Buying Salvage Yard AUDI Parts To Fix My CHEAP Bentley

- I bought a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur, the 4 door super luxury version of the Continental GT. It came out of Florida, it was only $12,000, and all it needed was keys or the immobilizer replaced with one from a Cayenne... it turns out the keys work perfectly but there are missing parts, including the relay that turns on the ECU. Luckily that relay is the fuel pump relay from many VWs and Audis so I ordered one, and it didn’t work at all. Today we’re getting that relay replaced at any cost, the car might start after that!!

I'm just glad that the Bentley isn't complicated, because that would suck if it was.
Something about you going back to basics has made this channel a ton of fun to watch again
So happy you fixed the Jag but I’m really looking forward to seeing the Bentley com to life.
Next, the rolls 💪💪💪
Cheers mate
Come 🙄
@@benturton3358 A grammar felony was committed in a comment below. An unnecessary comma and your instead of you're was used. I'm gonna need you to go ahead and check every comment. If you can do that by 9, that would be great. M-kay
@@benturton3358 dude why are you wasting your time? There are flyers on telephone poles that need to be proofread.
I will always love seeing that seat control panel in a Bentley. I'm currently sitting in a passenger seat out of a VW Phaeton that I made into an office chair, with almost the exact same panel (just with slightly different looking buttons).
Those adjustments are extremely nice, aren't they? What a comfy seat. I'll never have another office chair without seat ventilation.
You got it wired up? That’s amazing! 😍
I was hoping you have a youtube video for it. New life goals!
Gotta see this. Make a video of it.
There are a lot of high end cars that are good for office chair duty only.
Good troubleshooting and research. I am glad you are having some good breaks getting the Bentley sorted. That is a lot of car and tech. Great content.
How the heck do you put out videos every day. You’re one of the most consistent content creators in the automotive community.
I'm so glad you fixed the Jag. It's such an elegante vehicle. Can't wait until you finish this Bentley.
Massive garage or not this is always some of the best car content on CZcams.
You got SO LUCKY at the yard ! You double checked the trunk and were like a kid on Xmas morning!
Good stuff man I bet she's ready to run!
Looking good and as ever you are nudging ever closer to a result. Nothing better than watching a JR video first thing in the (UK) morning whilst drinking my first cup of tea. Looking forward to hearing it run/drive.
Just having my first cup of coffee also in the UK and yes I’d like to see that Bentley run👍
Sitting in Newcastle doing the same!
Can't wait to see that thing cleaned up and looking pretty......obviously after it's running
I blew a 167 Relay on my Audi, exactly like that and it fit. However, a few of them I would notice online one of the pins was facing the wrong way...so I didn't buy it thinking it was for something else. I paid almost $80 for that relay at a TOPS parts store here in Orange County.
Edit: LOL we found the 167 at the same time when you have the camera back in the back of the r8. I'm like "There it is JR" right as you said "There it is!".
I was the same, I just saw the number just as he spotted it. Sometimes you find what you need at those U pull and Pay junkyards. I've done it in the cold like he was doing in this video too. Can get rather bone chilling cold with the wind and trying to get something off a smashed up car.
Luckily I can return the one with the pins flipped on it 💯
it was a A8 not r8
So I've owned an 06 A8 and an 09 Q7. Both V8 TDIs... In the Q7 one day it just wouldn't start. Trouble shooting I learned that kessy controls the steering lock and energizes Terminal 15... Which allows start! I checked terminal 15 relay and it was stuffed... Replaced it and hey presto, all going again...I vote Terminal 15. A generic one from a local auto electrician cost me about $20usd😉
Love the extra dog footage! 🐕
Best part was the end your dog 🐶🐕 🤣
Really looking forward to the next video John Ross, would love to see an extra long video on the Bentley? Iv been following your channel for a long time and from what I know of you I will be absolutely shocked if you don't fix this car. You are the most determined guy I know and you never quit. Hope luck stays with you John Ross 👍🙂👍
The journey may be tough, but the reward will put JR over the moon. Keep digging and we will keep watching.
