I’m a sixty year old man and I get tears when I hear these songs. No longer with the love of my life after thirty years. These songs make more sense now than they did when I was younger. If I ever find love again, I’ll hold her a little tighter and love more deeply.
Good luck buddy, I’ve been with my hubby for 25 years and I wish you the same happiness 😉
Yeah, I was only with mine for 18 years, but this song resonated with me when I heard it after we were married...
"You Decorated My Life" and "Through the Years" are other great songs by him!
Excellent recommendations!
Through the Years is definitely a top choice.
Oh, they've reacted to Through the Years already: czcams.com/video/dX484GA4YsM/video.html X)
@@xzonia1 Oops that's right
@@xzonia1 Oops!! Totally forgot! Thank you :)
This song is about a musician playing gigs and trying to make his dreams of becoming a paid artist come true. He is thankful for his woman who believes in him even more than he believes in himself. It's very loving and touching! Thanks as always RSR! ❤
Indeed. That's how I see it.
Better with the first edition
I am a writer, but this song resonates so much with me as my better half is so supportive of me. I hope that one day I can repay her faith, much like the lyrics of this song.
This is the country rendition of Kiss's "Beth".
Best way to describe Kenny…a storyteller where you feel deep down the story
I recommend "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town"... Written by the late Mel Tillis, Father of Pam Tillis. It has been covered by many artists. Waylon Jennings recorded it first, and even Mel came back and recorded it too. The song was based on a true story..
An oldie but a goodie. :) Have they done Coward Of The County yet? Another great story song sung by Kenny.
@@xzonia1 Yes, they did it about a month ago. and I agree, it is a great song too.
When he says "God our love is true", I just can't help but start to cry. I am 68 now and I look back and remember my daughters and how much their mother and they meant in my life. I just start to cry, every time.
I'm crying just reading your comment
Pretty sure it's _God, _*_her_*_ love is true,_ which is even more impactful.
@@rollomaughfling380 Yeah, you are probably right.
You now need to hear Don Williams sing " I Believe In You". He is so smooth.
Don Williams was a great Country superstar.
Try Don Williams with Keith Urban singing Imagine that.❤️❤️❤️
YES!!!!
Kenny Rogers Song suggestions: "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town," "Love Or Something Like It," "Love Will Turn You Around," "Through The Years," "Lucille," "Sweet Music Man," "You Decorated My Life."
You have to check out the duet he did with Sheena Easton, "We've Got Tonight." It's a Bob Seger song, and both versions are fantastic.
Man, his voice in this song gives me the tingles X)
This has always been my favorite of his. It's about a struggling singer/songwriter who hasn't been able to make it yet, and he's torn between continuing his dream or giving up on it. She has always supported him, but her crying when he went downstairs means she knows it's taking a toll on him, and on them.
Well, she was right. Those little songs went on to be played and heard by the entire World. One of the greatest ever in country music. Right up there with Jones, Cash, Willie, Hank, Garth, Strait and Alan Jackson.
My 79 year old grandmother used to say, "That man can put his boots under my bed ANY TIME!" And that is saying something!!
Kenny Rogers The first edition: Just Dropped in (to see what condition my condition was in) If you watch the video, Kenny has long hair! This was before he went solo. The song has a rock vive to it!
Grammy Kathi here. When Kenny Rogers was asked in an interview for People Magazine who had the most influence on his style, he said Jack Blanchard, my Dad.
An obscure but entertaining song of Kenny's is "The hoodooin' of Miss Fannie Deberry".
My favorite Kenny Rogers song! He was so big when I was a kid and all of our moms loved him.
This has always been one of m favourites, its a great song.....
Not my favorite country singer but I liked everything about him. It’s truly hard to believe he’s no longer with us, Rest In Peace Kenny Rogers.
Kenny was a rocker back in the day. Check out his early catalog from the '60s with The New Edition.
I saw Kenny perform in concert with the First Edition back in the day. It was a great show. Check out “Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in” or “Something’s burning “.
Him and Dolly Parton patsy cline, and Loretta Lynn are the only country singers in my mind and John Denver.
If you want beautiful, listen to Kenny's YOU DECORATED MY LIFE. It is such a wonderful song but please pay attention to the lyrics, they're absolutely beautiful. His voice singing these lyrics is the cherry on top.
