only good part of it
Fun fact gmax toxtricity gmax was actually not in the game until after the game came out in a event
For anyone wondering what the background music is, it's from Persona 3 Reload.

Silly as it may sound… I think they can just make the Gigantamax forms into Mega Evolutions to marry the ideas together. Keep the cool designs, play around with some typings and abilities, and just make them not 100 feet tall.
And because you know Gamefreak would absolutely let Charizard have a third mega, just call it Mega Charizard G and they’ll be drooling at all the merch they can make of it
Gamefreak seeing porygon: 🙄
Gamefreak when pikachu and charizard: 😃😃😃😛😃😃🙂😨😥🎶🎶😈😈😈😥🙂😭
Imagine wanting for years for an X Y complement finaly come out with brand new megas and what you get is model recycling from another games gimmick.
They are probably making a charizard z form for the new game. It is also probably going to be a kaloian charizard that goes into the mega z form so they can give charizard 2 new forms in 1 game.
Mega Charizard Z goes hard
I actually said this in another thread, someone pointed out that both final evos of the applin line use the same gigantamax, so how would you go about that?
Gotta love it's going down now playing in the background
Disturbing the peaaaace!!!
PERSONA 3 MENTIONED WTF IS A TARTAR SAUCE 🗣🗣💢💢
I will admit that Mega Evolution was a far superior mechanic, but to me, Gigantamaxing felt like the perfect happy medium between Mega Evolution and Z Moves. I really enjoyed Gigantamax when it was around!
Likewise. With the DLC, I upgraded the Dynamax of every possible member in my team into Gigantamax. Felt so cool.
That’s how I view it too, it definitely felt like Gamefreak was trying to combine the two in a way. What with most moves being the same thing depending on type like z moves and of course unique forms for some Pokémon like megas and of course unique moves for only a couple of Pokémon again like z moves. That and I feel like gmax is a bit better because it doesn’t require your Pokémon to hold a specific item to be able to do it like zmoves and megas do.
Happy medium? Dyna/Gigantimax was a terribly balanced mechanic, getting 3 turns with double HP and Z-move damaging attacks that set terrain/weather, give yourself +1 or your opponents-1 stats, and all while having no downsides, is absolutely busted
Yeah, competitive says otherwise, man.
@@justeternal4726not as busted as Megas was which changed every stat to make specific Mons better and a few Mons a REQUIREMENT to have rather than in Galar there really was only one Mon as a requirement
To answer the text on the last joke... nah, not old yet. Its fast and somewhat sparse, so doesn't fester in the mind for too long.
What
I’d say GMAX was and still is a very fun gimmick. Watching your Pokémon not only turn into a Titan but have a different unique look is awesome. Plus Dynamax in general is fun, especially in the stadiums with the crowd going nuts.
Kaiju. Not titans lol
Z move is best, a one time immense power move.
@ronin85 meh held item for a one off or held item for a major stat boost
If you like a unique look, megas did that same thing but better and they have new abilities, types, and improved base stats
Can also mega your pokemon _anywhere_ and lasts the whole battle.

I prefer mega-evolution... it felt more grounded in Pokemon than Gigantamax/Dynamax does. Although, I will say it's a bit weird that Greninja, Chesnaught, and Delphox... The starters introduced with Kalos, can't mega-evolve. No, Ash-Greninja does not count.
Same thing with Cinderace, Inteleon and Rillaboom being unable to Gigantamax, unless you pay for DLC and make some soup.
What's with introducing mechanics that the starters for the region it's introduced in can't do it, but Charizard can?
We didn't have this problem for Alola's Z-moves.
Me who keeps a pokemon with nuzzle on standby. 👀 uh oh they found me 😆

I'm still praying that Flygon gets a Mega in Z-A
I cannot believe the soup wasn't just standard. Yep i have a shiny orbeetle . Fucking bs man.
Gmax is really cool gameplay wise. For what are essentially just big flashy moments at the end of big battles, Gmaxing works great. It knows it’s cheesy and embraces it.

TIL Melmetal has a GMAX form.
Is Melmetal even from a different region. It made its first appearance in Go and made its first mainline appearance in Kanto so I guess technically we have one more Kanto Gigamax.
