  • On today's video we take a close look at the KSUN X-TFSI VS:M6 a stubby and stout little 80 channel UHF ONLY radio, we examine it it in close detail and take it out on site with 2 other similar sets to see how it performs over 3 and 6 miles.
    This radio was purchased by me with no interaction for the manufacturer and all opinions are unbiased and my own.

    Based on the website you have listed below:
    So it looks like the max is 22 channel, and not 80 channel. maybe 80ch no longer available. That's too bad I really wanted the 80channel. Othe than that seems like a legit radio. Thanks for editing and posting your videos.

    I am planning to use these on PMR446 in low power mode. I see the programming software seems to have a PMR446 dropdown 'PMR 446 Set' in the top right. It also has a padlock. Do you know if selecting this will lock the radio to PMR only? I guess I could just program in the 20 channels by hand but just curious on your experience. thanks

    Hello @knoxieman, I just ordered a pair of these since my old set of PMR446 radios bit the dust after 15 years of using them. I wonder if you still have your pair and if you managed to get them working with CHIRP. As of today (19.02.2023), the KSUN M6 is still not listed in the supported devices.
    I'm interested in this because I'd like to test out setting the radios to high TX transmit power on PMR446 frequencies (I'm not planning to use the feature, just wondering if that's possible in case the legislation in my country - Czech republic - changes).
    Maybe it's even supported via the software provided by the manufacturer. Did you get this specific setting to work?
    Thanks for the cool video!

    Hi @knoxieman. Great review of these little KSUNs. Could I ask for your help in getting the programming software to read my walkie talkie? I'm actually trying to program a KSUN X30-TFSI which I think was the X6's predecessor. However, after plugging in the programming cable and waiting for the driver to install (it chose the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port driver), the system assigned Comm Port 3 and when I select that port in the software you kindly provided, then click 'Read' all I get is a pop-up window saying "Communication error!". I using a Windows 7 laptop as I was told by the vendor that this is the only OS the software would work on, but I've tried it on Windows 10 and XP Pro as well with the same results. Any advice would be gratefully received! Cheers

    • @knoxieman
      @knoxieman  Před rokem

      Hi, go to the miklor website, go to the drivers section and read the part about prolific drivers, you need to download the old driver off the link there and install it on your pc, check in device manager it's using the old driver, you might also have to re boot first, this should fix the problem, every time Windows does an update it will change it back though so next time you program the radio you may have to do it again first, if you have lots of different radios and you use chirp to program them by a 2 pin mic ear cable then pay a bit more money for an FTDI chipset cable, you won't have this issue then, hope that this helps, sorry I can't put html links in here or the comment gets deleted.
