      The Supremes were the total package without Diana. This song and “Stoned Love” proves it.

    • @samthesham5294
      @samthesham5294 Před 4 lety +5

      Motown originally tried to mold Jean into a glamour Soul ful Diana Ross sans the wigs Place in the middle or far right or Left She Was the Main Lead and Gave the Supremes a more Soulful image and a few Solid gems like Stoned Love..Everybody's Got the right to love(Forgotten gem, and Up the Latter). Gordy at this time was more focus on Diana solo career so he could give a hoot.Jean was Jean not Diana"she didn't want to be Diana. she had her on voice style was Stubborn wouldn't listen to Gordy who Found her)and more of a Lead singer. Mary became a co lead but didn't feel comfortable being Lead having spent many.years singing Background and told by Gordy "oh Mary you know you cant sing" (Mary said this in her book Dreamgirls)

      You can’t disrespect Miss Ross. Miss Ross career speaks for itself. !how many number 1 hit records did The Supremes have after Diana Ross left the group? I’ll wait!

    I loved this version of the Supremes, the product lacked in quality between mid 1967 to the end of 1969. Jean Terrell brought back the Supremes A-Game. This extended version is fantastic, loved the pics. P.S. Mary Wilson is triple HOT HOT HOT.

    Ms. Jean Terrell made her debut, I was in MS in 1972! When I first heard this song, it was
    different from all the other early Supremes recordings?

    take me when you run...... up the ladder to the sky..... that sets us free....... to be..... what we look for ..... to be.....closer.....to what loves us....... and sees us as we are..... free to be what we were created to be..... in the eyes of the one that wanted us to be ... whom we were made to be.....that sees us and holds us ... until we are set free..... finally... to be what we were created .... to be.......take me to the roof top so that I can touch the sky that will set me free.. . to be held in the arms of the almighty...... that is the love we have looked for to save us.... and make us what we always were... in his eyes.... FREE.....