Cool learning experience for all of us, including your dog. LOL
I didn’t expect a video tonight, very nice!
I hope you get it running soon. The weather up there seems about as Jekyll and Hyde as it has been here in OKC.
“Fixing a Bentley with parts from a pick-n-pull yard.”
Heck yeah
What could go wrong! Get it JR!
It is a car and a majority of cars eventually get scrapped.
Why not use perfectly fine parts to repair a vehicle that really isn't worth that much.
Hoovie repaired a Maybach using parts from a scrapyard and that vehicle, when new, cost much more than the Bentley.
Bloody brilliant for me. 🤣🤣
Pick your part parts are free if you can fit them in your pocket 🤣
Jr I love that you are a absolutely relentless when getting a car sorted. Lol you do not give up.
I feel like you’ve returned to your content style from a few years ago. I’ve been anxiously awaiting your new updates on this and the jag each day.
the electronic stuff is surprisingly interesting! totally get why there would be a crossover with consumer electronic enthusiasm
Great content 👌 love seeing you not give up
I love seeing this Bently coming back to life!
That was a great finding the relay in the trunk, keep after it its making great content, looking forward to the next reveal.
My new favorite channel! Can’t wait to see where the Bentley (my first name) restore goes!
Great video as always, can't wait to see the bentley start up. As a side note, dogs eat grass because they are lacking fiber in thier diet. Give that pup some fiber and the grass eating should stop.
A *Cheap* Bentley is never cheap sir 😅
I hope it runs for, your on a roll lately and it's great content and another really cool car. I have a 06, but it's a Charger RT, about the only similar thing is heated seats, but also a heavy pig 😅
I have an 06 with heated seats too (Chevy Impala), but I wouldn't dare compare them to a Bentley's lol.
Love the lkq hunt Mayne 🎉🎉
Great content. NEVER STOP.
I look forward to each of these videos!!!
John, you left us in the limbo hahaha :) im watching WatchJrGo more and more every day
Good job keep up the good work can't wait for the next video
Man... Was hoping that relay would fix it! Good luck chasing down the other relays!
another great video from JR. thanks
As I watch JR work on his Bentley, anyone else notice JR resembles Mr. Bentley from “The Jeffersons”?
Great content sans having a shop. Keep it up.
Such a cool car I love those brain teasers that you figure out that end up being cheap fixes always the cars I remember
My 1989 BMW 525i 5MT (E34 chassis) had a system that would adjust the height of the seatbelt when you (power) adjusted the head restraint, with spring tension to keep the pivot from flopping around. Neat idea, but like most power-operated things, it failed (manual seats FTW). And when it would no longer adjust, the seatbelt would ride on the edge of the trim, simultaneously grinding a groove into the trim piece and wearing out the seatbelt 🫤
Dude we've all been there so happy you found that part.
Awww cute doggo.
Made simple by a genius 👏 love your approach fascinating . can't wait too see you flexing in that yacht 👍
Love the puppy!
It sounds like Terminal 15 might be the switched ignition power line, ie, the 12V rail that comes up when the key is in the ignition and turned. A faulty relay could cause problems there. A short to ground on that line would likely blow a fuse...
Yup, deff seeing its ignition switch/relay from the book. Getting to that ignition is a whole issue by itself 😳
The BMW E38 7series from the mid 90s also had the upper seat tilt on the comfort seats.. ;) Great find on the relay!
Yayyy happy pupperz 😊❤️
JR leaving LKQ " yeah man i couldn't find what I needed but you can check my tool bag" haha
I wish… they charged $10 per relay, place is a mega ripoff 😥
@@WatchJRGo well you're more honest than I am. Anything that goes in the pocket is a discount since they charge ridiculous amounts for other stuff.
@@trcythmpsn Damn right. They charge you just to walk through my local yard, so I feel anything that's small enough to go in my pocket was paid for by my entry fee.
11:22 Look at that cute pupper!
