    I was an Adventist, pastor, and teacher for over 30 years. It was all about sister White until I studied her books seriously and discovered that she plagiarized her contemporary and past authors when I decided to leave. Ms. White copied other writers even in what she barricaded with, "Said the angel", "My accompanying angel said", " God says", etc. Besides, she contradicted the Bible and herself so much!!

It appears all creeds are in apostasy, and those who want to follow The Way are learning how to do so they'd scripture, personal revelation and are learning that we've trusted in the arm of flesh and instutions when we should have only followed God. There is certainly a lot here. But to the host: Assuming that you are still in full custody of your daughter(s), I find it baffling that you send them to SDA schools given your views. I am judging you a little bit.

    • @SDAQandA
      @SDAQandA  Před 20 dny +8

      Not baffling and NOT my first choice. But here’s why. And firstly, only one of my (my wife and I’s) two daughters goes to the local adventist school. The other one is home schooled and follows the Montessori curriculum online. It’s amazing! I’d recommend it to anyone! My eldest daughter (11) didn’t want to home school and is part of a mothers group (my wife and her formers formed when they and their daughters all had their babies - at around the same time!). This group of maybe 6-10 mothers aren’t SDA and they hang out all the time, they and the girls. They also all send their daughters, mine too, to the local SDA school. They are like a ‘pack’ lol. Anyway. I’m Australia, we can only send out kids to schools in our zone. That gave us two options. One, the local Gov school, which we really didn’t like and secondly, the local Adventist school. Which, apart from the doctrines, has an Incredible facility with very very good teachers and resources. The teachers are very ‘secular’ minded and focus on education and not Ellen. Also, approx (I’m told) 75% of the students are non sda. My only complaint is when the traveling week of prayer preachers show up. My daughter needs some de-briefing after those :)

      Better understanding now to why you send your daughter to sda school. They are (sda) probably only in business because of the non sda customers. Like in us a lot of people send their kids to catholic schools here. The parents are not concerned about religion. Just school recognition

    43:47 "Copying his errors" is a facile description that does not carefully review her work. From the quality of her handwriting, one can see that she did the work of CONDENSING the chapter (as she described in the Author's Preface written in 1888) rapidly. Nonetheless, she avoids Wylie's mistakes and the key passage in McAdams' paper that occurs in a general description of Interdict that noted Huss historian Spinka made in the very same context. The key issue that McAdams missed (and I do not blame him for getting tired of the subject) is that Huss himself described three departures from Prague, and these do line up with Ellen White's description in the chapter. Even Wylie was unaware of this historical fact, but lay-writer Ellen White got it right. I describe Ron Graybill and my reconstruction of these facts in the paper.

      You have great faith in EGW; you believe her every word because you're an Adventist ' and the SDA church is founded on the Beliefs and teachings of EGW; therefore, no non-sda's expect a current Adventist to believe anything TRUE of EGW even if it comes from a FORMER SDA; A FORMER EGW BELIEVER!
      The evidence is out there: Online and in Her Own published works. As a PLAGIARIST - taking someone's work - intellectual property - and passing it off as her own, constitutes STEALING! EGW engaged in STEALING OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK. WHICH one of God's prophets engaged in stealing other's words? The LAW of the OT says: "THOU SHALT NOT STEAL;" This Commandment was among the Commandments that Christ repeated (Matt. 19:18) Her own words regarding Black people (I've read it Online - and the sources, her writings are quoted) shows that she has also broken the Law of LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOUR!
      Think! Would God TELL Ellen that two people who were believers in Christ - and loved each other - should not marry because of differences in colour? Even when those two people wanted to? If Ellen White was RIGHT in EVERYTHING she said and did then that makes GOD a LIAR and one who CONTRADICTS HIS VERY OWN WORDS! SDA'S can't have it both ways!
      What you have quoted above was Ellen's way of crushing ALL opposition to the power and control she exerted over her church in her time. She rephrased and reframed the Word of God at will to benefit her not ever thinking that these words were as much for her as for the people - her believers, her church - which she wrote it for. Christ told His disciples: "For there shall arise false Christs, and FALSE PROPHETS and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they SHALL DECEIVE THE VERY ELECT!" (Matt. 24:24)
      What you've done there is what Current Adventists do to all Former Adventists who choose to show up Ellen G. White for the FALSE PROPHET she was! Her so-called "prophecies from God," NEVER CAME TO PASS - so what does that make God if EGW really was God's messenger? 🤔🤔🤔