The ever so romantic Kenny Rodgers. 80s was his best time ever.
Kenny made everything okay through the seventies he was an equalizer in many ways. Kenny was solitude in. In the eighties he was true in his heart. I love Kenny.
Kenny at his smoothest ..., another one to check out is Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town, I believe it's based on a true story
R.I.P. Kenny. You live on through your music and voice. Legend.
I have to agree with Amber I've been listening to Kenny for 50 years and he has one of those voices you never get tired of
First time in this channel and I love this song from Kenny Rogers that He wrote it with Lionel Richie . Now there is another song from Kenny Rogers call Crazy which he also co-wrote with Lionel Richie .
"Through the Years" is a song that will touch your heart. My favorite Kenny song.
The one that will bring a tear to your eye Jay since you're a sports guy is The Greatest. Both of you need to listen to this one, it show another side of Kenny.
My favorite Kenny 's song. And You decorated my life.
Go back in time and listen to his older songs when he was with
The First Addition:
1. Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Is In
2. Something’s Burning
Both really good, different sounds!!
You won’t be disappointed!!!
Was just going to post this! The First Edition was fantastic!
@@gypsyrocker The group's name was actually The First Edition. And they were great!
@@charlessheifer2264 I did it again! I keep writing down the wrong name. 😁
Thanks!
Those are 2 great suggestions
"Tell It All Brother" is one of my favorites, it speaks to my soul whenever I listen to it
You should listen to a young Kenny Rogers when he was in rock band First Edition singing "I Just Dropped In"
If you guys want to hear a completely different side of Kenny Rogers you will absolutely love "The Greatest"
Fantastic Kenny you're always be a legendary human....an American legend...very few of them in history
As you like Kenny, you would like his contemporary, Charlie Rich and his hits Behind Closed Doors and The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.
The Silver Fox. And "Rich" perfectly describes Charlie's voice!
Charlie Rich was one of my Dad’s favorites! 😢🙏🏻
Thanks for reviewing this one. I love this song, love me some Kenny....ALWAYS!!♥
One the other side of the sweet serenades are these two songs which are musts by anyone claiming to be a Kenny Rogers fan .... "Sweet Music Man", and "Daytime Friends" .... I promise you won't be disappointed!
Kenny Rogers was such a class act. I will always miss him.
Fun Fact: There was a young woman named Whitney Duncan, who was a contestant on Survivor who was a country singer/songwriter. She had submitted a few of her original song to a demo catalog. This is where singers will search for a song to sing and possibly make a single out of it. Anyway, Kenny Rogers found a song in there that he wanted to record, the song was written by Whitney, and, not only did he love the song, but he also thought her voice was phenomenal, so his people phone her people and they asked if they could have the rights to sing the song. Whitney's people said yes, absolutely. Kenny DID have one extra request. He felt he would not be able to do the song justice unless he sang it as a duet WITH Whitney. Obviously Whitney was honoured and she, of course sang on it. There was even a music video for the single, I think you would absolutely love reacting to it.
It's called "My World is Over" and can be found right here: czcams.com/video/O3shc75v7jk/video.html
Whitney Duncan was also a contestant on Nashville Star, kind of the country version of American Idol that produced stars like Miranda Lambert, Chris Young and Kacey Musgrave. Here she is getting some advice from host Jewel and performing her song "Skinny Dippin''" (and yes, that's a pre-Voice Blake Shelton as one of the judge's!)
@@PlumbPitiful Yes she was. Been following Whitney since I saw her on Survivor. Also saw Miranda Lambert lose to Buddy Jewel in season 1, but who's making it big now, eh? LOL
Oh that's cool! I was a big Survivor fan. Thanks for sharing that info. Thanks for the link too.
"Twenty Years Ago", "You Decorated My Life", "Morning Desire", "Love Will Turn You Around", are awesome by Kenny Rogers!!!! React to the movie "Six Pack", with Kenny Rogers in it..😀😀
Love that movie! 😃
Beautiful song and sung so Lovely. Lost one of the best male singers when kenny passed away. God bless Kenny
Kenny always could tell a story with his music. Miss him. He was one of my mom's favorites. Never heard a song he sang that I didn't like.