FYI There are two small buttons on either side of the circular moon roof controller. They open the leather roof cover to expose the closed moon roof!!
Dierks Bentley! Let’s go!!!
Great video
Love you show, very entertaining
Wow, left me hanging. Bad JR....LOL
The 07 VW Touareg has the same seat control to move up and down the seatbelt and there’s three memory seat options on each driver and passenger side
I would also welcome a second channel called watch jr’s dog, lol. Glad you’re getting forward motion on the Bentley
When you held up that baggie. I thought you were going to say you found some "Fun" dust hidden in the dash.
I love Bentley continentals even though they are technological terrors 😂
don't worry you will have her running in no time. you can fix anything :3
Let's goooooooo Fuse 167 😂😂😂
My 2001 A8L adjusted the seat belt like that too
Nice episode on changing relays😂j/k not easy i know
I think in those auction places some people who likes a car remove that relay so it becomes a not starting car and keeps out interested buyers and sells for cheaper
More of this!
Bentley mechanic cures cancer!
Well there is enough highly qualified Master electricians in your life this should be a walk in the park lol
Baby steps. Baby steps. Getting there!
Amazing
How’s the house/shop hunting going?
I think the problem is the electronic ignition switch. It has to turn on terminal 15 / the relais.
Yes, something like that.
If you love the Jag you got to love this Bentley
Great video, beautiful dog.
I liked how the dog Photo Bombed the ending....look at mmmmeeeee......
@@samlyda7558 adorable
I live in Crewe, lots of spares used to be available for a very reasonable price 😂
My 1993 Lexus LS400 had electric seatbelt adjusters too!!
When I saw you walking in the salvage I thought “ ET call home”
Hey JR - if it goes you've got a cool car. If it doesn't, you got a really nice air conditioned porch.
Pyro fuse seems a good candidate…….if not check power to various control units at the plugs……if you feel adventurous grab an oscilloscope and look at the can communication.
I’ve got power across it (assuming I’m testing the right thing) 🍻
@@WatchJRGo next thing thereafter is checking power and communication lines to main drivetrain cool modules, an oscilloscope app and probe would do the job nicely there, typically bad components or modules will show dirty wave forms…..all you need to do is find up to what point they’re clean, lotsa vids around for that, highly recommended.
Stops that whole parts cannon rubbish……
Stick with it, we want to see that thing shine.
Congrats on the salvage yard find. Did you order a replacement relay in case the salvage part stops working? Spare parts can take up a lot of space but they can be oh so useful when needed.
I have that A8! Same color/interior in a 2008!
The beauty of fixing a Bentley is the abundance of junkyard audi parts that fit. 🤣
This reminds me of working on my Allroad.
My early morning watch here in the U.K. Coffee in hand WatchJRgo
I was disappointed at that audi then excited when you did find the relay lol
Cute dog!
I had a mercedes where the seatbelt adjusted automatically when you moved the seat. My bmw also has the shoulder area of the seat move
Solid 👌
167 is standard FP relay in lots of VAG range. Use an OE one as Meyle etc brand regularly fail.
great content, you dont need the shop.
Getting there 😀
Jr is blinded by the Bentley! Beautiful car. Contact with diagnose dan, he is a true digikal masturrrrrrr!
Can you change where the pin is in the fuse box?
Fuel - air - spark; that’s why I like old cars before all them fancy digicals took over.
2:43 Adventures in VAG life, as the MCM guys say.
I tried telling a friend of mine that I was impressed with your diagnostic skills and he tried to tell me that anyone that needs a computer to plug into a car is a wannabe mechanic because he supposedly in all of his infinite wisdom could build this thing and make it start and run great without reading any of those trouble codes and without a service manual, simply because he thinks he's a genius. I'm extremely curious to see how much it takes to get this thing working
Bentley Diagnostics - the Relay race is on now. 🙂
6:39 he put that relay in his pocket🤣🤣🤣
My 2002 Lexus LS430 has a electric adjuster for the seatbelt height on the door, same as a Bently.
