Every gereration geht's more hp, and more control. But better? The nicest one is the one that still has hydrolic steering assist. I can't believe they've ditched that. When I drive sportishly in a modern Porsche I freaking hate feeling I am steering digital. Mosly because the rest is so good. But the best?
Not even the most fun Porsche. A Boxer S 6 cilinder is so much more fun.

The 993 driver had the most skill. The way it launched better then the autos is nuts.
The 996 and the 997.1 had the slow tipronic automatic
manuals are faster to launch when done correctly as you use both feet while with auto you tend to only use 1 foot. Manual: left foot on clutch right foot on accelerator and then bump the clutch, auto: right foot on brake transferred to accelerator

@@caidee They come across more like an engineering and performance champion rather than a sleek sexy or radical design. For example, I love the 720s, the way it looks and drives and goes like stink, and it's the first poster I would put on my wall, but I would buy the 992 first because I would trust it to be absolutely great every day and not be troublesome.

@@jadamsnz I mean it depends, generationally you could look at V12 Ferraris/Lamborghinis through the years, and the V8s. On the less numerous generations side of things, they've already done the RS6, so maybe an all M5 or something-class AMG race. An all MX-5 race could work, so could an all Jaguar D/E/F-type race. There are so many I want to see

Absolutely loved this vid. Porsche is my favorite brand. As for more generation races, something that goes back to at least the 70s, so Mustang and Corvette for sure.

Epic!! The 992 is just stupid fast. However, that 997 still doing sub 11s is flat out amazing. As for looks, I’d take that 993 all day.
Yeah, i always loved the 997 especially since it was my main car in Need for Speed during my childhood haha, im super happy that it performs so well!

My dream car has always been the 959 supercar. And to me, the 993 Turbo is the budget friendly version of that.
It comes from the air cooled, analog era, but it has the clever 4wd system, an aluminium multilink rear suspension, and things like ABS and airbags.
However, the 993 looks better than the 959, and you can daily it with lots of miles. Parts are available and very affordable, compared to the 959.
I personally can't decide between the 964 and the 993. They are very similar but with subtle differences; the 964 has that iconic, oldskool, chonky bodywork and whale-tail spoiler, whereas the 993 takes those cues and makes them a little more curvy and streamlined. Thank you CarWOW 🙌

If you love Porsche's go to your nearest "Porsche Experience". I went to the one in Atlanta and had an amazing time. Drove and raced around in 992 Turbo S and Taycan Turbo S.

@TheMaster_5209 Yeah bro you'll love it. You get to do slalom, road course, skidpad test, launch control and wet pad. You have choice of what car or cars you want to experience. I chose to do the Taycan Turbo S/911 Turbo S combo. You got cars like the 911 GT3, Panamera Turbo, Cayenne, etc.. you can choose from. You do 1 car you get 1 1/2 hours with it. 2 cars its split 45 min each.
The driver of the older Porsches were probably having more fun. Acceleration is fun but is very 1-dimensional, especially with an automatic transmission.
The 996 with remap, exhaust work and air flow is still pertinent if you get it done. D.M.S automotive will do the lot for around 2K and it will be a missile that will stun new variants. I had mine mapped to a safe 670 bhp with 700nm torque. Wish i still had it, the newer one lacks so much character and is a GT rather than a sports coupe. Viva 996

Seeing them all lined up one can appreciate the beauty of the older cars.
Regulations and safety dont make cars good looking but you have to give it to porsche how they keep making them so much quicker but still keep the same design with the flat 6 in the back
Each generation gets even bigger, heavier and full of more unnecessary motors and toys.
I don't think I'll appreciate this years 911 for at least 10 years until the next generation abominations are being produced, probably with 2500kg, 23" rims, 3000bhp and self opening doors.
Compare the size of a normal 964 Carrera vs a new Carrera 2. The new cars are huge.

@@robertely686 every cars get bigger and heavier were you been the las 20 years? Porsche is the only proper driver's car that keep making Lighweights manual editions of any 911. And the only one that want to keep the ICE engine, GT3's is the best you can have today for the track.

I loved my 996 Turbo 6 speed car. Still one of my favorites.
Shame they didn’t use a 6 speed for this. It’s nearly a full second quicker over the 1/4 mile
Only one I could afford at the moment would be the 996 or 997. Either one of those cars with a little tweaking can turn them into a whole different beast👌 The older I get, the more I appreciate Porsche👏

yep! thats why the 997 is considered the "Modern Classic" and will be the next collectable (if it hasn't started already). Best of both worlds! Plus you can get the turbo in a stick!

