I’m a pirates fan but I wish we could play you every game if we have games like this. You guys are legit. Hope to see you guys in the World Series against us
Saturday was a fun game to attend on Saturday, and Sunday’s was tough to hear on the radio driving home. Either way, it was nuts to see so much orange around the city!
I think the biggest problem right now is Hays. He didn't hit much in the second half of last season and he's not hitting at all this season. Doesn't really matter how good his defense is, there's no reason to keep him in the lineup, even against lefties, unless he starts hitting. Also Gunnar needs to clean up his defense. Wells gives up way too many long balls so I don't know if he can be a good reliever. At this point, I think Baumann and Baker need to switch places. I don't even know if Baker is pitching well but he couldn't be worse than Baumann.
I went to Saturday's game and we left when the bases got loaded with zero outs. Didn't think they'd get out of it but knew they wouldn't survive extras anyway with how things were going
we've gotta learn to start working counts and get more disciplined. This lineup needs help if we're serious about beating playoff pitching

Better bullpen management and they would have swept. Should have brought Danny in to begin with Saturday, and Sunday there was no reason to take Akin out.

For the mailbag: I feel that we are still missing another good bullpen arm. Do you still believe Orioles will get a reliever at some point this season? If so, when do you think that will happen and who are the potencial options you think it’s realistic for the O’s to go get?
Update: seems Marlins could be fire selling soon. So I think if you are the Orioles you want to beat another teams perusing Marlins players. So anyone there who sound interesting for you Connor?
And this is the easy part of our schedule. Lol. We's in trouble.lol
The Orioles will need bullpen help at some point this year, but they may have internal options. IF Means and Bradish both return to the rotation, then an option could be Wells into relief which could really help. And Irvin might be ok as a multi inning guy out of the pen. I also still think Wandisson Charles could be a real sleeper this year.

The O's blow 2 games and people are panicking already. It happens. The sign of a good team is when a lot of players are slumping, they're still right in every game. The only concern is they don't have as many good pitchers on the way up, but it seems like the obvious solution is to start trading some of the minor league guys who we don't have room for.
People arnt panicking, they just see what you don't. Take off your rose colored glasses. Henderson is way overrated. Hyde loves Hays, Urias and Mateo too much. Mullins is washed and Hyde had no business using our good relievers Friday with a 5-2 lead. They got used for a second time Saturday when it should have been for the first time. Then they weren't available for Sunday. Dude cost us the series. Terrible. No reason for it
@@billymartin5657 We're 9 games in. Despite having a bad series against the pirates, Henderson is 3rd on the team in total bases. If you think a 9 game sample size is enough to draw any conclusions, then you must be really good at hand waving when someone asks you about how the 2023 Ranger's regular season went.

The defensive capabilities of the O's subpar hitters are key to winning many games. Watching the series highlights, it's clear this is a skill level Pittsburgh lacks. The contributions of these players shouldn't be underestimated.
I share your concern about Hays. "He plays a great left field" is starting to be annoying in the sense that not only isn't he hitting, but it's soft contact and rally killers. He may play a good LF but his hitting is awful so far. He has an option and there are guys in Norfolk crushing the ball. Maybe he needs a reset. On another note, they have trouble against LH pitching, maybe it's Norby time.
My biggest hope is once we get to baseball weather the defense and hitting will come back around. Pitching has been good enough to win.

What would be the impact if teams could carry one more pitcher? Two more? Better game? Worse? Different? Fewer Tommy John surgeries?
Connor does about as good of a job with the facts as can be done............love to see him with a partner, but i guess that would be more of a "show" than a Podcast of facts. Either way, the young man brings the facts!
Game 2 was certainly on Hyde. No reason to have Bauman start the 10th after we took the lead, do not want to hear the right vs right as I would prefer good vs bad, Coloumbe is good and Bauman is bad. Then I have no idea why you pitch to Cruz with a runner on 2nd and 1 out. He has been hitting the ball hard almost every at bat, his run means nothing and walking him sets up a possible double play.

I never trusted Baumann at all. His stuff isn’t nasty enough and he has control issues. Cano only is effective when he is ahead of the count and Kimbrel is very average. I would rather bring up a minor league guy and try them.

I don't think that should have been ruled a throwing error on kramer. He's trying to turn a double play there that should be the shortstops ball there not the second baseman. Kramer threw to the shortstop side of second base but Gunner was nowhere to be found. I think he threw to second base and neither of them covered and at the last second Mateo tried to cover but couldn't reach the throw on the shortstop side of the bag. The second baseman should not be making a blind throw to first base. That is the shortstop's ball all the way

You're not gonna win many games scoring two runs. We won a game or two against KC that we probably shouldn't have, so it all evens out. Hays has to go.

Four save opportunities so far this year. Three blown saves. Not a formula for success. Talk all you want about the bullpen doing good things. But with a good bullpen they have 3 more wins. No team wins the world series let alone gets in the playoffs win a pen that blows 75% of the save opportunities with which they are presented. Unless things turn around in the closer role we're in for a . 500 season at best. Take away the 30 plus wins directly attributed to Felix and you're not even getting to seventy wins