Go back to the beginning when Kenny Rogers was in a group called The First Edition. They had several hits on the charts with Kenny the lead singer. Their biggest was "Ruby".
Here is the link of when they performed on "The Midnight Special" - czcams.com/video/IrmZFmfRvUY/video.html
I also love his song "You Decorated My Life"
Kenny was one of my gateway artists into country music. I still miss him.
Through the Years by Kenny Rogers is beautiful. Danced with my mom at my wedding to it.
Written by Steve Gibb, “She Believes in Me” tells the tale of a struggling songwriter who never stops persevering, thanks to the woman he loves who believes in him.
Love Kenny!!!! Listen to "The Greatest". So sweet.
He and Lionel Ritchie were great friends and they wrote songs together. Lady.
Kenny Rogers was my first crush....
You Decorated My Life, Dont Fall In Love With A dreamer, and Through The Years are other great songs.
Love Will Turn You Around is from the movie "Six Pack" that stars Kenny Rogers.
Before Kenny went solo he was in a band called First Edition and their big hit was "Just dropped in". 1967.
..to see what condition my condition was in! How'd I remember that?
Thanks, guys. "MORNING DESIRE" is another great song from Kenny Rogers. :)
Dottie West sings a nice duet with Kenny Rogers you might enjoy: "What Are We Doin' in Love" (1981). You might also like "You and I" (1982), a duet with Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle.
Saw them both together live in the early 80's. His voice is unreal
Kenny owned it in his day, lotta crossover hits on the pop charts.
In 1967 Kenny Rogers and the First Edition hit the Top 40 with their first single- a psychedelic rock song called Just Dropped In. Keep an open mind on this one. It doesn't have a lot of the things you like about Kenny's voice but it's still him and it's a good psychedelic song.
Kenny rogers. Just Dropped In. Psychedelic.
Between 1976 and 1999 my mother saw Kenny in concert over 300 times. He was her only man other than my father.
Just Watched a Bio of Kenny Rogers, & Although "Lady" Is Definitely My Alot Time Favorite-- I Had Forgotten About One. of His First Songs--Way Back in The Late 1960's, When He Was First Starting Out His Singing Career. He Was In A Group Called 'Kenny Rogers and The First Edition' & His First Time Hit Record Was "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town"--- ❤❤❤. It's a Great Song, & I'm Requesting You Play it! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL & ESPECIALLY LOVE, THE BOTH OF YOU! YOU'RE REALLY AN AWESOME COUPLE! ❤🌿❤🌿
Kenny does duets like no other. Kenny Rogers and Dottie West- Every Time Two Fools Collide
Please do some more Barry Manilow, this reminds me of so many of his beautiful love songs!! Weekend in New England, This One's for You, Trying to Get the Feeling, Could it Be Magic......literally dozens of gorgeous songs.
Barry is such a great artist.
You all need to do: "Sweet Music Man" written and recorded by Kenny Rogers. One of my favorites of his, but doesn't get mentioned much, YOU'LL LOVE IT!
One of my favorites.
Try Kenny’s “ I just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in..”
20 years ago is amazing tune
Damn, I just cried. Wow, this song was from my teenage--hood, but it didn't touch me till now... Thank you.
Beautiful songs from a time when songs drove music and weren't driven by trends. I can imagine pitching this type of song today and getting nowhere. This is so personal and beautiful. Kenny was a brilliant writer and deservedly a superstar.
Jay and Amber if you look at Kenny Rogers music career he had a band back in the 60's called. Kenny Rogers and the first edition
He does a great song with Kim Carnes, called "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer", which I think you both would like, as well.
Probably no one else will suggest this song. But I absolutely love the song "Love Will Turn You Around". It's the theme song from The movie Six Pack that Kenny Rogers also starred in as the lead actor. Was actually a pretty good movie if you would like to check it out. But definitely check out that song by Kenny.
RIP Mr Roger’s. He has so many styles of country music.
Absolutely beautiful song
Incredible, as always...
Everyone wishes they had this strong, beautiful love in their life...maybe someday I will..
I’ve always thought this was a song he wrote to his wife. I TOTALLY expected tears from Amber!!!!