Gotta be from some region but as for now. It's info doesn't show it and the pokedex on Pokémon Go has it near the bottom. Who knows where it's from. (Other than it's box)
Alola, has no one watched the sun moon anime?
Meltan and Melmetal are officially of "Unknown Origins".
Imagine how huge a gigantic whalord would be.
Now we're speaking my language.
I do think megas are the best gimmick gameplay wise but I love the gigantamax forms way more. Mega ampharos is one of the few megas I do love.
I hope we get a game in the future that makes dynamax not lame. Definitely never going to top megas but at least it will be more satisfying.
Gigantamax had me super hyped when it was teased
Nuzzle is underrated. In gen 8, i akways had a Toxtricity with nuzzle as a move set ti garentee a paralysis as i landed tgroat spray boosted sound moves like boom burst and overdrive
Gmax was just so much fun to use in battle and was a great mechanic.
Also, I loved using Gmax Meowth to rake in money and get cheaper Vitamins to EV train my Pokemon...
It's just more work in SV....
My only gripe is with the names. One comes from gigantic and one from dynamic. But the one where the Pokémon only becomes gigantic is Dynamax and the one where they also change is Gogantimax. It's switched... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
That's a translation issue, in Japanese it's just "bigmax", Daimax.
You forgot dynamaxing increases their HP stat
I love Gigantamax it’s my favorite gimmick because it’s really powerful like boost to damage double health and special moves, but it’s also really well balanced because it only lasts for three turns which is a lot longer than it sounds and the big one for me, any Pokémon can use it easily
yeah i love gmax, its like a combo of megas and z moves! i think they could've done more with it story wise ... it was hinted at to be important but they never really went into it as much as I'd like
I really wish they'd retcon Ash Greninja and all the GMax formes into being mega evolutions. I hate that they'll likely just be lost forever
PERSONA 3 RELOAD MUSIC NOTICED
Imagine a Pokémon game with every mechanic that exist like z moves dynamax/gmax teracrystalisation mega and all of that
I think the most overlooked generational gimmick was actually really fun. Gems were powerful nuke buttons but you had less control over them than z powers
Yea baby my boy garbodor got a sick gigantamax form
Inseart atack on Titan meme
Me when it's going down now
And then there’s me considering Z-Moves the best Pokémon mechanic.
Finally, someone who agrees that gmaxing isn’t as bad as so many people say it is. I honestly got hyped whenever I saw my Pokémon become absolute behemoths and stood behind me all menacing. I had fun with it personally.
Palossand was particularly cool, as he rose from the ground when you dynamaxed him. Probably one of my favorites
The aesthetic of mega is better but that's about it imo. I really like that gmax limits it to just three turns a battle
Though honestly the most interesting gimmick is tera tbh. It makes team comps a lot more intriguing and helps to get more coverage without breaking the game
Dynamaxing was my absolute favorite thing(never ran a G max Pokemon lol) because just look at my little Joltik becoming a titan lol
I’m still miffed they only did GMAX with kanto and galar mon only (also garbodor). The kanto bias was terrible in gen 8
Omg the P3Reload soundtrack in the background???? Its Going Down Now actually sounds great here lol
I really wanted to see a Gmax seviper :(
Literally any Galar starter and/or Urshifu fan: screw you too
Are we just gonna ignore its going down now in the background 😭
W persona music
You don't need to go outside for Meltan, they spawn without moving
I love turning my pokemon into godzilla characters
The song you can heard in the background is an instrumental versión of "I'm Going Down", from the new Persona 3 Remake
I'll start commenting this since there's a lot of CZcamsrs that use bangers and dont fucking list the songs they use, what a waste
Gigantimax gets less hate than it deserves.
I hate that Venusaur and Blastoise's forms were locked behind DLC, but fucking Charizard was in the base game because of course he was. Least he didn't get two this time...
We don't only need more megas, we need from other regions 😢
C'mon charizard, leave something for the rest
I don't really understand the reason behind locking the new forms behind the post game. Like i don't think i ever used a gmax form in the whole game because it was such a chore to get it. Even the starters didn't get their special forms.
Same here. I never even bought the DLC for SwSh.