    The number one reason that SDA exists , is Miller never listen to Jesus in Matthew 24:15. The math equation from Ezra chapter 7 verse 9 to 1844 in the fall cannot be done with 2300. No one in SDA can interpret Daniel 8!!! That creates a false Jesus!. Right there is the Crux of SDA! Because that creates an investigative judgment. Then a vision from Ellen claiming the Sabbath is more important than Jesus ..now you've got the whole thing in a bowl of Wax! I've got 4000 speaking to these people in the last year. 4,000 hours absolutely nothing they say. Surprises me .and it's always the same thing!. They try to represent themselves spiritual .but break the 9th commandment..Every time they speak.Technically Jesus is not God! They do not know what salvation is! I hear a musing, on your part, on several videos about how progressive Adventists cling to Ellen White as much as traditional Adventists. I read an observation on the part of Alden Thompson that seems applicable, though it is discussing the tension between fundamentalist Adventists and non-fundamentalists. "An older generation of Adventists was taught that we ARE Fundamentalists. That has set up an unfortunate tension between generations. Actually reading Ellen White's writings could help resolve that tension" (Escape from the Flames, p. 26). The point is that both groups of Adventists find either an "anchor" or "balance" in Ellen White's writings because, without a doubt, she, as a person, was not the caricature that people have made her to be. The nuance of her writings can be seen as either STRUCTURE or as COMFORT. They contain both, so both groups of people appreciate her writings.

      It's hard for genuine Christians to "appreciate" the writings of someone who claimed -- without confirmation or ratification of any kind -- to have been bestowed agency conferred by the Lord God, and -- a fortiori -- who taught a false "gospel" of salvation by works in every known writing and on every known occasion recorded for posterity.

      @@jamesandres6312 To the first part of your post: I would suggest you dive into the process of confirmation and ratification that Ellen Harmon underwent. A good source on that is Theodore Levterov's doctoral thesis. To the second part: It seems to me, after having accepted the gospel under Evangelism Explosion in the 1970s, studied theology in college, and discussed the topic online with many former Adventists, that the key issue with Ellen White about the gospel has to do with the simplified gospel versus the fuller concept of the gospel in the NT--particularly through the teachings of Jesus and the concepts of Paul in Romans 6 to 8.

      @@jamesandres6312 I don't know what happened to my earlier response, for it seems to have disappeared. Nonetheless, if you would review the historical evidence that I suggested, you will see that Ellen G. White, née Harmon, was subjected to various tests before her gift was accepted. As to "objective," the only objective test that could be applied are those of Scripture. Repeatedly, the early Adventists who accepted her gift referred to the biblical tests that they applied to her life and messages to vet her credibility. What we find, in every example that I have reviewed, is that people invent tests to flunk her that also flunk biblical prophets. Quite obviously if their particular "tests" flunk a biblical prophet, then those "tests" are misguided.

      @@kevinmorgan8782 Yes, CZcams sometimes makes life difficult. I’m disappointed but not surprised by your reply. It reduces to the contention that Ellen White’s interpretation of scripture is consistent with scripture as interpreted by Ellen White, which those of you who believe Ellen White’s claim of divine agency naturally and invariably consider to be sufficient reason to believe that she was divinely guided, and therefore that her interpretation of scripture was correct.
      Do you see the problem?
      I asked for an example of a divine communication that rationally and objectively supports Ellen White’s claim of divine agency. I don’t see how there could be any other ground on which to conclude that anything she said or wrote was more or less reliable than what anyone else has said or written. Anyone can claim agency, but common sense tells you a person cannot create agency by merely claiming to have it.
      And, needles to say, Ellen White’s false gospel of salvation by works rules out the possibility that she was divinely guided for those of us who interpret scripture in accordance with generally accepted principles of hermeneutics.