The beginning notes of this song made me think of a terrific Ronnie Millsap song that deserves a reaction: "Almost Like A Song"
Good one. Such a tearjerker! Love it, though!
"Daytime Friends" - One of his really good up-tempo songs
Kenny had so many hits in the 80s he was named artist of the decade by Billboard magazine. That's something when you consider all the greats of that time including Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna and so many more.
My second favorite Kenny Rogers song, My First is Through the Years....I have been with my wife for 49 years, our 50th anniversary of our first date is Jan 19th....and she has been there through the years
Kenny Rogers has a beautiful baseball song that was a hit titled "The Greatest"
Can't go wrong with Kenny Rogers! Through The Years is another great one. In honor of your sweet kids, please listen to his song called The Greatest!! ❤️⚾️💖
My favorite Kenny Rogers song!!! Well, it's between this, "Lady" and "Through The Years." I'm glad you got to hear this one.
Love this song. Another good one is his duet with Kim Carnes (of Bette Davis Eyes fame) - Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer. And as others have mentioned, his early years/different sound with the band The First Edition - Just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In is a great song!
Wonderful recommendation! :)
Kenny was a cool crooner with the perfect rasp in his voice!
Kenny has a baseball song. You must listen to “The Greatest”! It’s a wonderful baseball song from a kid’s perspective.
When I got married in 1981, our first dance was a beautiful song by Kenny. You decorated my life. React to that next. ✌️❤️
So romantic, sweet, soft & strong. 80’s baby ❤️
Kenny also did a duet with Sheena Easton... "We've Got Tonight". Do the Live version. 😉😀
Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton - We've Got Tonight
Deep catalog here. You guys need to try his song called Reuben James for a great story song. Love your channel!
Someone believed in me 40 years ago and for their belief I've been sober for 40 years ❤
He has an awesome duet with Kim Carnes "Don't Fall in Love With a Dreamer". Also, "Buy Me a Rose". "Lucille". I've seen all your reactions to him so far and there are so many to go. Can't wait to watch you cover them:)
You guys need to hear Kenny in his rock voice like I Just Walked In to See What Condition My Condition was In or Somethings Burning.
RIP Kenny Rogers. We miss you. Please do 'The Greatest ' every parent needs to play for their kids. I did mine. Bless you and yours too.💖
The Greatest and Through the Years are 2 of my favorite Kenny songs!
This is one of his best. I wish I had someone that believed in me instead of someone that left me and our 2 boys.
When I was younger as a kid listening to these songs from Kenny that my dad would play I really didn’t care for them. But now every time I hear this song along with “Lady” and some of his other classics they move me. Kenny Rogers was so special.
You will love this song and
the lyrics the song name
is Good bye. ❤🙏RIP Kenny we miss you so
much gentle soul
I had the honor of seeing him in concert. Not only is he an amazing singer but he was a natural born comedian as well.
He put on a great show!
Kathie says…Please listen to Kenny Rogers first hit when he was with The First Edition…I JUST DROPPED IN TO SEE WHAT CONDITION MY CONDITION WAS IN! 1967 I believe. I love that song!
Kenny Rogers was in a movie in the early 80's that you might like to watch and react to, called Six Pack. He plays a race car driver who adopts 6 young kids who have no parents, and they help rebuild his career. The oldest child is a very young Diane Lane, who is still acting, if I'm not mistaken!
⭐️ Another Two Kenny Rogers songs MUST review are: “Don’t Fall In Love With A Dreamer” duet with Kim Carners absolute magic. “What About Me” also with Kim Carnes and James Ingram. I’m telling pure gold!
One of his best, no one sings these tunes like Kenny. Thank you Jay and Amber
Kenny Rogers has the rare gift of speaking directly to your heart. Don't know too many people who don't rate him highly. Bob Seger is the same
It’s been a minute since The Bee Gees. You need to check the original To Love Somebody. The Janis Joplin one you did was one of the many covers. Basically anything from the 1960’s early 70’s
Ty ty ty for this😊. I ALWAYS brag to my friends that I shook hands with Kenny Rogers at a concert in my late teens ( I'm 61 now😆. They are like yah we know....shut it lol. Nope I won't 🤣
