All the lessons of you channel are very informative.
I want to suggest that there is no dimensions mentioned about bilge keel (i.e, till what thickness bilge keel has to be and till what depth it has to be in ocean)
expect about the length that has to be made.

Excellent videos, in 6 degrees of motion, you related linear motion with rotational motion, in that i think for the swaying you related it with pitching, but feels like it should be related with yawing, and the one with heaving should be with pitching, just asking because i am just a cadet appearing for exams so was confused at that part!

in case of bile keel it is one third of ships length amid ships and not half the length of ship

Sir very informative and useful for exams. But one doubt : surging is related to pitching (both are longitudinal) and swaying is related to rolling right (both are tranverse)

Hi pls correct me if I’m wrong, I’m a little confuse between strake and plate.
Strake is part of the outer shell and what’s above it is the plate correct ?
So you’d have the keel strake, adjacent to it is the garboord strake
Then above the keel strake is the keel plate, and adjacent to it, is the shoe plate/ coffin plate.
Is this correct ? Thank you !

The Hull of a ship is a hollow body enclosed by Plating (side shell plating, bottom shell plating, Deck plating).
We all know what we mean by plate. It is a rectangular shape steel with certain thickness.
Number of plates put up together usually
in the longitudinal direction make up a Strake,
      (eg-Sheer Strake,Stringer Strake/plate etc)
eg-Sheer strake is made up of numerous side shell plates
      in longitudinal direction.
In naval architecture and ship construction each of these plate has an identification. These are numbered in certain pattern.
The plates are identified by a letter and a number. Each plate is given a letter in the vertical direction starting with A from the bottom.
Each plate is given a number in the horizontal direction starting from aft.
Each section of the plate placed in fore and aft direction is called a “strake”.
It is the shell expansion plan where the numbering of
plates and lettering of plate strakes are used for
reference purposes. Hope this Clears your doubt.

Dear nihal, your videos are such a great help, but could you confirm on the rotational motion part where I suppose rotational motion of swaying is rolling and for surging it's pitching.
Thanks again, keep up the good work

    • @NihalGupta
      @NihalGupta  Před 6 lety +1

      Varun Vasudevan Pillai
For swaying the rotation motion would be Pitching for sure .
And for Surging the rotation motion would be Rolling.
      100%sure on this.