Gigantamaxed cinderace is so cool
WHERE'S LOTUS JUICE?!?? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM
It's Going Down is a banger, Persona 3 Reload is a great game i recommend
Terapagos effectively uses a mega form instead of a tera form. And Palafin has an alternate condition for pseudo-mega evolution.
This is a really interesting video but i cant help but to DISTURBING THE PEACE 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Another thing about Gigantamax is that some Pokémon are simply better off with a regular Dynamax. Some signature G-Max Moves are pretty bad.
Gmax probably wasn’t available at first for ranked battles because of how rare they were. They were only in the rare dens and only a 5% chance. They only legalized each gmax form when it had a max raid event for it and it was easy to get.
I really wish BDSP got a little more TLC. How cool it would’ve been for them to incorporate Gigantamax/Dynamax lore into Sinnoh.
It would have been cool, but it also would have made no sense. Sinnoh has its own ancient lore, I don't want to see it retconned any more than it already has been. I am not a fan of the whole Hisui thing.
No Unova didn't done Gigantamax first it was actually the first season of the Pokemon Anime.
*DISTURBING THE PEACE*
I never noticed how Garboder is the only gigantimax not from kanto or galar that you can get in game.
My main problem with gmaxing was just that so few pokemon actually had new forms :/
am i the only one who thinks it's funny and fitting how the picture in the "Merg" card looks like Frisk but with a hat
Gigantimaxing (just Dynamaxing for me, one of many things that define my character is her inability to ever Gigantimax her Pokemon) is my favorite gimmick.
Why? Because I love looking back at other characters like "Look who's in charge now, I have an extra-strong giant on my team!"
I love gmax and tera
The show did it first. Giant dragonite and tentacruel
DISTURBING THE PEACE 🗣️🗣️🗣️
They should bring back all the battle gimmicks, but unlike sm and usum they should limit you to 1 per battle just so hings dont get too convoluted.
Imagine they had alpha and omega but you dont get mega stones and you have to buy them instead with real money
Oh yeah, dream Luigi
Dyna/gmax always felt much more balanced since you had 3 tunes to utilize it, I always felt like megas became overpowered and you could change them in and out and still keep the form
It does feel like a lot of Gen 8 Pokémon we designed with the Gmax form in mind so looking at them now without it they just kinda feel unfinished. Like every time I see Drednaw I think it needs something else
Yesterday, I fought a G-Max Snorlax with my own from Red, whom I gave G-Max with Belt Drum Sitrus Berry (honestly quite proud of that idea). His name is Big Man, and at level 100 with max stats, he already had 524 HP. G-Maxed to *1048* 😂 as he dealt the final Body Slam, I said "get 'im, Big Man! Prove you're the bigger man!" And then realized a fun double meaning in that. "Being the bigger man" in an argument, but also just literally *having a larger body mass*
It's a shame so few of my team members can G-Max, though. Oh, also note that you can give soup to a G-Max and revert it back! I did this for my Orbeetle bc the Gravity effect just wasn't as useful as Max Mindstorm.
If you don't know how to get a GMAX Melmetan:
Step 1: Link your Pokémon Go to your Pokémon Home
Step 2: Transfer any Pokémon from Go to Home
Step 3: Check your Gift Box, it'll probably be there on the first time you do this.
The Melmetan comes in Cherish Ball, LVL 100 and with GMAX Factor (if I remember correctly)
Hey melmetal and garbodor are cool! (I have neither I just like their designs)
I quite enjoy the gmax mechanic.
I want to point out that Blissey has a max hp stat of 714 and G max made that hp stat into 1071
As someone who enjoys the collectible aspect of Pokemon, it bugged me enough that there were temporary, battle-only forms. Mind you, this came about long before Mega Evolutions with stuff like Castform or Cherrim, but Gigantamax takes it to a whole other level. Not only is it exclusive to battle, but it's exclusive to specific areas at that. And what benefit does it grant? Raised HP (typical of both Gigantamax and Dynamax) and one exclusive move, that's it. No base stat changes, no Type changes, no Ability changes, no nothing.
Every other gmax pokemon: BIG. STRONG
The frog starter: fortnite players when they hear footsteps
