Update on our find. To all those concerned about how I dug them. Not one of those coins got the slightest scratch to them. I could see what I was doing, difficult to believe maybe. The coins were duly deposited with the authorities under the UKs Treasure finds process. After one year away under the care of the British Museum It was decided that they wouldn't be purchased for the nation because there were already sufficient hoards found of these particular coins. They were duly returned to us and we were allowed to sell them to a dealer which then enabled us to give 50% of the value raised to the farmer who owned the land where they were found. These coins were buried in the ground some 2000 years ago either for safe keeping or as an offering to the gods.
Great video and thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what this hoard became known as and which dealer you sold them to please. I have a feeling I may now be in the possession of 2 of them and it would be nice to confirm this.
Huge thanks, Matt
Lovey finds...you are very lucky and you said you had others a day or two before 😀 great video too. Can you tell me I use an explorer 2 what program do you run if you dont mind sharing and is that the 12x15 sef coil.. that's what I use. Its heavy work I have no bungee and the built In sunray probe too so extra graft on my poor arm 😬
Nice find of a hoard just slightly older than the finders :)
Great Find, Those Pin Pointers come in handy.
Nice movie best regards from Joop Holland.
I do my hobby metal detecting almost 45 years.

Hello Stuart, these coins were taken by the the local FLO " Finds liaison officer " these coins were finally given back to the finders / land owners to basically do what they want with, these specific group of coins were not want by the Crown estate / Museum, best regards mrix
Great vid
And a even greater detector
Did not knew Anthony Hopkins actually is a detectorist
I would have dug deeper away from the target and worked from below letting them fall back to the low area.
Great video.
Good job lads nice find
Great find well done :-)
Fantastic video guys! Thanks for posting it and congratulations finding it as well.
I always wonder about what the circumstances were for the person to bury the coins and what happened to them.!
Nice finds
very nice indeed :)
i watched this the other day,,,,,WOW
stunning
very very good saludos from
argentine
very cool!
I’m surprised the archaeologists didn’t get involved.
I HOPE U GUYS GET TO KEEP THEM?
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH
In Australia you would never stick your hand in the soil like that without gloves god awful thing bite you over here
Back then silver was currency and gold was for jewelry that’s why you don’t find that many gold coins that are really really old
wow, what a find! Makes you wonder what happened that, that so many were strewed all over that area.
+Connie Bocsik often they are buried in pots or buckets ,and then the plough can catch it and scatter them, or they could of been wrapped in something, and what ever they were wrapped in has rotted away. this field could of used to be a settlement/village
i often wonder how so many coins are in one spot and how in there day would they be worth? but hey great vid
Nice finds, cant help but cringe slightly over the way they were recovered though
I guess if such a fine stuff may been deserve an archaeological dig...
it puzzles me as to why coins are buried in the middle of a field?
+Graham Waddell Because that bit of land probably wasn't allways just a field, it was probably an old settlement, and that was probably someone hut/house where they are digging
A lot can happen to the lay of the land in 2000 years.
Cos they never had a high street bank. Does your carer know you got access to the internet
use the pro point
Very Nice
.I subbed ya!..GL..HH dirtbandit33.
cracking finds...you need to learn how to dig up finds tho mate...you would have been better off digging them up with a pick and shovel...surprised they arent all buggered..!!!
per fortuna che ci sono i pivelli
Bei aller Freude über den Fund: SO geht man da nicht vor. Schaufel fallen lassen und den Archäologen rufen. Bier Aufmachen und neben dem Loch sitzen. Reinhacken geht Gar