The car I'm most impressed by, is the 997 Turbo S, considering how much less power it has than the 991, those two were extremely close.

You can really tell how much the 997.2 Turbo S was ahead of his game back in the day - sams as the 992 is nowadays.
Just imagine it’s a 1/4 car with 10.9s in 2010.. I really love the 997.2 but went for a 991.2, the drivability is on another level

Having the 997 and 991 be Turbo S models, and the 996 be a tiptronic, kinda skewed that end of the spectrum, but the step from 996 to 997 was probably one of the bigger ones in the car's history.

Nah I don’t see it beating the 991, impossible. I’ve roll raced a 997 turbo, 991 turbo s and 992 turbo s in my 992 C2S and I can tell you there’s no way.

Ya they have massive mufflers. If they get straight piped, they are the loudest cars ever. Flat 6’s make crazy noise👌
If you put a nice exhaust they sound litteraly Incredible. The classic Rowl of the Aircooled is one of the best sound, just need a exhaust.
These cars are for more sophisticated people, who like the performance, the comfort, the styling and the speed. Noise is just noise, not performance. Sometimes is good, but not everytime.
@@luisnabais Nah, whomever owns a 911 and has the slightest passion for racing will slap on an exhaust. Exhausts do help with performance and noise is one of the most exciting things about having a nice car and engine. Sophisticated owners are usually the boring dentists and lawyers.

The most reliable sports car out there , both the regular 911 and the 911 turbo . No other brand of super sports car can match the reliability of these cars . The acceleration of the last 911 turbo is still one of the fastest . Porsche will come next year with completely new and revolutionary designed turbos, which pick up even faster and deliver even more power than the current ones. I think that the 911 turbo built in 2023 will be the sports car with combustion engine to beat in terms of acceleration.
they won’t change the 992 until like 2024, it’s so great already it would be hard to create something better in such a short time frame.

Huge Porsche 911 fan, and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. But it would probably be the 930 or 964 but I love them all, 993's are cool because they stick out in a very early 90's way, 996, the one none wants is still cool as well! There was a 996 Carrera S for sale here for just 20000€ or slightly below a few years ago, if only I had been in a position to strike, I would have in a heartbeat, it was blue.
Was waiting for my father sometime mid 90's, an old couple come walking by heading for their garage behind me. They open the doors and inside sits a stunning all black 930 Turbo, will never forget that! They backed it out and drove off... They where probably easily in their late 60's or maybe even 70's if I recall, pretty awesome! :D Might been owned from new, I will never know.
Thinking about it, I think Becky's 930 is the winner, it might not be the fastest of the bunch, but yeah, best looking... and thats hard for me to say, such a Porsche fan, I love em all too much! xD

930 Turbo without hesitation. All of the others I see almost weekly. GT3, GT2 with massive wings and such. But the 930 is so integrated from tail to fender flairs. Far from perfect, the 930 for long time Porsche fans is so cool and raw.

Loved this! I am a rare one that really likes the 996. Kind of wish Matt’s 996 example wasn’t a tip so it could compare closer to the 993 and 964. The 997-992 are on different levels with their gearboxes. Great race! One of my favorites, if not my favorite.

911 is my favourite car ever, doesn't matter what year. Though if I had to pick one, it would be the 911 classic they made, top gear had one on. That was the old school looks with modern-day tech. A dream.
Hello Carwow people. Great and fascinating races. Loved the air coolers as usual, was sort of biased for the 996 as we have a ‘04 C2S with X51 everything at home. The water coolers all sounded strangled. Are you sure all those switchable mufflers were set loud? The din we get while flogging down a straight is like the soundtrack in the Le Mans movie. Great fun and thanks.
It is honestly crazy that the 997 does a quarter mile in less than 11 seconds, it is still as fast as modern super cars while having much less power than those.
And equally impressively, the car lost no performance at all after a decade. It was routinely tested to do 10.9-11.0 back in 2011, and the regular turbo with 30hp less 11.0-11.1 usually.
i remember when it came out. its actually 997.2. first one with PDK. much faster than regular 997.
And 997.2 turbo s can hit 0-100 km/h in 2.7-2.8 seconds in reality. For 12 year old car it is amazing.
