I would still love to see Tomb Raider: Ascension become a reality in the future. It could be a standalone, alternate universe type of deal. I think a survival horror take on Tomb Raider would be really fresh and interesting for fans and non-fans alike, and I definitely think it'd garner a lot of attention. The original (Core Design) Tomb Raider games definitely weren't strangers to fantastical elements. While I appreciate the super gritty and realistic take on Tomb Raider (2013), I still just think a scarier, fantastical take on it would be super interesting to see and play!

TR 2013 and Shadow had some really creepy horror moments, so I'd love to see a full-blown survival horror version of Tomb Raider. With the reboot trilogy finished, they might be looking for a new take on the franchise and this sounds like a great opportunity, what with the success of RE going back to horror.

They released another universe tomb raider games like twice along side the reboot. So they're not out of the question to make new out of universe Tomb Raider games. I don't know how the last game ended, but if they wanted to they could put lora on an island like that. Hell be extra scary if she went into a mirror that took her to another world. Third Person Open World Sandbox Survival Action Horror. Make it insanely fish out of water along with a few people in there that were brought in through the mirror through various points in time. This could work well. Problem we have games like that already in development and already made. So if they made it they'll have to find a balance to set the game apart from others.
or not make it some big budget game and have it as a spin off. BotW, but Lora Croft. -_- damn there's a lot of those popping up too.

I totally forgot about being hyped for this game when it was announced, with the tech we have today we could totally do the original concept the justice it probably couldn't have fulfilled back then. The idea of moments of action in escaping the government interspersed with a cross country roadtrip in which your actions impact how the alien sees you and eventually nets one of several endings would be an incredibly interesting one. Sort of like the Social Links from Persona only more dynamic and with one person.
I want an ending where you escape with the alien via ship to explore the stars since you'd inevitably be hunted down by the government for helping her even if she escaped.

Not widely known, but there was an article I read years after the cancelation that had a response from the publisher, or maybe ex employees, and revealed what happened. They made a surprise visit to the developer, and it turned out the trailer, that convinced even the publisher that it was real game play footage, was actually just really convincing bullshot. Fake. It quickly became clear that the development studio wasn't even close to pulling off what they and the publisher promised the game could do or look like, and it was clearly never going to happen with this studio. The publisher was so pissed at the deception and how much money they were losing on this, that they immediately canceled the game and closed the studio. No idea why they kept that a secret. Probably should have just told the public what happened.

The day they turn Tomb Raider in to a horror game or some crazy, open world fantasy game, that's the day I stop playing. I personally find Uncharted better than Tomb Raider anyway, but I still liked the new games. They're grounded and real, and Lara is just a bad ass treasure hunter. Her enemies (most of them) are just humans (rival treasure hunters, random island dwellers, etc), and then some animals. That's all it should be. So I'm glad someone at the studio wised up and said, "hey, this isn't what Tomb Raider was evolving to become."
